talking to Arthur

561 Words
The rest of the school hours went by swiftly. We ended all of our classes and I didn't happen to see Arthur again. I decided to talk to him tomorrow and left for the house. Upon my arrival, my aunt's husband had prepared dinner so I went up to my room, freshened up and came downstairs to join them for dinner. It's always a nice experience having to eat with family but for somewhat reason I felt really uncomfortable. My aunt noticed that and started a conversation with me. " so Alesha, how was your first day at school? Do you like it over there, did you make any friends too and do you think you can complete the school year? my aunt asked. I nodded and told her school was great and I intend on graduating. As for friends, I don't know yet. My smiled at me told me to let go of the past and embrace the new one ahead of me. I really loved what she had told me so I decided to do just that. I hurried with the food and quickly left the table. I did my chores that evening and left for my room to tackle my homework. Later that evening, I thought really hard about how to approach Arthur the next day. I started making drafts on how to write the letter and fell asleep in the process. The next morning, I did all my morning routine and left for school. Upon my arrival, I saw the guy that I thought so hard on how to approach him " Arthur". Surprisingly, he walked up to my direction and started a conversation with me. Arthur : hey Alesha : hey there. I replied in an awkward manner Arthur : we met yesterday in the English lectures, I don't know if you remember me. I immediately cut him off, yes, yes, I do remember you. I'm so sorry for cutting you off but I was really hoping to see you today Arthur smiled at my sudden outburst and continued with whatever that he wanted to say at first. "Well, we never really had a proper introduction yesterday, my name is Francis Arthur, although I like to be called Arthur". Arthur said stretching forth his hand. I greeted him and told him my name once more, Alesha Greene. We exchanged the handshake and spoke for a while before the bell rang and we headed to class. We had the same class today so we went in together and Arthur insisted on sitting next to me. I felt somewhat comfortable sitting with him so I didn't complain at all. The class went on smoothly and next we knew, it was time for lunch. As I was packing up my stuffs to leave the class, I realized that I wasn't really able to ask Arthur about the project the English teacher had asked us to do, so I asked him. Erm... Arthur, would you like for me to write to you as my penpal? I asked hoping he wouldn't turn my offer down and thankfully, he didn't. " Sure, I'd love that". he replied staring at me. We finished packing and left the class. The day went by smoothly and Arthur was with me throughout. We exchanged contacts when school was over and we headed to our various homes.
