MY BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD
My name is Isabel, I was born and brought up in Ekiti state.I'm the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey, who lived together for seven years before they had children. On January 17th 1995, my elder brother ‘Jide' came as a saviour to a marriage which childlessness could have broken. He was followed by ‘Tobi' who was born on september 3rd 1996. Five years past and my mother who prayed constantly for a female child, lost hope after several miscarriages. Finally, mommy had me on July 5th 2001.She was extremely happy that I became an egg in her eyes. I remember vividly when I was ten, I took some amount of money from Dad's room with the aim of sponsoring my friends lunch in school. When I got home that afternoon I told mommy about the money and how I got it.Though, i was expecting mommy to scold or at least yell at me,but she never did.Instead, she had me promise her that i'll never steal again.I promised her happily because at least i would escape daddy's wrought knowing fully well that mommy would replace the money. I also remember stealing from mommy countless times on several occasions ( some she was aware of...others she wasn't). The only time mom yelled at me was when I told Daddy he was always shouting like he lacked home training, she only told me I was becoming rude and insulting and that I should apologize.I pretended to be hurt by her words and ran to my room crying. She followed quickly..apologizing and promising to buy me a cell phone. *Daddy almost brought down the roof of our house* His anger almost led him into a fight, but trust Mr. Humphrey, though he was a disciplinarian he never raised a finger on his wife, rather he yells.; "Keep spoiling her. Thank God for the two beneficial and working sons he gave me,and not this imp u call a daughter". Whenever Dad said something like dat *I felt useless* I loved my dad no doubt but not as much as I loved my mom.
