Chapter 7

Alex moved closer to her, she moved backward a little bit, she began to wonder what he has on his mind to tell her.

“Maybe he wants to tell me to be extra careful with those guys. Oh! I saw his eyebrow when I answered the question during the tutorial, what’s wrong with him? What does he take me for? Does he think I gat a weak brain?” Ajira thought.

“Em em, actually, the truth is that I em em-

“M is a letter in the alphabet na, what’s wrong with it” Ajira cut in

“Okay. L L L L L L-

“Please stop this pranks or joke, what’s your problem? What ‘s wrong with L?” She retorted

“L means love Ajira” Alex pushed the word out of his mouth. “Yes Ajira, it means love” He said with a curious tone.

“I know, so what happen to it?” asked Ajira

“I love you Ajira” Ajira was flabbergasted, the word LOVE is a huge word to her, she has never been told that by any guy in her whole life. “Yes, I do. Your love had been caved into my heart since our first encounter under this tree. I have decided not to unveil this to you but I can’t conceal it anymore” Said Alex with a gloomy face.

Ajira was mute with her eyes fixed on him, the perfect reply she do not know, the cross of love she is not ready to bear. Many questions began to ruminate in her heart. “How could he love me? Why did he love me? What does he wants? Does he really loves me?” She thought.

She turned to the direction of her house but Alex grip to her hand withheld.

“Ajira, please don’t go. This feeling is true, this love is real. Please hear me out” Alex pleaded with eyes water almost out of his eyes.

“Let go of my hand” Alex released her hands. “It’s not my fault, it’s just I don’t know what to say cus I was stunned” said Ajira.

“Provide for me a space in the corner of your heart, Let your heart be in my custody, I can assure you of it safety-

“Please I’ve had enough, don’t wanna hear nothing more” Ajira cut in angrily.

Alex went down on his knee with his hands joined together.

“Please don’t be offended, I meant nothing but love.” Alex pleaded.

”Listen, it’s not like that, you claimed you love me, right?”

“Yes, I truly do”

“Okay, I really appreciate you for that, but i need no boyfriend now, or to allow myself to be lure into any relationship, my utmost focus now is my future, that’s my number one priority for now” Said Ajira.

“Now I fathom. I’m here to deter not your future or hamper your mindset, I’m not a bad guy, okay? I also gat many dreams to chase and a future to secure.”

“Good. Do you truly love me”

“Yes Ajira, with all my life”

“Okay, if you truly love me as you’ve claimed, stay away from me and let my dreams be realized, goodnight” said Ajira.

She left him under the tree and headed to her house. Alex eyes couldn’t let go of her. He proposed in his mind not to let her go no matter her obstinacy. He looked up to the full grown moon and vomited the words on his mind.

“Let my wishes be wished, let my wishes be wished, let it be wished. I really want her”

He kept accentuating on wishes be wished till he reached his doorstep. His tone of agitation unveiled his desire to have the lady. He entered his room emphasizing on “I want her” till he slept off.

Ajira sat on her bed, solacing her back on the tainted wall. She began to battle with her thought, the word love engrossed her thought. To her, adding the burden of love on her burden is highly detrimental for her. She drew Ann closer to her. “Ann my friend, tell me what I should do in this situation I enmeshed myself. Should I go for love? You didn’t even reply me. I do wish I could turn you to human being, so that you could bear some of my burdens, but i gat no power”

She hugged Ann and wiped her tears with backhand. She said her night prayer and lay gently on the bed while her eyes was closed in sleep.
