It was a dew filled morning, there was no bird singing in the sky, but the crowing of the c**k filled the air. The wind was blowing fiercely that it almost blew off the tray in Ajoke’s hand, the flame from the cup exposed a chocolate colour drink diluted with milk, Ajoke staggered and saved the tray from falling.
“Good morning my crown, how was your night?” Greeted Ajoke
“It was fine darling, yours nko?” Responded Ajala
“it was good too. Here is your tea, drink it before the cold quench it hotness”
“Alright darling, thank you” Ajala said holding her hand tightly
He took the tea cup from her and zipped it down.
“Hubby, I want to discuss some issues with you, I would be o delirious if you would adhere to my words” said Ajoke.
“Hmm, I know you very well, your persistence means money, how much do you want this time? Kokoro jowo jowo” said Ajala with his teeth opened wide.
“Stop jor, what do you take me for, I’m not a moneybug na, I’m not discussing anything with you again”
“It’s okay na, I was only joking. Okay, what’s the matter?” asked Ajala
“See, it’s about Ajira_
“Wait, what’s it about her again ehn?” Ajala cut in sharply
“Please be calm, let me express myself”
She narrated the rift between which occurred between her and Ajira in the night before to her husband.
“Yes, is it a crime if she drinks the juice? just answer me” said Ajala
“That’s not what I’m saying, em em that’s what our children were supposed to have as their breakfast, I’m pretty sure that she did that intentionally, that’s wickedness na” retorted Ajoke
“Okay, what do you want me to do?”
“We both know what to do, let’s get rid of her” Ajala was stunned. “Yes, you know we are living on her parent properties, she would soon reclaim it when she clocks 25, was that not the age written on the Will?” asked Ajoke.
Ajala sigh, a brief silence engulfed the room, he bent his head thinking about the advice given by his wife, after a while, he withdrew his head back to position.
“See Ajoke, it’s not possible, I can’t do that, okay?” said Ajala
“Okay. A word is enough for the wise” replied Ajoke. She picked the cup and walked out of the room angrily. Ajala was on his feet, he walked around the room thinking of his wife’s advice.
There was tranquility in the classroom, it was caused by the presence of a young lady in her early 30s. She noticed a boy whose head was on the desk while the lesson was going on, she moved closer to him to tend.
“Hey Alex, what’s up?” asked the tutor. “Nothing much ma” replied Alex.
She asked him to answer the question written on the whiteboard. “Elucidate Synesthesia” was the question.
“It refers to a technique adopted by writers to present ideas, character or places in such manner that they appeal to more than one sense at a time, like hearing and sight, smell and touch. E.g light creaked: hearing and sight.” explained Alex.
“Wow! What a brain! Keep it up, you’re really doing well” remarked the teacher.
“Thanks ma” replied Alex.
