They Are Not Ordinary

CHAPTER 15

ASHTER STARR

Me, Aliana, and Sophie all sat together for lunch as we chatted and tried to catch up with each other. Talking about some random things and especially the drama club thing. Of course, I was glaring at Aliana the whole time because she is the reason I got in that club in the first place. Sophie and Aliana just laughed at me and told me not to worry.

As I was about to protest when a bunch of books smacked down on our table.

"What's up ugly bitches you missed me didn't you?" Jane yelled making other people look weirdly at our table.

"Jane where the hell were you this morning? I didn't see you in class" I asked as I took a bite of my nuggets. "We had a long quiz you dumb ass"

"Well I don't really care about that quiz, so the reason I was late is that I woke up late as usual and also I hate morning classes I said to myself that I would come in lunchtime, actually my first thought was to ditch school but I know you guys missed me so here I am" She explained while flipped her hair.

"Then why are you always studying though if you just hate going in class and take quizzes?" I asked, completely puzzled because she was really obsessed with reading and learning.

"Well, I like to learn, what I want to learn" She stated while shrugging.

"That doesn't make any sense," I said

"Well if you are smart like me, it would make sense" Jane smirked causing me to slap her arm playfully.

"Damn you should have ditch school because if I was you I would totally be sitting and watch Netflix all day" Sophie commented

"I know right!" Jane exclaimed as she and Sophie pounded their fist together. "But I missed you bitches that's why I still come to school"

"That's not good guys, make sure you are getting your education right because it will ruin your future" Aliana advised in a motherly tone. "Tardiness won't be tolerated at this school"

"There goes our president" Jane rolled her eyes playfully before she sat down beside me. We all laughed.

"So are you excited about your date with Mr. Leonardo today?" Jane sang while she winked at me.

"Seriously guys. You make it seem that I like him, which I don't... Besides, I really don't know him" I groaned. "I only meet him like two days ago or something"

"You will though, he is really sweet and respectful unlike most of the boys in here. Don't you know? Half of the girls at this school like him because of how cute and polite he is. Not to mention the best actor" Aliana informed me.

"Damn, well sounds like you know a lot about him Aliana, maybe you should date him" I teased as everyone at our table laughed. "And maybe you should be his leading lady instead of me"

"Oh come on Ashter as I told you a lot of times, you are going to be okay" She giggled "Don't worry he doesn't bite, just give it a shot okay?"

"Fine then I'll see later"

"Bye Ashter sees you tomorrow, I'm really going to miss our studying sessions" Jane pouted while waving goodbye at me.

"Yeah me too," I gave her a small wave, I sighed as I saw Jane's car leave the school parking lot.

I made my way back to our school which is almost empty because only a few students are around and some teachers. The only ones left are a few students which are mostly my teammates waiting in the cafeteria until the clock turned 2 for the training and some other sports team like basketball, baseball and etc.

I made my way to the locker. From afar I saw Leonardo's figure standing behind my locker with a phone in his hand.

When he noticed I was walking towards him he turned his head and a look of relief was evident. He probably thought I was going to ditch him.

"Hey Ashter" He greeted kindly and I smiled at him

"Hi," I said as I opened my locker to get my bag which contains my training stuffs, I will bring it so I wouldn't run back here later to get it "I'm sorry I took so long. Have you been waiting for a long time?"

"It's alright, you are here now" He smiled at me "Come on let's go follow me"

He started walking and I walk alongside him. It's really not that far because we only made one turn to the hallway and we are met by a huge wooden door that looks fancy. He opened the door for me and I was pretty astounded when we walked inside the room which is huge because it had a very large theater stage.

I didn't even know this school have this theater stage.

"Wow, I honestly didn't know this place exist until now" I commented which made Leonardo chuckle.

"Well that surprises me because everyone in this school knows, I am guessing you don't like to wander around this school that much?" He asked as we walked near to the stage.

"Yeah I only go to the library and gym mostly" I shooked my head in disbelief for not knowing this place "I should have explored more"

"Yeah you should"

Finally, we reached the stage and Leonardo went to a table and sat on one of the chairs. Me who don't know what to do just stand in my spot.

Leonardo noticed that I wasn't beside him so he turned around and called for me.

"You can seat here" He patted onto the chair next to him and went to get his notebook to read some stuffs.

I sat on the chair which is a spinning chair. I spun around as I waited for him to be ready with his thing. I'm just going to this spiny chair in here.

After a few moments, he is finally ready. He cleared his throat as he lay his pencil on the piece of paper.

'Okay so... well first, I wanted to know what kind of play you wanted to perform?" He asked shyly.

"Don't you have pick already?" I asked, completely confused.

"No-- I mean yeah I have. But I want you to also choose what would you like so we can both agree on what we like, so we both can enjoy it" He explained

"Ohh I see..." I muttered

"I also want you to be comfortable with it too" He added, which made me furrowed my eyebrows.

"Comfortable?" I asked again, tilting my head to the side to meet his gaze.

"Well... I know you honestly didn't even want to do this in the first place. You're simply doing it so I won't have a problem finding a leading lady and you also feel bad if you don't take the offer, which I really appreciate because most people are not like that but you are a different person" He smiled politely at me "And I know that you are not comfortable with your acting skills yet, so the least I can do is pick a play with you that you like and apart from that, to make you comfortable playing it. So yeah... that's all sorry for being dramatic gosh" He averted his gaze at me but I already saw that he was blushing.

I was honestly surprised at his kind words and I felt the warmth entered my body, I don't even know why but it feels nice. Whether I like him or not, The girls are right when they said he was down to earth, polite, respectful, and sweet.

"Thank you," I said sincerely while smiling at him appreciatively. I am happy he understands my situation which made me feel less anxious.

"No problem, but I should be the one thanking you here" He smiled back.

I continued smiling at him as I saw his eyes shifted to my lips and stared at them, which I weird. I bit my lip and turned away as I cleared my throat.

"Uhmm... So yeah we should get started it's almost 1" He mumbled as he blushed again. I just let out a small laugh to remove the awkwardness from the air, which it did.

"So here is the list of play that the school allows, we can choose whatever we like" He handed me a paper which our options are written on it. I took the paper and read it.

DRAMA CLUB

5. Hamilton Written by: Lin-Manuel Miranda (Musical play)

"My first pick was Romeo and Juliet by the way" He shared "But you could still pick whatever you like and that's what I will choose too"

"Hmm" I hummed as I tapped my chin with my fingers thoughtfully but I already knew what I like "Romeo and Juliet are okay but almost everybody knows about their story where they both die. I personally like Anthony and Cleopatra because it's more tragic and sacrificial. and for the other choices, I like their stories but I would love to play Anthony and Cleopatra"

"Yes, that would be good" He nodded and smiled at me. "People would be suckers for that because they like the angst and the tragedy"

"Don't you want the musical though it's good" He playfully said

"Don't get me wrong I really loved Hamilton but I'm not going to play that because I can't sing to save my life geez. People would be out of this theater the first time they will hear my voice" I said causing both of us to laugh. We talked and laugh for a little bit.

"Anyways do we have other people to practice with?" I asked him because I am seeing different actors/actresses in the script.

"Yes, we are going to have an actual meet up this Saturday with the whole drama club" He informed me "And they are all excited to meet you to be honest because we have been looking for a leading lady for like a whole month now"

"Really? that's nice, I am looking forward to meeting them" I smiled at him

"Yes, and also my friends are excited to meet you" He shared "They really are bugging me a lot, to be honest"

"Well, I can already tell they are cool and nice people too. I'm really excited to meet new people " I said before we finally started.

Along the way, we messed around and I found myself actually letting loose. Leonardo was a really fun guy and he always knew how to make me laugh easily and not to mention he was really a good actor as my friends say.

Maybe I was too stubborn but Jane and Aliana were right. This is actually fun.

A lot of fun.

"O happy horse, to bear the weight of Antony!" I said before burst out laughing losing my character.

"I'm sorry really" I chuckled. We've been practicing this scene five times now because almost every scene I am laughing after I said my script. "Man I really need to focus and stop laughing every time gosh"

"It's okay Ashter really, I don't mind though, this scene is actually quite funny" He giggled before he dropped his gaze on his watch. "Hey it's 2:30, I guess we should stop from here so you could prepare for your training and rest for a bit"

"Really?" I asked as I sat on the floor of the stage.

"Yeah, I will see you again tomorrow," He said to me as he offered his hand to help me stand up and I thanked him before fixing my stuffs and then we both leave the theater stage together.

"So I'll see you this tomorrow Ashter goodluck in your training!" He waved as he gave me one last warm smile before we separated ways. I walked to the gym and started changing into my training clothes.

Maybe Leonardo could be a good distraction to Damien for now...
