CHAPTER 14

ASHTER STARR

"You nearly f*****g killed me" I hissed at him "You could've let me know you were coming"

"Sorry," he mumbled as he stood there in a black hoodie with his hood covering his face as usual. I found my eyes as to why he was acting like how he was before we talk it's like we're strangers again.

"Whatever" I rolled my eyes at him as I went to my cabinet to change in my pajamas. When I finished changing I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After I was done I made my way back to my room to find Damien standing in the same place but looking at the picture of me and an old friend.

"So are you gonna tell me where the heck did you go. why did you leave me hanging three days ago? Why are you always disappearing like dust?" I asked, bombarding him with questions as I crossed my arms looking at him sternly. He snapped his head towards me and just shrugged which made me pissed but I calmed myself. I raised an eyebrow at him motioning for him to speak up and he sighed.

"I...I needed time to think about all of this" He muttered

"About what?" I asked.

"Nothing" He shrugged again which made me annoyed because he is only giving me one word answers.

"Right... Nothing" I sarcastically said.

"What are you even doing in here?" I asked even though I don't really have a problem with it. Besides, I honestly missed him, but I hate the fact that he doesn't look like he missed me.

"I...I don't know" his voice got quieter he seemed to be in the thought.

"Why are you hiding your face again? I thought we were past this whole mysterious thing going on with you" I frowned as I made a step towards him but he moved back. I obviously got offended so I looked at him confused, he have his head down this time, not meeting my gaze.

"I should go." He was about to hop out of the window but I grabbed his wrist before he could. His breath hitch in his throat as I turned him around to face me.

"What? you are going to leave already you just got here? Next time If you are going to come here then leave in just a few seconds you should have to think about that before going in here... You shouldn't have come" I bitterly spat at him.

"I'm sorry" He mumbled.

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

That's all I've been hearing as always and I am starting to get tired of it, to be honest.

"I'm not going to let you leave me hanging again" I seriously told him. I am honestly tired of playing whatever his games are. It's just so freaking frustrating.

"Just tell me what the hell is wrong Damien?" I patiently asked as I ducked my head to see his face but he hid it.

"Hey it's okay it's just me" I softly assured him. Then he finally met my gaze.

I hesitantly pulled off his hoodie. I gasped as I saw scratches and bruises all over his face. I thought that he might have more bruises under his hoodie. It looks pretty new as blood ran down his cheeks.

"What the hell did you do Damien? Did you get into a fight again? I asked as I pulled out my first aid kit from my cabinet and ran to the bathroom.

"Ashter" He mumbled but I ignored him and continue to pull him to the bathroom.

"Ashter," He said, more seriously as he placed his hands on my shoulders squeezing it lightly. I stopped at my actions and look up at him to see him staring.

"It will heal, don't bother"

"But..." I wanted to protest but he put his palm in my mouth before I could say anything, then he dragged us back into the room.

"I'm a vampire don't you remember?" He explained, but I am still worried for him "I will heal fast it will be fine, I am going to be okay"

"Well, why isn't healing yet?" I asked as he retracted his hands back and put them in his pocket.

"Uhmm.. it's...it's" He stuttered. With that, I already knew that he was lying.

"It was done by another vampire that's why it's taking longer to heal" He explained as I looked at him for confirmation. But he still has this odd expression on his face so I am not buying it.

"Something like that," he said barely above a whisper. I frowned. I don't really know that vampires hate or will fight each other. I wonder who else could've done this to him?...

I was going to ask more but he beat me to it. "So I've heard you joined drama club?"

I was taken aback but I answered anyway.

"Yeah kinda, why?" I asked confused as to how he knew? And why he is suddenly interested to know.

"With Leonardo?" He questioned more like stated, in a colder tone... How did he know him?

"Yes... How did you find out?" I asked then he froze.

"Uhm Jane told me"

"Jane told me that she has no contact with you at all," I told him while furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. He was obviously lying.

"Uhmm I should go" He ignored my question and started to walk to the window.

"Wait, Damien!" I panicked as I grabbed onto his sleeves as he paused at my window standing still.

"P...ppleasee....stay" I softly asked him. He didn't even look at my way

"Ashter--"

"Please stay. I promise I won't ask any questions just stay, please... Just tonight... I missed you" I finally admitted and his head snapped towards me. His eyes soften at first but then they quickly vanished.

"I can't Ashter... We shouldn't be doing this... It's wrong" He mumbled

"Why? What the hell is wrong? We aren't even doing anything"

"It's because!!" He snapped loudly making me jump back and he looked at me with apologetic eyes "I'm sorry... I just can't..."

He whispered something but I didn't quite hear it, but it sounded like "I can't fall in love with you" but I wasn't so sure because he already jumped down and disappeared. Leaving me again in my own room standing wondering what the hell did he meant by that.

I freaking hate Damien goddamn it.

Why does he have to do this to me every time?

I angrily huffed as I got out of my car and made my way to the entrance of the school. He left me like an i***t again last night. I think that he is purposely doing this to me. To make me suffer. Well if he is I am freaking done with whatever we have.

"Ashter wait for me!" I heard behind me interrupting my train of thoughts as I turn around to see Aliana just got out of a car the started running towards me.

"Hey, Aliana" I greeted but not energetic as I used to be because I've been in a bad mood since yesterday.

"Wow geez, I feel like you have been ditching me since that drama thingy" Aliana playfully commented as she catches up to her breath

"Not really I just became busier these days because you know I have training until 8pm," I said as I opened the door for her "You, Sophie, and I should talk and bond more, I feel like these days I haven't talked to you both"

"We talked last Saturday but I guess it is still not enough for compensation for the days we haven't talked," She told me as we continued to walk to my locker since mine was closed and their locker is near the cafeteria.

"Don't need to tell me twice. I feel like you and Jane excluded me and Sophie on a lot of things" She pouted playfully as we made a stop at my locker.

"You know we don't exclude you. We just hang more because we almost have the same classes and we always hang in the library and you both don't join us" I open my locker and put my training bag again before closing

"Besides you and Sophie hang a lot without us too" I pointed out

"You know I'm just kidding right" She nudged me playfully "Actually Sophie and I don't hang a lot anymore because I'm super busy, me being a senior and being the school president doesn't help at all, I'm always stressing about the tests and how to properly educate and inspire the young students in here"

"Yeah I know that feeling too I've been stressed these days I just want to relax"

"So how is the drama club going on?" Aliana wiggled her eyebrows at me that's a small smirk placed on her lips "I heard that you and that cute boy are getting together for practice today"

" Why did you have to remind me" I groaned. Obviously, I was distraught. Doing that drama club thing.

"Aww come one give him a chance, he is not that bad" Aliana assured

"Well I will give that to him since he is not like every guy in this school who is thinking about getting into my pants" I shrugged at her "But it's not necessarily about him, it's the whole acting in front of the school I am worried of"

"I'm sure you will do fine! Stop worrying girl and give your best, you are the most talented person I know! besides Jane told how good you are at acti-"

"She told you!? I exclaimed

"Yeah she told me that you are good at acting, you know Jane's mouth she just can't stop herself from telling stories" She laughed

"Jane really needs to start keeping that information to herself" I jokingly said

"Hey don't worry okay? maybe in the end you will end up loving it" She winked at me. I don't want to talk about it anymore so I didn't say anything I just gave her a small smile and continued walking. Thinking about it really gives me anxiety.

I was about to enter my class and say goodbye to Aliana when someone poked my shoulder from behind and I turned around to see Leonardo.

"Hey Ashter good morning" He greeted with a bright smile same as Aliana.

It's a little weird he is here because ever since I bumped with this boy it's like he is always appearing but in my whole one month in this school, I never even heard of him or even ran at him.

"Good morning" I greeted back politely.

"I'm here to let you know about our practice after your class today" He shoved his hands in his pocket in a shy manner "We can meet up by your locker since I don't know where else to find you"

"Oh right..." I mumbled biting my lip.

Is it too late to back out now? I thought. I haven't even asked my coach yet if this is allowed.

"Well I mean if you are still up for it" He nervously asked

I mean he could easily find a new and much more decent leading lady from this school. As I was to tell him 'sorry but I really can't do drama right now I got a lot in my schedule', Aliana gave me a hard and death stare that made me swallow my words before they even left my lips. Damn why she is so terrifying even though she is just a small person.

"Yeah sure I am still in, I will see you later at my locker," I said with a not-so-exciting voice. A big and bright smile appeared on his face showing his dimples. Making him quite cute, to be honest.

"That's great I am really looking forward to it! Thank you so much Ashter it really means so much to me. I'll see you later then" He gave me and Aliana one last smile before he run down the hallway.

"Damn did you see how happy you made him? it's like you colored his life now" Aliana commented as she watch Leonardo disappear in the hallway

"Did you see how unhappy you made me by accepting that stupid drama club?" I sighed as I pointed to my face to indicate how unhappy I was.

"Come on don't be such a bummer, I'm sure you will do great and Leonardo is the best actor, to be honest so you both will be fine at the end"

"It still doesn't make me feel better" I shrugged as I entered the room "I guess goodbye now see you at lunch"

"You are going to love it alright? Try not to worry about it" She winked at me

"See you at lunch" She waved goodbye at me and headed the other way to her classroom.

I hope I won't regret these choices.
