They Are Not Ordinary

CHAPTER 13

ASHTER STARR

The weekend pass by like a speed of lightning. I and the girls have a sleepover at my house last Saturday. we watch a lot of movies, we played card games, we even build a small port like we are little kids. My mom and dad are very happy to meet them and they are happy I made awesome friends and I was too, I really thought that I was going to have a hard time having friends but turns out I did.

It was really a lot of fun and I didn't know that I needed it. it was a very perfect distraction thinking about Damien. to my surprise, I didn't even think of him the whole day last Saturday. but as soon as they go home there go the questions again...

Sadly Monday had come ending our greatest weekend. but honestly, I was hoping to see a certain person this Monday morning.

I was about to enter the classroom when a voice startled me.

"Hey, Ashter" I heard behind me. I turn around to see the guy that I met last Friday. "Hey, Leonardo?"

"Yes I am, I'm glad you remembered" He smiled at me then suddenly he became nervous I don't really know why "Uhh... H..ow are you?"

"I'm good really thank you for asking" I smiled back at him "Are you in my class too? because if you are I'll be surprised because I have never seen you around before I think... No offense though sorry"

"None taken" He chuckled "That's because I am a sophomore... 2nd-year high school that's why we have never met before because we have different classes"

"Oh, now I get it," I said before I took a peek from my room and saw my classmates sitting properly already, then I momentarily dropped my look at my watch. Five minutes before the bell ring.

"Hey it was really nice to meet you again, but I got to get to my class," I said without sounding rude while pointing at the room. I was about to make my way inside when a hand grabbed my arm. I immediately turned around and glanced at the hand. Leonardo retracted his hands as fast as he had put them.

"Ohh I'm sorry I really didn't mean to do that..." He apologized and I furrowed my eyebrows at him confused. "Umm, I just wanted to know if hopefully, you would join a play with me?"

"What the heck, me joining drama club? I can't even act" I asked bewildered

"But Jane said that you could?" He asked, he was baffled as I am.

"She said that sometimes she sees you sometimes talking to the mirror in the bathroom, acting the lines from the book you are reading and she told me you are reading out loud in the library sometimes that you don't even know and she suggested it so I asked you since I need a leading woman." He shrugged.

I was even shocked to hear that. I knew that I wasn't horrible at acting but that didn't mean I was confident in my acting ability. So knowing Jane had seen me going crazy and talking to myself made me feel embarrassed.

"But I am already in the sports club? you know volleyball? I don't know if it is even allowed to join other clubs..." I told him but he still insisted.

"You don't have to worry about that I got everything covered we only practice for 20 to 30 minutes a day," When I didn't answer he spoke again.

"Please Ashter? give it a shot please, or at least think about it?" He pleaded with his brown eyes. I feel bad. After all, I really want to say no because my schedule is already full as it is, and I don't think that it will be a good idea for me to join the drama club while I am training for sports.

I was going to decline when Aliana came up behind me.

"Don't worry she will do it" Aliana enthusiastically accepted for me.

"What?!"

"Wonderful!, practice is after class next week Jane already told me that if you agreed you won't have to study in the library with her anymore because you will practice with me instead. So yeah I'll let you know more about it. Thanks, Ashter!" He said before rushing down the hallway to get to his class on time.

"Aliana what the hell did you do!!!" I exclaimed. I really like studying with Jane after class but now it was replaced with that stupid drama practice.

"You will thank me one day" She winked before walking down the hallway to get to her classroom too.

"Thank my ass! my schedule is already full!" I shouted for her but she was already gone

I groaned in frustration and continued to walk into my class just ass the bell rang.

It's not even half of my day and it's already going weird and bad.

My two classes finally finished and it was already lunch as I was walking down the hallway to go to my locker to get my lunch.

"Hey, have you seen Damien? I haven't seen him since Friday lunch and today" Jane walked up to me as I was transferring my things from the locker. "I swear that boy disappear without any contact at all, and he would come back like everything is normal"

"I don't really know" I shrugged I turned to Jane you were leaning against the locker next to me. I really didn't see him this day and in class either, I wondered why, but once again I tried to ignore it because it's messing my head up. "And you why didn't I see you in class earlier? I have been looking for you everywhere because I have to ask you something"

"I woke up late and got stuck in traffic so I just got here" She shrugged "Anyways what are you going to ask me?

"About that boy Leonardo who come up to me twice and asked me to join the drama club" I seriously looked at her, "He said you were the one who suggested me to him,"

"Wait he actually asked you?" Jane asked while clutching her stomach and laughing. I stood there with a grim look as I crossed my arms in annoyance.

"Yes! He freaking asked me to be his leading woman in the play" I said with irritation visible in my voice. As I slammed my locker close then we started to walk down to the cafeteria.

"Hey don't be so rancorous about it Ash, I honestly didn't think that he would actually ask you," She said as her laugh subsided

"What do you mean? Are you saying he wouldn't ask me because my acting isn't good enough" I told her while shooting her a glare.

"No, I didn't think of that. that's not what I meant. Damn what crawled up in your ass today?" She put her hands up in defense "I didn't think that he would ask you because I told him that you got a lot in your hands because of sports and academic stuffs"

I sighed and ran my hands through my hair. We finally made it to the cafeteria and sat at our usual table. Aliana and Sophie are not here yet.

"I'm sorry" I mumbled as we sat down, "It's just I don't want to act in front of people, well playing volleyball is okay but acting... It gives me anxiety"

"And all of this is overwhelming me especially we are training until 8:00 pm it's very exhausting. I had a lot on my mind before then this acting has been added" I huffed as I moved my arms and rested them on the table.

"Aww come on Ashter. I'm sure you will slay that performance even though I have only seen you talking in the mirror once but it's honestly amazing" She reassured as she rubbed my arms.

"Thanks, but it still scares me, to be honest"

"Why did you accept it though? you could have just told him that you don't want to?" She asked in an obvious tone.

"I didn't" I glared at her "Aliana did. I was about to decline him but she butts in and accepted his offer against my will"

"Really? Wow didn't know that the president would've done that" She said in a surprised tone.

"Well she did, and now I have to do that dumb acting in front of the school" I gloomily said as I took out my lunch which is a turkey sandwich, carrot sticks, a small bag of Doritos, and a medium carton of milk.

"I think it will be fun. besides Leonardo is cute right? She winked at me "You will thank us one day"

I rolled my eyes at her, yeah he is cute but he is clearly my heart already belongs to a certain someone.

"So are you actually going to do this whole acting thing?" She asked as she pulled out a lunch box which surprised me because she always buys her lunch here at school.

"I don't know... I guess maybe. I have to ask my coach first if he is okay with me having two clubs" I shrugged at her "Besides it would be rude if I told him I don't want to since I... I mean Aliana already said yes to him and he was so happy to have me as his leading woman"

"Well it's your decision to make" She nodded in understanding

"I'm sorry though for putting you in this situation, I'm so stupid not to think about what you would feel. Please don't hate me and be mad at me" She sincerely apologize which made me smile. I don't really blame her to be honest.

"It's okay Jane, I'm not mad at you okay?" I reassured her while giving her a small smile. "I'm a bit mad at Aliana at first because she agreed for me but

"I seriously didn't think that he was going to ask you since I said it more like as a joke, but I am happy that you agreed, or should I say Aliana agreed for you" She laughed as she snickered, I let out a small laugh as I let loose on the subject.

"Yeah I mean maybe this will turn out to be fun right?" I shrugged "I mean who knows"

"So does that mean... you think that he is cute?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me playfully which causing me to slap her hands playfully.

"What the heck Jane" I laughed at her "Well yeah, I mean he is not ugly"

"Ohhh, if you both got together you are going to be the power couple in this school" She stuck her tongue out in me playfully. I just shooked my head and just played along with her.

Later, after I finished training and all I finally got home. I spent my whole day with Jane because most of my class we have our free time because they told us it's self care week. which I think it's bullshit because I am still stressing about everything. Jane and I have been studying in the library for hours then after that, we messed around. Don't get me wrong I love her but she can definitely drain your energy for the whole entire day.

I greeted my parents who are preparing for dinner. I yawned as I walked upstairs to clean myself for a bit before heading back downstairs to eat dinner with my family.

"How are school and your training honey?" My mom asked. Of course the usual question in every dinner time.

"I'm doing fine at school but at training, I think you should prepare for my funeral" I joked which causes my mother to choke n her own food and my father just laughed.

"ASHTER!" My mom exclaimed "Watch your language"

"I'm kidding mom, but anyways I joined the drama club" I informed her since I told mom everything... except for the vampires that exist in this town part.

"Well that's good honey but are you sure you could balance it all?" My mom asked with concern in her tone "I mean I know you could balance it. I was just worried that you are going to overwork yourself one day"

"Yes, I'm sure I can do it" I reassured her as I took a bite of my chicken.

"Well, that's my girl" She proudly smiled at me which made my heart melt.

"That's nice to hear kiddo, goodluck with your things," My father said as he gently patted my head "I'm so proud of you"

I smiled.

Well, there is no place like home.

When we finished dinner I washed the dishes and watch the news with my parents for a bit before I head upstairs.

I let out a small yawn as I went to my room. I cracked my back as I felt like it was strained. Damn, I really need to go to a spa and get a massage.

As I walked in I let out a loud screech. I immediately covered my mouth as I recognized who it was.

"Holy f**k" I breathed out.

"Ashter?! Are you alright there?" I heard my father's voice downstairs.

"Yes, I just saw a spider again!" I called back, as I close my eyes hoping he would believe me.

"Do you want me to kill I for you?" He offered as I heard him about to make his way upstairs.

"No!" I shouted instantly "It's okay dad I got it!"

"Okay honey be careful up there," He said as I heard him walk away again.

I waited a little while before I closed my door and lock it.

I turned around to see the certain boy that always runs in my mind.

"Damien"
