ASHTER STARR
I ran through the hallways because I don't have much time. Lunch is almost ending and I really need to talk to Leo and to apologize him.
I went straight to the place where I was praying Leo would be. He was mostly there so it was the first place that comes to my mind.
I open the large door to the theater room and there he was, in the middle of the stage reading a paper in his hand which I know it was our script. I was frowning because it was only him, I thought there are going to be a lot more people now since the play is coming up and he is the only one practicing.
Before I announced my arrival, I stood and watched him for a bit. He would vocalize one scene before returning to read it again. Then suddenly he spoke again and this time it had more emotions than the first one. It went back and forth. I soon felt like a crept so I finally walked to the stage and cleared my throat to get his attention. Which it did because my voice echoed through the whole place.
He jumped a little, dropping over his script and his pen.
"Oh my gosh I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you" I apologized, rushing over to help him pick his things up.
"No it's okay, um, it's just... I am surprised seeing you here" He looked up at me. I look at him for a second before looking elsewhere.
"I know I'm sorry" I apologized rubbing the back of my neck "
"I know I have been MIA these past few days but I'm willing to commit this whole month until the show" I smiled slightly hoping he wouldn't be angry at me or upset
He let out a soft chuckled before nodding. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it, rethinking what he was going to say.
“Uh—Listen Ashter…” He paused sighing while rubbing his temples in hesitation “If you don’t want t d this. You don’t have to. You don’t have to do this out of pity. I’ll understand if you don’t want to do it anymore”
He really did want me to be in it, but I guess he felt bad about making me do something I didn’t want to. Or I should say forced too.
I really want to say ‘I am sorry to disappoint you but I would like to leave so that you can have a better partner’ But I thought about it carefully.
I sighed deciding what I should do; I mean he had already given me a free leaving ticket. I didn’t really want to do this in the beginning but now it honestly didn’t seem so bad.
I had a lot of fun those days we practiced plus Leo is a pretty funny guy and also kind. It would be wrong to do that to him. Especially after being so nice to me while I am treating him like dirt.
I took the other script from the table before I went beside Leo. I smiled at him. He looked at me confused and shocked for a moment but he smiled back at me.
“We’ve got like...” I dropped my gaze at my watch “20 minutes. Let’ make the most of it.”
-
“So I will see you later after your last class?” He looked at me hopefully
“Yes, of course, I will be able to I promise,” I told him as I pack my things.
“Alright, I’ll see you later then. Also thank you for staying in this club. It honestly means a lot to me” He appreciatively said.
“Yeah sure,” I nodded before we said our goodbyes at each other before heading to our classes.
“So how’s it’s going with Leo?” Jane asked as soon as I sat on my usual seat. I knew that she would ask that question it was written all over her face.
“It’s cool” I shrugged while taking out the book for this class.
“Nice” She simply said before going back to what she was doing earlier which was writing something. I frowned, expecting more teasing questions about me and Leo.
“Just “Nice? That’s it?” I asked not believing that Jane would have a behavior like this.
“Well everybody has to be a good girl in one day and the world doesn’t revolve around you Ash,” She said playfully annoyed while crumpling up the paper and throwing it at me.
“Wow hell must be freezing right now that’s why you are like this” I playfully teased her.
“Hey I’m not going to hell you know, Jesus will miss me in heaven because it’s going to be boring if I’m in hell” She smirked at me.
“True” I giggled.
I heard her sigh deeply before laying her head down on the table looking gloomy and dreadful. I raised a brow at her waiting for her to say something.
“I missed the boys a lot” She finally breathed. Oh, that’s why she is looking so gloomy.
Poor Jane.
“Me too” I mumbled under my breath. Just enough for only me to hear.
“Why can’t they just tell me the hospital where Damien is staying so I can visit sometime?” Jane questioned while frowning, which made me feel really bad.
“Yeah I mean you are their best friend right?” I tried comforting her. She shot her head up at me with a small smile.
“Well am I?” She sighed before laying her head down on the chair again.
“Hey don’t think negative, as the internet says think positive” I lightly joked t let her mood cheer up a bit. Then she gave me a small yet convincing smile.
“Yeah, but I think that Aliana and Sophie were right…” I hear her mumble but I didn’t push it anymore because I don’t want to make Jane even sadder if we continue on this topic.
But I’m curious what did Aliana and Sophie said. I was about to speak but the teacher comes in and yelled, making the whole class groan before they all went back o their seats.
“Okay classes take out your notebooks. Today we are going to write for the whole hour yey!” Our teacher beamed sarcastically not looking happy himself. Man, I wish I could really punch a teacher.
This day sucks, I wish Damien was here. I miss him.

After the last bell rang I collected my things and went to the exit, finally the long boring lectures are finished I'm finally going to do something interesting.
Well, I hope it will be interesting.
"Where are you headed Ashter?" Aliana asked when I met her in the hallway.
"To the theater room to practice with Leo, I promised him I will come this time" I pointed towards the hallway where the theater room is.
"Oh, so you talked to him?" Aliana asked
"Yeah, I talked to him and we're cool now and I'm thankful he wasn't mad at me" I honestly told her.
"Yeah well it's Leo we are talking about that guy will never be mad at someone like you" Aliana winked at me.
When I started agreeing with this drama club thing I noticed that the girls are always ways talking about how good and kind Leo is.
I mean I get their point they don't have to tell me over and over again it's very annoying, to be honest.
"Okay, I'll be going now, have fun and drive safe when you go home later okay?" She patted my arm as a goodbye as she made her way to the exit.
"Yes, miss president!" I shouted to her causing both of us to laugh.
I made my way to the theater room which I could already hear Leo practicing his lines out loud. Pretty impressive. I wonder how can he control his voice and how can he make it so loud without cracking his voice.
I entered the room then I went up to the stage and greeted him.
"Didn't think you'd make it" Leo admitted rubbing the back of his head shyly as usual.
"I promised didn't I?, have some little faith in me will you" I smiled at him "Now where we left off again?"
We worked our asses off on memorizing the script and perfecting the emotions and the gestures. We have been practicing a few lines but something in me is off I just couldn't put it in words.
Leo is doing okay but I'm holding him off and we can't move on to other scenes since I have to restart my line a couple of times.
"Another scene, another failure" I sighed as I reluctantly kicked the crumpled paper in the ground. It flew in one of the chairs below before sitting down to the chair beside Leo.
"Hey, it's not a failure" Leo frowned and sat down with me.
"I know, I didn't mean it like that. It's just, I'm tired of not being able to find my right emotion to this particular scene" I groaned while resting my head on the table, while looking in his direction.
"I know what you mean, but to tell you I honestly loved how you perform it, every time you will repeat the lines, you get better" He complimented with a soft smile "You are truly are a good actress Ashy"
For some reason, my cheeks started flushing and I looked away. He gently placed his fingers under my chin and lifted my head up to make eye contact with him.
I noticed that he slowly started leaning in. What the heck? Is he going to kiss me?.
I was in shock as our lips brush against each other.
My eyes shot open and I immediately pulled away and looked away in a different direction as smoothly as I could. I don't want to hurt his feelings.
I swore my body felt relief. He didn't really kiss me at all, our lips just brush. Luckily my instincts are alerted and I managed to pull away before he press his lips to mine.
"I-... Uhh- thanks for the compliment that's really thoughtful of you" I thanked him awkwardly.
"Yea... N-no problem" He seemed really disappointed but he was hiding it.
After sitting there in a long awkward and uncomfortable silence, Leo finally spoke up.
"Uh, tomorrow the whole drama club is going to be here since we only have a month to practice our play," He said trying to get rid of the awkward tension. "And also my friends are in our team too, they are the prop makers. You said you would like to meet them right?"
"Yeah, of course, I'll love to meet them"
"Cool, cause they have been dying to meet you" He paused slowly realizing what he said. He tried not to make it seem awkward about it though.
"Uhm that's sweet"
Does Leo talk a lot about me to them? Since they have been wanting to meet me so badly.
"Uhm time is almost up, I guess we'll call it a day since you still have training," Leo noticed as he look at his watch. I dropped my gaze to my watch too and realized it was getting late indeed.
Dang it, I almost forgot that I have training ugh just kill me already...
We gathered our stuff and cleaned the specks of dirt before we left the theater room.
We made sure that it was locked since it's our responsibility as a part of the drama club, we have to protect our own room.
Leo walked me to the gym with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow" He shyly waved at me I gave him a soft smile and a quick hug which made him freeze in his spot and blush. I just chuckled at his reaction before I opened the gym doors.
"Goodluck in your training" I heard Leo shout before the gym doors closed.
"Ahh, Ashter it's good that you finally showed up," My coach said while his arms are crossed in his chest. I gulped.
"Okay your first punishment is you are going to jog for an hour then after that, you will do 500 push up and sit-ups then after that we will discuss your other punishments"
"Okay coach" I obliged. Of course, I didn't say anything anymore since I don't want to have more punishments.
Damn it, I hope the ground will just swallow me whole right now to end this misery.
