They Are Not Ordinary

CHAPTER 11

"Okay I'm gonna answer questions on one condition" Damien mumbled. I nodded waited for him to speak "I'm only going to answer to those questions I wanted to answer and if I can't that's not your business anymore you'll just have to deal with it"

"Fine, deal" honestly I didn't care. As long as I was getting some answers that's fine for me. I went to sit down on the edge of the bed alongside him. I cross my legs and face him. His face didn't look too happy but I couldn't care less.

"Okay, my first question, what are you really? you are not a human, right?" I asked and Damien huffed at my question.

"Seriously? that's where you are going with?" He raised his eyebrows to see if I am joking but I am not so his face turned serious again "You and I both know what I am"

"Yes I know, but I want to hear it from you so my head can stop thinking about it" I shrugged and he shook his head in disbelief.

"Yes I am a vampire, are you happy now?" He said annoyed

"Yes, I knew it!" I said happily "I am really good at investigating things"

"What the hell!" I exclaimed, even though I know he is a vampire I still couldn't believe it. These kinds of people actually exist. So my whole life has been a lie? damn "Uhm--- okay so what's next? Uhhh... How do you guys even exist? I thought you guys are just made up characters and you guys only exist on movies?"

"No, we have been existing longer than any of humans in this world combined. Humans are just dumb to make those cringe movies and fake documentaries about us" He rolled his eyes clearly annoyed "We are just hiding because not all humans will accept us or can even handle the truth and for the most part we have been extinct but there is still a few of us around the world"

"Extinct? what do you mean extinct?" I asked

"That I don't want to answer" He simply said so I didn't push it and continued to ask my questions.

"Does anyone in the school knows? does Jane know?"

"No she doesn't and it's going to stay that way we never planned on telling her" He shooked his head "You are the first and only one to suspect us which surprised us because you are a new student not to mention you are the most inquisitive person I know"

"Us?"

"Yes us... Zachary, Claude, and I are vampires" He said like it's the most obvious voice "I thought you already knew?"

"Oh right..." I said "That's why you three are inseparable, especially those two"

"Yeah..."

"Okay... so, were you born a vampire or bitten? does that work?" I asked, not really sure if the articles and myths that I have read are true.

"Yes, you can turn into a vampire by getting bit" He replied "and I was... I was bit... we are bitten" He rambled which causes me to frown but decide not to push it.

"Okay next is. so if you guys exist I am anticipating wolves exist too?" I asked

"Yes obviously, they have been chasing you all along and you still have no idea" He rolled his eyes again. Geez, this boy is so damn sassy.

"Well I told you already I need to hear it from you so I can be 100 percent sure" I reiterated "Why are they so large? I mean I know I saw wolves before but they are just different"

He chuckled, I don't why he laughed but it's kinda adorable seeing him smiling.

"It's because they are what is called 'Lycanthropy' which is half-human, half-wolfs," He explained "I don't know about the other different kind, but that kind is mostly we get bumped into"

"Are they bad?" I asked since all of my encounters with these wolves are trying to kill me.

"No, not all of them are bad, I am sure there are good ones out there. Just like you humans they hunt, the only difference is they eat anything even your kind. but remember they are still considered as a wolf family but they don't care if you are human or not, if they are hungry they will eat you. The other kinds are considered as protectors of the town and the human, which they are the good ones" He shrugged. and I grimaced at the story but now I understand.

"I don't understand why did attack me in the open? and why people don't know about them? I am sure that they are all over the news and the media right now" I said

"Not really, they don't necessarily attack in the open, just when you are alone and when it's dark. Not to mention no human will ever survive to tell the story because most of the people they attack will never see the light of the life again"

"So that does mean that... if you hadn't come to save me both times I--I would have... d...die?" I whispered. It sent shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

"Yes..." He mumbled shyly

"How did you know where I was though? are you following me? or why are you always coming in when I was about to get an attack... how do you always come in perfect timing? are you stalking me or something?" I asked confused. because every time I will get attacked he was always there...

"Well that's enough questions for tonight" He avoided my question.

Why?.. it's just a simple question...

"But wh--"

"No, I already answered many" He cut me off, ending the conversation. I sighed deciding to drop it, I will ask him another time.

"So where do you want to sleep?" I asked him as I was tucking my legs under the blanket.

"Well actually I don't sleep" He replied

"Like ever?" I asked

"Yes," He nodded

"Don't you ever get tired?"

"What did I tell you no more questions" He sternly said.

"Okay okay geez... why are you always pressed" I mumbled the last part to myself so he can't hear it.

I closed my eyes but it felt weird, to be honest.

"Hey, why don't you try to sleep?" I said as I shift uncomfortably.

"I told you I can't, I'm a vampire" He scoffed

"Well... I do need to sleep and I don't think I like you watching me sleep because it feels really weird" I told him lightheartedly, but he froze in his spot. What the hell is up with him? "Oh god I was just joking"

"So what are you going to do?" I asked as I am getting myself comfortable in my bed once again. He shrugged.

"I'll just stay on your balcony and watch documentaries on my phone" he was about to go and walk out but I called him back.

"You can sit here and watch your thing I don't mind" I offered while patting the spot next to me.

"It's fine this bed is large so there is enough room," I told him when I saw that he was hesitant, but he made his way over anyway. He slowly sat down and crossed his legs as he leaned back against the headboard.

He opened his phone end plug his earphones as I turned off my night light. I got comfortable again and faced Damien. No matter how many times I look at him, I will always be captivated by his features.

"Good night Damien" I mumbled sleepily as I yawned before closing my eyes.

"Night Ashter..." He whispered.

The next morning I had woken up to an empty bed. I squinted my eyes at the clock on my nightstand and it is 4:50 am. I immediately stood up and look around to see if Damien was anywhere in sight or maybe he is staring at the window again. I frowned when I didn't see him.

Don't tell me I was just dreaming last night? Because if it is I will be super hella mad. Like what the hell why is my mind playing me like that...

I slowly climbed out of my bed and do my morning routine before I"" head downstairs. I yawned as I reached our kitchen and I saw a note on the dining table.

~Hi honey this is your mom, 

We came home last night super late and you are sleeping so we decided not to bother you. Sorry that we left early again today, your father already went out early to do an early shift as I went to go meet with some of my new friends. Sorry, we didn't get to see you again we promise to make it up to you sweetie later. Please don't make a mess while we are gone okay? I love you - mom

I sighed as I put the note down. I am gonna have to do breakfast for myself then. As I went to the fridge, I wondered if what happened yesterday was all a dream? Was it ever real? Am I hallucinating again? Did my parents saw that I was sleeping with a boy? Or did he leave the moment I closed my eyes?

Well, all of my questions have been answered when I heard Damien's voice behind me. Which startled me to death again...

"As soon as they turned the doorknob in your main door I already hid under your bed" I whipped my head around to see Damien standing there with my own clothes. He can stand there without doing anything but he looks so beautiful and not to mention hot... damn...

I heard him chuckle and moved over to the island table "Well thank you but it's odd to call me beautiful" he smirked which made my cheeks heat up and turn red in embarrassment. I turned around to pick the eggs out.

"So you can read minds now huh?" I teased trying to get the embarrassment off as I cooked eggs.

"I've always been able to read minds that's one of my skills, I was just getting bored of always having to figure out what you are thinking about" he shrugged as he sat in one of the island chairs.

"You wonder what I think about?" I asked while briefly looking at him before I put another egg into the pan.

"Uhhh... Sometimes" He shrugged again

"Okay," I said as I felt like it was getting awkward "Do you want some eggs and waffle too?"

"No I am good, you know I don't eat actual food, I will just vomit it out"

"Right... Vampire geez I forgot damn how could I be this stupid" I playfully smack my forehead. I heard him laugh which made my heart flutter a little. I stared at him for a little while because he looks different when he is laughing. When he noticed I was staring at him he cleared his throat and pointed at the waffles.

"Uhmm I think that is burnt already, you might want to check that"

"s**t" I cursed and turned around to flip my waffle which is almost burnt. "Thanks for reminding me"

I grabbed a plate and put my eggs and waffles on it before sitting next to Damien.

"Soooo..." I spun my chair around to face him while I have a small piece of waffle in my hand before popping them into my mouth "I still have a lot of questions, are you up to answering them?"

"Didn't I already answered a lot of questions yesterday?

"I know, but you didn't answer all of them!! I just want answers, I promise it's just a few questions please" I begged at him.

"Alright. In one condition, you need to finish that plate. You need to fuel your stomach" He agreed

"Well, you don't have to tell me twice" I exclaimed as I began chomping on my waffles and shoving the eggs down my throat like I am in some eating competition. I nearly choked most of the time but I manage to stuff it all down. Damien was looking at me in disbelief and also amused.

"All done!" I opened my mouth widely in his direction to let him see the proof that I have finished all my food, once he nodded I yanked him to the living room. I basically forced him to sit down and sat next to him.

As I faced him I realized that I touched him. I immediately apologize.

"Oh my gosh I am so sorry"

"It's alright" He shrugged it off like it was nothing. I smiled because it means that he was getting comfortable with me.

"Okay so first..." I started but Damien laughed at me. "What?"

"Geez... I never knew you are this intrigued" He muttered, obviously taken aback by my urge to get answers. "You can go on asking now"

"Since we are kinda on the subject of food, what do you usually eat? I mean it's obvious you eat blood but is there anything you can eat besides blood?" I asked

"We drink blood Ashter not eat... But that's the only thing we need. We can eat human foods, Zachary and Claude do, I don't prefer it though. It's not very appealing to me. However, I will eat anything raw" He answered. My stomach churn at the raw meat part.

"Uhmm okay si next question... How do you vampires survive--" I was cut off by my alarm which says it's already 6:30am and we are going to be late if we don't move now.

"s**t we are going to be late" I stood up and ran to the sink to brush my teeth briefly.

"Save by the bell" He smirked as he just sat there chilling while here I am rushing myself.

"We are not done yet... We are going to continue this at school" I told him seriously

"Are you kidding me? Not at school, anyone can eavesdrop" He scoffed as he stood up from his seat waiting for me.

"Fine, can meet you anywhere else?" I hopefully asked him. He sighed and bit his lip.

"I will meet you here again" he simply told me

"Oh s**t, I remember I forgot my car at school how are we suppose to go to school now?" I asked him. Obviously frustrated.

"I didn't bring my car too so yeah we have no other choice," He told me "Wait here I promise it will be fast, I will get my car and pick you up I'll be here at ten minutes tops"

"Okay" I nodded "So yeah I'll see you again later"

"Okay, I'll see you again Ashter"

He finally left and I let out the air that I didn't even know I was holding.
