“I believe Benjamin has decided to do both human and wolf skill tests today,” Cora says curtly when she returns to the crowd. The alphas all turn to go into the mess hall, but she stops them. “You should all stay to evaluate him.”
Alpha Jeremy looks annoyed, but Cora stares at him, unwilling to back down. “I don’t believe it is necessary. He will not become an Alpha.”
“I am the queen,” she says, holding her chin up. “If I decide he will be the alpha of a pack, he will be. Come, watch the young man.”
She turns to me and walks toward me. She looks just as annoyed with the alphas as they are about being here, but her bond shakes with nerves she’s hiding. She’s not given any of her fears away, and I couldn’t be prouder of my mate.
