Millions of questions and thoughts raced through Eleanor's head as she sat in her bedroom later that night. One side of her was happy that there was another person out there who could read thoughts like she could. The other side of her was scared, because she knew there was more to the Cullen's than what had been revealed. She needed to talk to Edward, or Alice, or even Rosalie. She wanted to know if Edward could do the other things she could do. Eleanor raised her hand, and let the scarlet glow cover her pale fingers. She never knew what she was fully capable of. All she knew was that she was powerful. She could remember when she first developed her powers, and had accidentally smashed her mirror from moving her hand to quick, and sending a ball of energy into it. Her mum was scared, she remembered. It was the first time El had lied to her mum, or her sister. Mrs. Stanley couldn't understand why her daughter would be so angry that she would punch a mirror at only 11 years old. She was also confused when she didn't find blood or glass on Eleanor's hand. El sighed. She was a freak, and there was nothing she could do to change that. She only hoped that when she confronted Edward, he would help her discover what she really was. Eleanor decided to mess around with her powers a little. She put down her hand, and placed 3 pens in front of her, before raising both hands. El watched the pens become tangled in scarlet tendrils, and she began to move her fingers, so the pens moved around in a slow circle. She tilted her head, becoming more and more focused on how her mind moved the objects. El smirked, and after pulling the pens closer to her body, she snapped her wrists, and the pens flew into a different part of her room. Eleanor smiled, before picking her hands up once again, and moving the pens back up to the bed. One perk about her abilities, she realised, was that it was much easier to get things if she didn't want to get up. Her smile turned into a frown, and her thoughts turned back to the Cullen's. She had to confront them as soon as possible. Obviously, she was scared, but she knew her mind wasn't playing a trick on her. She knew Edward knew she was in his mind. --- It was raining on Eleanor's way to school. She wasn't surprised nor did she expect anything else. Plus, since it was raining, the Cullen's were going to be at school. She could talk to Edward. "Hey, are you okay? You've been acting weird since yesterday." Jess told her sister, as she turned off the car engine. Since the accident, her mum found a cheap car, and immediately bought it, so the girls would have a ride to school. "I'm okay," El said, and opened the door, "I just haven't been feeling very good." Jess gave her a weird look, but followed her over to Tyler's truck. "Why'd you leave school yesterday?" El shrugged, "I didn't feel like being annoyed by teachers and other students so I left," The group laughed, and Tyler wrapped his arm around Eleanor's shoulder, "me, every day." "Ha ha," she mocked, and shrugged his arm off her shoulder, "stop doing that." She loved Tyler - as a friend - but she knew that he had always felt a little more than friendship. Jess and Lauren had told her multiple times she was crazy for not dating him, but El thought if she didn't date, she wouldn't have to worry about hurting someone else. "Well, you shouldn't have left. Tyler almost hit Bella with his truck!" Eric laughed, and nudged Bella's shoulder. "Oh, my God!" Eleanor turned towards the two of them, and noticed stitches above Tyler's left eye, "are you guys okay?" "Yeah, we're fine," Bella was short with her, and looked behind El to meet Edward's gaze. Eleanor followed her eyes, and looked over to the Cullen's. Edward moved his eyes from Bella's to hers, and smirked, before turning his head back to his family. Before Eleanor could say anything to Bella, the bell rang, and the group slowly headed inside. She'd have to talk to her at lunch. --- "Bella!" Eleanor ran up behind her friend, "what was that look between you and Edward this morning?" Bella stared at her for a moment, "um, n-nothing." Eleanor raised an eyebrow, "really?" Bella sighed, and looked around the hallway, before grabbing Eleanor's arm and pulling her to the side, "okay, I know you're going to think I'm crazy but I need to tell someone. I swear Tyler was going to crash into me, and he would've. But Edward somehow got in between me and the truck and stopped it. With his hand." Eleanor's eyes widened, "was he with you?" "No! He was standing across the parking lot by his car. I told his dad, or adopted father, or whatever, and he looked at me like I was insane." Eleanor's mind flashed to Dr. Cullen, but she pushed the thoughts out of her head, "I believe you. I mean, it's weird, but I think something is off about the whole family." Bella frowned, "why do you say that?" Eleanor shrugged, and looked up, noticing Edward standing at the end of the hall staring at them. She narrowed her eyes, and turned back to Bella, "just trust me. I'll let you know if I find something out." With that being said, she moved away from Bella, and began heading in Edward's direction. He began to head into the cafeteria, and instead of going to his table, he headed toward the door to go outside. Eleanor focused on his retreating figure, and walked faster, following him outside. She could feel people's eyes on her, but she didn't care. She needed to speak to Edward. "Hey!" Edward stopped, and turned to her, once they were far enough away from the building, "what do you want?" "I know you know what I did yesterday. How?" Eleanor crossed her arms, and narrowed her eyes at the boy. She was determined to find out the truth, one way or another. "Better question is, what are you?" Edward smirked, and leaned against his car. "I'm a lot of things. And I'll tell you if you answer my question." She looked desperate now. She found someone like her, after almost 8 years of being afraid of what she was. Edward sighed, and looked toward the ground, "you're right. I can read minds too." "How?" "Find Alice after school. You can come to our house, and we'll explain everything, and you can show us what else you can do. My family is very curious about you." Edward glanced at her once more, before pulling his keys from his jacket pocket, and leaving in his car.
