Chapter 19 Saturday was one of the warmest days so far. The sun was shining high in the cloudless blue sky and its warmth sunk deep into my skin through the window of the train as it rattled slowly along the coast. Derelict, abandoned stone farmhouses and aging olive trees littered the scenery, and they reminded me how old this place was. There seemed to be an age-old story around every corner.
