Chapter 25 Outside the train station, the late-afternoon sun beat down as I waited for Leo. Sweat soaked my shirt and trickled down my spine under my backpack. Leo was nowhere to be seen, so I pulled the bag off and glanced at my watch again. Ten past five. He was late. Just as I began to stress, a small charcoal coloured car tore around the corner, coming to a halt in front of me. Leo jumped out of the driver’s door and jogged around to greet me. ‘Ciao, bella. Sorry I am late.’ He planted a quick kiss on my lips, then took my backpack which he threw in the tiny boot and told me to jump in the two-door car.
