Confronting the Twin Alphas.

The lecture seemed like it took forever to end, and Anna took an eternity to get there, I was tense with anxiety the entire time and throughout the entire lecture I could only hear the vehicles passing outside, and I could only feel my pendant as it vibrated between my breasts, causing even more anxiety, or sure whichever of them it was must have noticed, because even as they pretended to pay attention I could feel their eyes come my way every time they looked at each other, and just as I expected they must have suspected me, because when the lecture was over, after even the professor had left, we were some of the few people still left in the auditorium, and even then they didn't seem the slightest interested in leaving, and they had still yet to look back, rather they sat there secretly conversing with their backs stiff, that was the most unnerving part. 'I should definitely leave before we're the only people here.' I thought to myself, grabbing my bag and leaving, thanking the moon that they didn't immediately come after me, and the further I was from them the less the pendant shook, so I was sure it was one or now that I thought about it, it could have actually been the two, and that thought made me more scared than I'd ever been, I could fight normal people, not these freaks, I was so close, almost at the door, but right before I could leave the next professor known for being a complete clutz came rushing in with her hands full of books knocking me back into the class. I was supposed to fall, hell, I'd have been happier falling, but right there behind me was someone to catch me, and it happened so fast that he should have been nowhere near quick enough to catch me, but still I fell back on someone's chest and my heart skipped several beats when I felt their hands grab my shoulders and steady me, again the pendant went crazy, it vibrated so loud that it started to emit a low humming sound even I could hear, and obviously feel, without even thinking I spun around ignoring the teacher sprawled out before me and aimed for a slap. "Whoa there Hunt, calm down." Jason chuckled, effortlessly catching my hand and pulling me onto himself and smirking down at me, and there next to him watching nonchalantly was his brother, also smiling. "Let go of me..." I whisper-shouted at him, trying to put on a brave face, but he caught on to my bluff and instead hugged me even tighter onto himself smiling down at me as if he had found a new plaything. "You gonna calm down?" He asked, looking at my hand that was stipp struggling to make contact with his face. "Let go!" I snapped again causing the occupied professor on the ground to look up at us. "Hey, help me with these." She called to Jason, and I felt his grip tighten on me again any tighter and it would start hurting. "Jason, that's enough." Justin finally stepped in when he saw the expression on the professor's face. "She isn't worth getting into trouble on our first day." He called to his brother, and instantly I felt the tension ease, but before he let me go Jason leaned into my ear and pressed his cheek against mine. "You're not off the hook Mikayla, I've decided that I want you no matter what." He whispered and I felt my stomach unwind and knot up all over again as my legs went weak and I actually held on to him to stop myself from falling. He then let me go with a small shove, and before I could even turn again he was gone, as well as his brother, I don't know how else to describe what had happened at that moment other than terrifying, but I'd be lying to myself if I only said I was scared, something else happened to me right there, and I stood at the entrance for the next ten minutes thinking about it, there was a slight vibration with the pendant so I knew they were close by, I just couldn't see them no matter where I looked, ghouls would never do that right, plus if they ever used their powers they would immediately reek of raw or rotting flesh depending on what they would eat, but there was nothing like that with either of them, despite me being that close, they smelled like flowers, or a garden, what the hell? "Hey!" I heard a voice almost right up in my ears, and without hesitation I snapped again and swung a punch with my eyes closed, luckily Anna was much more skilled than I was and easily caught my punch. "Whoa there sis calm down." She chuckled, flashing her hand with a smile. "Calm down I'm here now." She smiled and held my hand again, she was assurance, and the canvas holder strapped on her back was even more assurance, because I knew exactly what it held. "Are you okay?" She asked, pulling me in for a hug and then taking a step back to look at her wrist, where she had her pendant like a bangle on her hand. "Sure enough." She hummed and looked around us several times. "What's going on?" Came another voice, and looking over Anna's shoulder I almost teared up when I found Father walking toward us with a guitar case in hand. "Where are they?" He asked, and Anna turned and shrugged. "Somewhere on campus, I know I said ghouls but now I'm not so sure, we were literally face to face, but I didn't smell anything raw about them, it was more like a garden of scented flowers," I spoke up, and father came and placed a hand on my head. "You did good on calling us over as soon as you found out." He praised me, and I felt a blooming joy in my stomach as I took his hand off my head and looked around to check if anyone had seen that, but it still made me happy, praise was just something he was terrible at, so to be this direct I felt like I had finally done something useful. "We can't exactly do a purging the middle of the day though, at a school no less." Anna looked at him and he sighed and gestured to the parking lot where the SUV was parked. "Assuming they plan on staying the day we might be able to catch them later on, I'm gonna let Katherine know." He stopped at the door and opened it up then walked away taking out his phone, leaving me and Anna to open up the back and sit. "It feels awkward because of the fact that I didn't even finish high school." Anna looked at my bag after I threw it in the back and then at me. "I know Mother warned us about Maki g friends, but you at least have one right?" She asked, and I being the obedient daughter I was chuckled awkwardly, causing Anna to almost gawk at me. "You really didn't make a single friend?" She asked shocked. "Isn't this your second year?" "Well, everyone already has their friends group right?" I asked and she went silent. "Not to mention, I've been bust studying, like she told me to, I have to learn everything I can now so I can teach my kids later on." "Mikayla, you're an extremely dull woman you know that?" She laughed out punching me on the shoulder, it felt like a brick had fallen on me but I was used to her playful punches already, so I just laughed out the awkward feeling with her until we changed the topic naturally, but amidst us talking Anna suddenly stopped and started looking around, not just her but me too, because our pendants started going crazy again. "Anna..." I reached to her but she stepped forward and brushed my hand away grabbing her canvas shell and preparing to open it, but the moment her hand touched that lid the pendants stopped vibrating and started releasing a steady glow from the small red gems in the middle. I saw Anna go stiff from shock and spin around toward me, as if she was going to say something, but in the literal blink of an eye, literally the time it took my eyes to close and open again both Jason and Justin were right there in front of me, Justin with his hand holding her own hand down on the lid of the canvas shell and his other hand firmly clasped on her throat, and Jason was sitting next to me with his hand around the back of my neck. "To think they'd compare us to something as lowly as a ghoul." Justin scoffed squeezing down on Anna's throat so hard I saw her eyes roll over. "Wait no!" I tried running forward but Jason's hand tightened around my neck too trapping me. "Please..." I tried turning my neck, only to feel a sharp pain Di into my flesh, and then I saw it, I saw their eyes, bright glowing crimson. "Please... she's innocent..." Anna's eyes focused again and she stared at me giving up on her weapon and dropping the sheath that hid it. "You don't even know do you?" Justin seemed to ease up on her throat allowing her to cough and fight to breathe again. "You have no idea what that girl is, there's no way you do, if you're willing to risk your life for her like this!" He snapped at her pushing her to the ground and turning as father approached. "What kind of lies have they been telling you?"Jason asked, drawing closer and pressing his lips onto the wound he'd made in my neck, taking a long breath and letting it out with a chuckle. "Did you tell you you're a hunt?" He asked. "That you're a part of their family?" He asked again, but he was whispering, so low I could barely hear him. "They're lying, these people aren't your family." "If you don't let her go ill-" "You'll what old man?" Justin turned to father staring at his guitar case. "Cut me down, impale me, drive a spear through my heart, chop my head off?" He fired off questions one after the other, popping his neck and rolling his shoulders. "In case you haven't realized yet by your pendant, we're leagues out of your skills hunter, if you even think to open that thing up I'll gut you where you stand before your hand moves an inch." He threatened, and I felt my stomach drop at the threat just the thought caused my entire body to shudder "Please... don't hurt them." I pleaded with them both and the life drained out of my throat when the two of them looked around at me, their expressions were hidden by the fact that I really couldn't see anything aside from their eyes. "Have they really brainwashed her that much?" Jason asked out and Justin lowered his hands and turned his back to both Anna and father walking over to me and leaning over me with his hand on my leg. "She's pretty deep in huh, they probably had her since she was a-" Justin stopped and I saw him shake over me and his eyes widen with anger before he turned around, there in his back was an arrow, and Anna was lowering her small crossbow. "If you want to die that bad, I'll grant you your wish!" Justin snapped and I saw the arrow fall out of his flesh and the wound close up instantly, and then I was no longer staring at his back. I felt it, I could practically see it as Anna was raising her crossbow again, I saw Justin's hand coming down and I could already see the direction blood was going to splash, I shut my eyes tight and screamed out, and everything went blank. "STOP!"
