Manveer assured Sweep that he would only talk to Zarina from a distance.

Sweep had convinced Zarina to meet, but her heart was filled with unease. She trusted Manveer’s words, yet her heart feared that he might do something wrong with Zarina.

Sweep had clearly warned Manveer that if he made any inappropriate move toward Zarina, the consequences would be severe. Manveer reassured her that he would only speak to Zarina from afar and wouldn’t go near her.

Still, Sweep was deeply worried about Zarina. She told Zarina that she would accompany her to the old hut.

**Zarina**: No, I’ll go alone.

**Sweep**: Come on, try to understand. I’m not letting you go alone.

**Zarina**: He’s not some ghost that I’d be scared of.

**Sweep**: That’s not the point, my friend.

**Zarina**: We’ve talked before. Today, I’ll make everything clear. There’s no point in walking this path.

**Sweep**: I know your temper. I know you’ll go there and end up fighting with Manveer.

**Zarina**: Please, try to understand. I’ll handle everything myself.

**Sweep**: You’re not going to listen, are you?

**Zarina**: No. I’ll make him understand myself. This new obsession of his with love—I’ll put an end to it today. Then we’ll see if he dares show his face here or even at his own haveli.

**Sweep**: That’s exactly why I’m saying, take me with you. I know how angry you can get.

**Zarina**: Don’t worry like that. I won’t do anything extreme.

**Sweep**: I’m scared. I don’t know what you might say.

**Zarina**: What will I say? I’ll just make him understand that he shouldn’t waste his time like this.

**Sweep**: For sure? That’s all you’ll say?

**Zarina**: Yes, yes, that’s all I’ll say.

**Sweep**: I’m still worried.

**Zarina**: Why?

**Sweep**: What if you say something harsh in anger?

With that, Sweep went back home, and Zarina got busy with household chores. Meanwhile, Manveer was impatiently waiting for Zarina.

That day, with no one else at home, Zarina had to handle all the work herself. She forgot about her promise to meet Manveer. Her mother returned home late, which meant Zarina couldn’t even go to the gurudwara that day.

Manveer was restless, eager to stand face-to-face with Zarina and talk to her, waiting anxiously for her arrival.

Sweep, too, was anxious, wondering what would happen between Zarina and Manveer. Had Zarina gone? If she had, would things escalate? Sweep kept trying to check on Zarina, but every time, her mother would give her some chore, stopping her from leaving.

Zarina’s mother came home late, leaving Zarina to manage all the household tasks alone. Caught up in the work, she couldn’t go to the gurudwara, and the promise to meet Manveer slipped her mind entirely.

Manveer was still waiting for Zarina. Though it had grown quite dark, he stood there, hoping for her arrival.

Zarina’s beautiful face was all that appeared before Manveer’s longing eyes. What else could he do but wait?

The night grew deeper, and Manveer knew Zarina wouldn’t come, yet he stayed there, waiting for her.
