First Person POV
We entered the mansion and the first thing I saw was the simplistic decoration. No gross luxurious items of any kind; just plain furniture. I was led to a quite large room which I deduced was an office. Once they told me to sit down and to wait, I was left immediately alone.
'Well, at least you're not chained right now. And the warriors didn't look as if they were bringing you to your death" I tried to comfort myself.
I tried reaching to my wolf for any input about our current situation but she was getting annoyingly restless. I decided to shut her out for the moment because she was just making me more nervous. Then, it hit me. The manly scent of burning wood and rain. I wiped my sweaty palms on my black pants and took deep breaths to calm myself. A ball in my stomach formed and I felt as if I was going to puke or pass out― maybe both.
The ebony door opened and there stood the most breathtaking human I've ever seen. He had piercing violet eyes covered with full, dark, and long eyelashes. His dark jet black hair framed his face perfectly and he had sharp facial features, including a killing jaw line. His lips moved but I was too focused on his fit form that I didn't hear a word he said.
"Hello?" his low, husky voice asked, getting me out of my trance.
My eyes met his and it took me everything to mutter two syllables: "U-uhm, hello..." I murmured.
"Your name" he demanded, his stare already burning the depths of my soul.
"Zara. Zara De Tarylius." I finally stopped stuttering like an i***t.
"So I've been told," he comments. "What brings a De Tarylius on my land?" his voice was rough and his violet eyes turned cold.
"Oh.. just non-official business. Personal reasons. I was really just passing through," I babbled. "I'm sorry for the bother and all the dramatics. I didn't even know I was on your claimed lands but your warriors wouldn't let me go, so I had no choice but to pull the family name card, even though I hate doing it. I swear there were no disrespect meant towards you, Alpha. I would've contacted you for permission if I could.. and knew but―"
"What personal reasons?" he interrupts my meaningless monologue.
I shot him a look that was clear; it was no one business and certainly not his.
He growled. "You're on my land. If you want to get out of here alive, I suggest you answer all my questions with the utmost transparency and honesty".
I glared at him. "With all due respect, I don't owe you s**t. You can kill me if you want but at this point, I really don't care anymore," I snap. "I told you that my passing on your land was a mistake and that I genuinely apologise for it, but our relation stops at that. As much as I can feel the sheer power rolling off of you in waves, you are not my Alpha."
The loud snarl that rippled the air almost made me regret even uttering those words to him, but I held my head high.
"You are walking on a very thin line" his guttural voice threatens. "I could chain you right now and make you beg me to kill you in mere minutes."
My eyes blazed with fury. I stood up, the chair sliding to the other side of the room. "And I could have you beg me to send you to hell by burning you alive right here, right now." I seethed with anger. "I suggest you show at least some level of respect to a member of the De Tarylius family."
We both stared down each other, not saying a word. His eyes were now almost black with only slight reflections of purple, signs of which he was furious and close to snapping my neck. After a few minutes, the man took a few slow breaths and his eyes regained some of its lightness.
"For someone who said she didn't like playing the family card, you sure take advantage of it often." he remarks, voice as ice cold as ever.
My face heated, and I retorted without thinking, "Well, for someone who is an Alpha, you sure don't feel any more powerful than an Omega." I lied. This man's presence could submit anyone, even other Alphas. The power washing off him was dominant and almost suffocating.
The corner of his lips slightly tugged upwards, almost resembling a smirk. "Did you not say, and I quote: 'as much as I can feel the sheer power rolling off of you in waves, you are not my Alpha' just 5 minutes ago?" he mocked me with a ridiculous girly voice that was, I assume, an impression of me.
"Oh shut up." I glared at him, embarrassed that I actually did say that.
He c****d his head, analysing me with a hint of amusement in his eyes, as if we didn't just threaten each other with painful deaths a few instants ago. At the same time, my stomach growled. Looking at the floor in embarrassment, I felt my face heat up.
"How long have you been running away?" he asked in a softer tone.
"What makes you think I'm running away?" I shot back.
He just shrugged, as if the answer did not matter. "Consider yourself a guest here. At least... for the moment."
I raised an eyebrow, trying to figure out why he became so welcoming to an intruder to which he had threaten death to.
"You don't seem like a threat to my pack.. yet. I do not see any reasons why I should consider you my prisoner, other than the fact that you have a smart tongue and a wild temper." he added with slight amusement.
I eyed him cautiously. "What does being a guest here entails? For how long can I stay? Not that I want to stay forever, just curious. Also, is it mansion the pack house? Why haven't I seen anyone else? Also, I didn't catch your name. And no offence, but I never heard of the Blood and Bones pack―"
His amusement dropped brusquely when I mentioned his pack. "You can stay for a week. This is not the pack house, this is where I, my Beta, Gamma and Delta lives. And my pack is none of your concern" he stated in a cold, monotone voice.
Taken aback from the sudden change of attitude, I simply nodded. He clicked on a button on his desk and said: "Maria, if you could please take this lady to a guest room."
A few seconds after, a small female entered the room, bowed to the man and only said in a small voice: "If you could please follow me, Lady."
I went to follow her and right as I was gonna leave the room, the deep voice of the man stopped me.
"Also... it's Dominic. Dominic Black."
