Chapter 1: Forced Marriage
How did she end up here?
Getting married at just 20 to a stranger who hated her to the core.
Aria could feel the unfriendly eyes of people seated in the church staring deep into her soul. She stood near the altar, with a bouquet in her hands. She squeezed the flowers as her hands trembled.
Aria stared at Adrian, the groom, who was dressed in a casual cloth with both hands in his pockets looking cold and unbothered while she was dressed in a short wedding gown
"Do you, Adrian Sterling take Aria Dawson as your lawful wedded wife?" The priest on the altar asked.
Adrian didn't hesitate. Without looking up
"I do"
"And do you Aria Dawson, take Adrian Sterling as your lawfully wedded husband"
Aria hesitated and her eyes scanned the crowd once more, her eyes landed on her father, stepmom, step sister and little stepbrother and they had different expressions on their face.
'They are all waiting for me to say yes, to enter this pit of hell' Aria thought, her eyes welled up with tears.
"What's wrong, isn't this what you wanted" Adrian said angrily as he looked at her with disgust.
"I.... I do" Aria said in a broken voice.
Then they both exchanged rings.
After that Adrian suddenly stepped down from the altar confusing everyone, and walked out of the church.
"Adrian!" Grandpa Sterling stood up from where he was seated angrily.
"Grandpa please I already did what you wanted" Adrian said coldly and walked out of the church leaving Aria brokenhearted.
Tears streamed down Aria's eyes.
'Everyone was looking at her with disgust, but this is not what she wanted, I never wanted this' Aria bent down slowly broken hearted crying profusely on the altar?.
'How did everything change so fast?'
Flashback........
Few Weeks Ago
It was in the evening after classes. Aria went to the pharmacy. She came out of the pharmacy with a small nylon bag filled with medicine she had just bought.
Her phone rang from her pocket, she took it out from her pocket to see the caller 'Mom'
"Mom I just bought your drugs, I'll be home soon" Aria said as she picked up the call.
"Okay dear please don't be late, I really need that medicine". Her mom said before she hung up.
Her Mom was battling a mild heart condition, they treated it with medicine as they could not afford the hospital bills.
Aria took a taxi home, her house was a very large storey building with their apartment on the tenth floor, she got out of the taxi after paying the driver and walked towards the building.
THUD!
A body dropped next to her with a loud thud, blood splashed on Aria's face and body.
