Two days later, just as the sun was setting, Hard Chief halted the group, and instructed them to set up camp. They were still a half-mile away from the herd and, they did not want to spook them as they grazed. After duties had been assigned, Hard Chief motioned for Charles and John Grayeyes to come with him. A half-mile away, they came to an overhang, where Hard Chief motioned for them to crawl the next twenty feet. Charles’ breath was stolen as he looked down upon the valley below.
