I feel Claire tense next to me. I turn my head to look at her and notice she’s as white as a sheet.
“What’s wrong? Do you know this man,” I ask her in a hushed tone.
“That’s my father. How did he get here,” she asks so quietly I almost couldn’t hear her.
“How did you find us,” I ask in a demanding tone.
“Well it was hard I’ll give you that. But I have lots of friends just like me. One suggested a witch. At first I was opposed to the idea but I’ve been following my daughter all over the country trying to fix the abomination I unwittingly helped create. Well I was always two steps behind but one day the trail went colder than the arctic. That was the moment I realized I have to play dirty to fix this mistake. So I came to this witch,” he explained as he wrenched a small woman wearing purple and black forward. “Once she did the spell I asked her to, I took her captive to ensure its success. That led me here to this hidden place. I didn’t even see the quaint village until after I crossed the boundary. Now that I’ve found what I’m looking for I’ve no use for her,” he said pulling the witch close.
With one swift moment he slit her throat. Her blood spurted out.
“No,” Claire screeched in despair. “How could you,” She wailed.
“This world is no place for monsters!”
“How do you even know she’s a monster,” Claire cried, unable to take her eyes off the witch's crumpled body.
“Anyone who isn’t human is a monster,” he retorted with disgust.
“Just because someone is different than you doesn’t make them a monster,” I replied with venom.
“Talk is cheap and I’m done with it! Give me my daughter now!”
“Over my dead body,” I replied, stepping in front of her.
“Carter no,” Claire whispers.
“As you wish,” He called out as he pulled a gun which I could only assume was filled with silver.
I shifted and took a step forward. John followed suit. Roland c****d his gun. John and I took off running towards him. He fired off a couple of shots which John and I dodged with ease. I closed in and swiped at him only for him to swipe back with his other hand cutting me good with the silver dagger. It only stung a little but by the time I turned around the burn was like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I waver on my feet and shake my head.
“All of my weapons are coated in wolfsbane,” Roland says proudly.
John lunges at him only to be stabbed with the dagger. He jumps back and collapses after a moment. I feel myself collapse as well.
“Enough,” Claire cries out.
The last thing I see before I pass out is Claire shift… but her wolf looks way larger than normal. Then darkness.
