I woke up as the sun peeked through the curtains. I rolled over, not ready to be up yet. I looked at a still sleeping Carter and decided to make some breakfast for us. I went down into the kitchen and grabbed some eggs and toast. I brewed some coffee. Just as I was plating up our food Carter stumbled into the kitchen.
“Coffeeee,” Carter mumbled like a zombie.
“Here baby,” I said, pouring him a cup.
“Mmmh, thanks.”
“I made some breakfast too.”
“What did you make?”
“Toast and scrambled eggs.”
I handed Carter the plate and we ate our breakfast. Carter did the dishes while I got dressed.
“Do you want to talk with John with me,” I asked Carter when he came to get dressed.
“Yeah I probably should.”
“Ok. When do you want to talk to him?”
“We should talk to Tara also, since she is his mate.”
“Ok, do you want to do a double picnic at the pier for dinner?”
“Yeah, I think that is the best plan.”
We headed out to work and Carter told me he’d talk to John and Tara about meeting at the pier. I went to the hospital for the first half of my day and the temple for the second. I left earlier than usual and headed to the store. I picked up some salad stuff, stuff for sandwiches, and some cola. I went home and packed it all together with some plates and cups. Carter met me outside and we headed to the pier.
We set up at the edge of the pier as far as we could get from the tree line. We started with eating and when we were done Tara brought out a cheesecake and some forks. We finished our food and stood staring out into the ocean.
“So John, Claire has a plan for visitors,” Carter started.
“Ok lay it on me,” he replied.
“I will enhance your gift and you will be able to make them go home. Then after they leave I will do a spell to put up a barrier so they forget we ever exist so they can’t come back. However, the barrier will only work on humans”
“Ok sounds good to me.”
“Ok are you ok with increasing John's power Tara,” I ask.
“Yes it seems like a solid plan,” she answered.
“Perfect. John meet me at the temple at midnight and I will perform the first part. Then tomorrow you can get them to leave. Tara as soon as they are gone I want you to help me perform the barrier spell.”
“Ok,” they said in unison.
With that we left. At 11:45 I went to the temple and waited for John. When he arrived I had him kneel in front of the altar. I pricked my finger and rubbed the blood across his forehead. Then I began to pray over him. We felt a rush of power and I knew it was complete. After that we went home.
Then the next morning I began gathering everything I needed to do the spell. Tara joined me in the temple. As soon as they crossed the border we began.
We laid the candles on the altar and began grinding our herbs. Then we put them in a glass bowl. Then we lit it. It glowed a brilliant blue moon. When it was burnt out the ritual was completed.
