Chapter 1
Rose pov:
"Rose! Get down here right this instant young lady! You are in big trouble!" I hear my mother scream at me from the bottom of the stairs. I sigh and drag myself out of the door from my room to the hall and walk down the stairs to be greeted by my mom's fuming face. I look up to her annoyed.
"What do you want?" I ask impatiently.
She points an accusing finger at me.
"I came to check up on Vasilissa, only for her to tell me you were up in your room with Belikov!"
I roll my eyes and internally sigh. Of course she thought I was with Dimitri. Has she no idea that I haven't seen him at all today because he's been off guarding Christian Ozera? Leave it to Lissa to say that!
"I'll have you know that Dimitri has been off with Christian all day. I haven't seen him at all. And anyway, Lissa dismissed me of my guardian duties because she had Royal business to attend to." I placed my hands on my hips in a defensive stance. After everything we’ve been through and still she chooses to treat me like an insubordinate, immature little girl.
Janines eyes burned into me for a couple more moments before her body relaxed.
"Fine. Sorry for jumping to such conclusions." She said.
"Don't worry about it.” A tense silence fills the hall, neither of us knowing what to say. We haven't had a proper mother daughter conversation in weeks. Thank God for Dimitri walking through the door before this could get any worse. I saw his eyes light up when he saw me. Those eyes, filled only with pure love, compassion and pride for me. He walks over in two long strides and grabs my waist, pulling me closer to him. My hands rest on his chest. I look up at him and smile.
"Hey stranger." I say. It had been more than 24 hours since I'd last been in his arms. It felt so good to be back there.
"It's been too long." He replies looking down at me. I can tell he missed this just as much as I did.
He pulls me up and kisses me gently. I smile and wrap my arms around his neck, bringing us all the more closer.
I completely forgot my mother was standing there until she cleared her throat loudly.
We pull away quickly. I turn around in his arms, so that I can face my mother but have his arms still wrapped around me from behind.
My mother looks uncomfortable, much to my amusement.
"I have business to get to. Good talking to you Rose. Nice seeing you Guardian Belikov."
"Please, call me Dimitri."
I repress a snigger as he says that.
My mum shifts her weight a little.
"I'd really rather not." She hastily left. I laugh and turn back around to Dimitri.
"You love watching your mother suffer don't you?" He says smiling a little.
"I love the look on her face when she sees us together. Priceless." I stare at his chest, tracing circles absentmindedly on his T-shirt. I look up to see him staring lovingly at me. After all this time, we still can't get enough of each other.
"I love you, Roza." He murmurs, smiling.
I smile. "I love you too, so so much."
He lifts my chin up to look at him and he brings our lips together for a long, sweet time.
I love him so much. Too much for my own good. Too much for anyone's good. I can tell already that our love, is going to be our downfall.
