Chapter 25

“Why would you wait to now to tell me that there was another town with another option?” I asked getting to my feet. “I never said it might be the answer. The guild master seemed to be aware of the source of where the issue lay but bearing in mind the time another hand, another gander wouldn’t be bad if we had other options.” I rubbed my head, shifting my gaze from the bed to the door. “How far is this town?” “About a month if we rode fast.” “A month! This is back and forth.” Luna nodded. I bit my lip as I thought about all the things that might go wrong. “What, this isn’t like you. Normally you would just hope right to it. Having second thoughts don’t think you could get it or is it the fear of being disappointed.” “Damn it, Luna. I am going, Oliver you best do a good job in ensuring that this place is fine.” Oliver placed a hand on his head. “I will try my best.” “Let’s go,” I said, walking towards the door. “It can’t just be us we need enough people to look like a force and to also seem it’s just one of us has left and not the two of us.” “I know it will be problematic if they think we both left together. Gather the people and I will be the one to leave and get in and you will wave me off but join later.” “No problem, it will be done, mayor,” Luna said as she disappeared. I sighed as Oliver chuckled. “Don’t worry, everything will be fine here. I pray for both your success and Seth that you can find something to help your father. Any help for the villagers that you meet, I am sure that they will join you on the way in your journey or help you make control easier.” “Using the villagers outside the other towns to take them.” I smiled. “I didn’t even think about that.” *** The plan had gone to fruition. And most people believed after being waved on by Oliver and Luna that I was the only one to leave. This proceeding was even grander than the one Seth had left, too. Three wagons and loads of villager’s guards surrounding it now renamed the tactical squadron. The citizens had all beamed in their patch of clothes as I left with the promise of more trade and better opportunities. Now as we rode along the road, a long distance away from the town, the door opened and in with a smile on her face was Luna. “That went well, did it not?” She asked as she sat close beside me. “It went as well as it could,” I replied, my gaze towards the carriage window. It was hard to explain to mother why I had to leave. She didn’t take it too well but still showed when we had left. I had asked Oliver personally to look after her and my father in our absence. I couldn’t blame the woman. Both her children were gone and her husband lay on a bed not destined to wake up. She was strong, and my heart tingled slightly as we left. For her, at least I could get this done. Either I or Seth would have to be the one to make father better again.
