Chapter 004

After a few minutes, she was done taking a shower. Wrapped in a towel, and drying her hair with another towel, she sat by the vanity. Ava was busy working on her computer, "Hey Tess. Do you know the Dashiel Empire is looking to hire an event planner?", she asked seriously, her eyes still glued to the screen. "Dashiel? The multi billion empire?", Tessa asked slightly surprised. "Yes. And that's your major ",she exclaimed excitedly. "Yes, but to get such position in a multi billion empire would require a lot of qualifications and professionalism. I don't even have a working experience on that, I've only worked as a secretary since my graduation", Tessa said skeptically. "Oh c'mon Tessa. You've got this. You're the best graduating student and you're super talented at this. It's not like you haven't planned some mini events in the past" "Mini events you say. How can it compare to various professionals who would also be competing for it", Tessa complained. "There's no harm in trying, is there? I'll upload your CV for the online application " "Do as you wish", she said and turned to continue dressing up. Tessa arrived at the Marvins Estate, dressed in a plain T-shirt and joggers, she tied her hair in a ponytail, giving off a charismatic and youthful vibe. Seeing one sports car was already a sight to behold, but she met about a dozen of them parked leisurely in the Estate, giving off an offensive air. 'What's going on?', she thought. The glasses were tinted making it impossible to see if anyone was in there. She got to the entrance of the villa and found guards all dressed in blacked, stationed around, all looking mean. Panic set in immediately, had her family offended someone powerful? Why were there mean looking faces all round the house? She stepped into the hallway and she could see the maids hurrying around looking tensed up, "What's going on? Who came to visit?", she asked one of them. "Miss. You're here. We don't know who it is, all the servants were forbidden to go inside since the guest arrived." the maid hurriedly explained. "Forbidden to go inside?", Tessa asked, feeling confused. "Your father is personally attending to them. It seems they're likely waiting for you", she said before scurrying past her to continue her duties. Tessa was even more confused,"Waiting for me? How important could they be for my father to attend to them personally?" She was about to step into the living room when she heard a mocking laughter beside her, Abigail Marvins. Legitimate daughter of the Marvins family and the only princess and heir to it's business, and yeah.. a boyfriend snatcher. "Tessa. You finally showed up?", she laughed, a hint of mockery evident in her tone. As the young miss of the Marvins family, she always carried herself with pride and grace. She wore a sunset yellow gown, that flowed to the floor, accompanied with a matching color cotton handfan she held. Her hair were tied in small braids and fell to her back with slight curls at the tip. She had a rather plain face, not too pretty but not bad either, and was doned in light fancy makeup that highlighted her outfit properly. "Why wouldn't I come? My father asked me to come.", Tessa responded. "Stop calling him your father. You bastard!", she yelled, she hated it when anyone called Diego Tessa's father. "But it's true. And when I'm done, I still have a score to settle with you", Tessa whispered, her eyes grim, she could feel the intimidating aura she possessed that very moment. Abigail suddenly laughed hysterically, leaving Tessa stunned, a sly smile curved on her lips, "Oh really! I'll be waiting for you. And after you get hit by what's coming, I'll see if you have the guts to still call him Father.", she walked away swaying her hips, not giving Tessa a chance to retort. Tessa looked at her retreating back, a sense of unease crawling up to her neck but she dismissed the thought and walked into the living room. The moment she stepped inside, her sapphire blue eyes met a pair of enchanting brown eyes, his gaze so deep it could bore a hole in her heart. They locked eyes for only a split second but Tessa felt something stir deep within her. He was dressed in a cape suit that draped to the floor, his gloved hands resting on the chair's handle. He looked like a god, making every other figure in the room appear non-existent. His beautiful face looked like they specially took a day off to mold it into the perfect sculpture. "Tessa you're finally here. You kept us waiting for so long", Diego hurried to where Tessa stood generously ushering her in. Tessa looked to the side and saw her mother stand quietly there, her expression showed she was just as confused as her. "I've been calling you for ages. Why didn't you pick up the phone?", he whispered. Tessa realized she had forgotten to take her phone when she left Ava's place earlier, "Come here, the esteemed guest is waiting for you", he said wearing a smile on his face. Tessa found this behavior even more weird, he was smiling at her, and not shouting and cursing at any slight provocation. He looked like he was afraid to offend someone. "Sir. She is here now", Diego scrambled to his feet, looking like an obedient puppy. "Hmmn", he responded and gestured to his right hand man, "Wrap up the goods" Tessa froze in shock, feeling her heart race in foreseen danger. "Mom! Dad! What are they talking about?" "Honey. What's going on here? You have refused to say a single word about this since I asked. What is he saying?" Viviane asked, also shocked and surprised at the sudden turn of events. "What goods are you talking about?", Tessa directly asked him, fierce look plastered on her face. Roy Dashiel smiled, the kind that gives you goosebumps and makes you shiver, his eyes expressionless and void of any emotions, "You. Tessa. You are the goods. You are my property now".
