Hidekazu
The dragon dormitory gardens were filled with bright swaths of gold and crimson leaves, their usual green a distant memory. Hidekazu held his fox fur-lined cloak close against the bite of autumn wind as he ventured from his room and toward the academy’s front gate, where he promised to meet Chizue and her friends for the Night Festival.
Going to the festival felt indulgent, especially after his most recent mishaps with Barame and Naoji; he needed to keep studying and training.
Though Naoji was gone, for now, Hidekazu still hadn’t figured out the meaning of Barame’s most recent lesson.
