When stars betray

Chapter 6: GROWN

“Iris, where are you from and who is your mother?” asks the elderly man, “How dare you?! My mom is the queen.” Replies Iris as she feels her voice is different. She raises her hands and looks at them in awe because they looked bigger, “What happened to me?!” she screams. Everyone in the room look at her in confusion and pity as they think she is mentally unwell. As the interrogation continues, a servant walks in and announces that the boy is awake but he is a wild one, he isn’t talking nor is he listening to orders. “Chain him up and bring him down here.” Says Rowan and so the servant leaves to go do as ordered.

The boy walks down the stairs with his head down, chains tied to his legs and hands, he has striking white hair, he is tall, thin with pale skin. The servant sits him down next to Iris’ heart starts racing, she feels the same strange anxiety as she felt when she first saw Laden. She recognizes him immediately. “Laden.” She whispers to herself and tries to stay calm. The elderly man proceeds to ask Laden his name but he doesn’t respond, Laden keeps his head down in silence. When the elderly man asks whether Laden and Iris knew each other, Laden quickly cuts him short and says, “No!”

Iris doesn’t say anything, all she wants is to go home to her mother and rest, she feels a lot of guilt from betraying Laden but he doesn’t seem to want to have anything to do with her. Also, she wonders how come they have grown so much. “You both have tattoo at the back of your ears, any chance you are related?” the man asks, Iris turns and looks at Laden, she sees at small black tattoo similar to hers. She had never noticed this before, “Is he a star too?” she thinks to herself as Laden answers the questions.

Moments later, Iris and Laden are put in a room where they will stay until the family figures out what to do with them while over at Moonveil university, Orna is struggling to keep up with the assignment in her exam. She finally finishes and joins Liya at the cafeteria. “How was your test?” she asks while taking a sit. “Tried my best, I can’t stop thinking about those two who fell off the sky yesterday.” Liya responds while taking a sip of her drink. “They look oddly different, did you see how handsome the guy is? I hope they keep them.” Orna says, “Hey, look, our driver is here. Let’s head home.” Liya says as the both stand up and walk towards this luxurious looking vehicle and get inside.

By the time Liya and Orna get home, it’s dawn already and diner is already being prepared. Lucian walks into Orna’s room while she is changing and utters, “You look stunning, as always.” “You shouldn’t be in here right now. Someone might notice.” says Orna as she speeds up what she is doing. Lucian walks up to her and kisses her lips softly while whispering, “I couldn’t wait any longer for you to get home.” Orna chuckles and stops Lucian’s hand that was already getting under her shirt. “Not now, please.” She whispers back and they both leave the room and head downstairs into the dining area where most of the family members were already seated.

When dinner is served, that same elderly man that interrogated Iris and Laden sits at one end if the long dining table, he is the head of the family and Rowan’s father while a woman that looks his age sits at the other end of the table, she is Thalia’s mother and also an important person in the family. Their Family is the strongest and richest family in the kingdom of Eldoria. As they eat and charter amongst themselves, the family head hits his fork against a glass signaling an announcement. “The two persons we found yesterday will stay here until more information is obtained. They might be of help to our family. For now, no one is allowed to talk about the to any outsider.” His voice echoes through the massive dining room.
