Chapter 1: A STAR IS BORN
“500 years ago, Elora and Ravena were not only stepsisters but best friends. They had grown up as two beautiful, strong princesses in the capital city of Arcadia, Avalon. They had powers because they were both stars (a star is a very strong god that can create and destroy whole universes.) One day, Ravena’s mother got really sick. She was dying and there was only one way to save her. She begged Elora to join powers with her so that she could save her mother but Elora knowing how dangerous it was, denied. Ravena felt betrayed, how could her best friend turn her back on her when she needed her the most. Since Ravena and Elora were the only two known stars, Ravena knew only Elora could help her but she believed there could be more stars hiding amongst civilians. Ravena started othering guards to search civilians’ homes. This caused chaos in the city of Avalon. Elora had to do something, she was Ravena’s elder sister and understood their world and powers better. Elora warned Ravena that if she didn’t stop, measures would be taken against her to protect the people. Ravena’s search only got worse. She demanded thorough searching even if it meant destroying buildings and scattering homes for days that turned into weeks and later on into months. Princess Elora who had become queen made the painful decision that if Ravena didn’t stop her obsession with finding stars, she would turn her whole kingdom into a graveyard. So, Queen Elora used her powers to exile Ravena into a dark spiritual realm in which she named “The underground”, along with her boyfriend who assisted her in her deeds. Ravena was hurt, she knew her mom would die without the powers she was searching for. Eventually, Ravena and her boyfriend started making children who then made children and then a whole generation of Ravena’s followers was created in the underground. In the above Avalon, it was known as a cursed place full of criminals who deserved to suffer. Years later in the present years, a baby girl with a white tattoo that read “Iris” on her left chest was born. She had strikingly beautiful black hair and black eyes. Her skin was pale. Her mother, queen Vaelis Evender gasped as she hugged her baby. “A star!” whispered Vaelis. Queen Vaelis didn’t expect to bear a star since she wasn’t a star herself. The little girl, Iris, grew up into a beautiful eight-year-old star and she lying right in front of me clearly not falling asleep.” Says Nana while getting up from Iris’ bed. “Story time is over now, you should go to sleep little Iris, tomorrow is your first day at school after the long holiday. Goodnight.” Nana adds. “Night night” says Iris as Nana turns off the lights to Iris’ room. Iris gets comfortable in her bed that’s full of dolls and pillows as she slowly drifts asleep while thinking of the story Nana just told her.
