Alessia Moretti’s life takes a sharp turn when her father, the head of the Moretti crime family, sells her into marriage to secure an alliance with a rival Mafia family. Heartbroken but determined to uphold her family’s honor, Alessia reluctantly agrees.

Her new husband is Dominic “Dom” Salvatore, a man known for his cold precision and bloody reputation as the Salvatore enforcer. But Dom harbors a secret: he never wanted this alliance. He bought Alessia's hand to protect her from a more dangerous fate—one orchestrated by a hidden enemy determined to destroy both their families.

As Alessia and Dom navigate a marriage built on lies, they uncover a tangled web of betrayal, secrets, and forbidden passion. In a world where loyalty is everything, they must decide if their love is strong enough to unite their warring families—or if it’s the weapon that will shatter them both.

Sold to the Enemy
I couldn’t breathe. The walls of the grand study seemed to close in on me as my father’s words echoed in my head. “You’re marrying Dominic Salvatore.” Marrying Dominic Salvatore? The name alone sent a shiver down my spine. He was the enforcer of the Salvatores—cold, ruthless, and feared. I wasn’t even given the courtesy of a choice. It wasn’t a proposal; it was a command. I gripped the edge of the desk, my knuckles turning white. “You can’t be serious,” I whispered, my voice trembling. My father leaned back in his chair, the weight of his decision heavy in the air. “This is for the family, Alessia. The Moretti name is in jeopardy. Luca has been making moves behind my back, and we need this alliance to survive.” I wanted to scream, to cry, but all I could do was stare at him in disbelief. “So, you’re just... selling me off? To him?” “It’s not like that,” he said, but his eyes betrayed him. It was exactly like that. I took a shaky step back, the room spinning. “You knew Luca was betraying us? And instead of stopping him, you’re using me as a bargaining chip?” He didn’t answer, and that silence was louder than any explanation. --- I stormed out of the study, my heart pounding in my chest. Every step felt like I was walking into a trap I couldn’t escape. The mansion was eerily quiet, the weight of my father’s decision pressing down on me. The sound of footsteps behind me made me freeze. I spun around to see my uncle Luca standing there, a sly smile on his face. “Alessia,” he said, his voice smooth but laced with something darker. “I hear congratulations are in order.” I glared at him, my hands clenched into fists. “You knew about this, didn’t you? You’ve been scheming behind my father’s back.” Luca chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Scheming? That’s such a harsh word. I prefer to think of it as... strategy.” “You’re destroying this family,” I spat, my voice rising. “And now, I’m the one paying the price for your greed.” He stepped closer, his smile fading. “Watch your tone, Alessia. You may be your father’s daughter, but that won’t protect you forever.” --- Later that night, I sat in my room, staring at the ornate mirror on my vanity. My reflection looked back at me, pale and uncertain. I was supposed to be strong, fearless. Instead, I felt like a lamb being led to the slaughter. A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. Before I could answer, the door opened, and my father walked in. “We leave in the morning,” he said simply. “For what?” I asked, though I already knew. “To meet Dominic Salvatore. The engagement will be finalized.” I stood abruptly, my chair scraping against the wooden floor. “I’m not going through with this. You can’t make me marry him!” My father’s face hardened, and for a moment, I saw the man everyone feared. “This is not up for debate, Alessia. If you refuse, the Moretti family will fall. Do you want that on your conscience?” His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I wanted to fight back, to scream at him for putting me in this impossible position. But deep down, I knew he was right. Luca’s betrayal had left us vulnerable, and without this alliance, we were finished. --- The next morning, the car ride to the Salvatore estate was suffocating. My father sat beside me, silent and grim. I stared out the window, my mind racing. As we pulled up to the sprawling mansion, my heart sank. The Salvatore estate was a fortress, its high walls and armed guards a stark reminder of the world I was being thrust into. We were greeted by Dominic himself. He stood at the top of the grand staircase, his piercing blue eyes locking onto mine. He was taller than I expected, his presence commanding and intimidating. “Welcome,” he said, his voice deep and emotionless. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stand tall. “I’m not here by choice,” I said, my voice steady despite the fear bubbling inside me. Dom’s lips curved into a small, humorless smile. “Neither am I.” His words caught me off guard, but before I could respond, he turned to my father. “Let’s get this over with.” --- The meeting was a blur. Terms were discussed, agreements were made, and I sat there, numb to it all. I felt like a ghost, invisible and powerless. When it was over, Dom leaned close to me, his voice low. “You’re not just here to be my wife. There’s more to this deal than you realize.” “What do you mean?” I whispered, my stomach twisting. He didn’t answer. Instead, he straightened and addressed my father. “She stays here tonight. The arrangements are already made.” I shot to my feet, panic rising. “I’m not staying here!” Dom’s eyes met mine, cold and unyielding. “This isn’t your choice anymore, Alessia.” --- That night, I sat alone in the lavish guest room they’d prepared for me. The weight of everything crashed down on me, and for the first time, I let myself cry. But my tears didn’t last long. As I wiped my face, I noticed a shadow move outside the window. My heart skipped a beat as I crept closer, peering out into the darkness. Someone was there, watching me. Before I could react, the door to my room burst open. I turned, my breath catching in my throat. It was Dom. His expression was unreadable, but his next words sent a chill down my spine. “They’re here. And they’re coming for you.” "Who's here?" I asked, my voice trembling. Dom stepped into the room, his tall frame casting a long shadow in the dim light. He shut the door firmly behind him locking it with a sharp click. "Lucas's men. They know you're here, and they're not wasting any time." My pulse quickened. Luca's men? My uncle? The betrayal was deeper than I had imagined. "What do they want?" I whispered, though I already knew. Dom didn't mince his words. "You. Dead." For a moment, the room seemed to tilt. My knees weakened, and I grabbed onto the back of a chair to steady myself. "Why? He's family!" I protested, my voice barely above a whisper. "Family means nothing to men like Luca," Dom replied coldly. "He's threatened by you. As long as you're alive, he can't take control of the Moretti family completely. Killing you solidifies his claim." My thoughts raced as fear tangled with anger. "And you?" I challenged. "Why are you helping me? What do you get out of this?" Dom's expression hardened. "You think I'm doing this out of kindness? Think again. If you die on my property, this alliance falls apart, and my father will have my head. Keeping you alive isn't personal, it's business." The sharpness of his words cut, but I didn't have time to dwell on them. A loud crash came from downstairs, followed by the unmistakable sound of gunfire. My heart leapt into my throat. "They've breached the gates," Dom said, his voice calm but laced with urgency. "Stay close to me." He grabbed my wrist, his grip firm but not painful, and pulled me toward the door. I resisted, planting my feet. "I'm not going anywhere with you!" I snapped. His jaw tightened, his patience clearly wearing thin. "You don't have a choice, Alessia. Do you want to die here?" I hesitated, my pride warring with my survival instinct. The gunfire grew louder, closer. I nodded reluctantly, and Dom wasted no time leading me down the hallway. The mansion was chaos. Salvatore guards were shouting orders, their voices drowned out by the deafening pops of gunfire. I stumbled as Dom yanked me forward, weaving through the chaos with the precision of someone who had done this a thousand times. We reached a hidden door at the end of the hall. Dom pushed it open, revealing a narrow staircase leading downward. "Go," he ordered. "Where does this lead?" I asked, my voice shaking. "To the safe house. Move!" I didn't have time to argue. I descended the stairs as quickly as I could, the cold stone walls pressing in on me. Dom was right behind me, his presence both reassuring and unnerving. At the bottom of the stairs, we emerged into a small underground room. The space was dimly lit, furnished with a worn leather couch, a table, and a few weapons mounted on the walls. Dom locked the door behind us and grabbed a handgun from the table. He checked the chamber with practiced ease before turning to me. "Stay here. Don't make a sound," he ordered. "What? Where are you going?" I demanded, panic rising. "To clean up this mess," he said, his voice flat. "You're just going to leave me here?" His eyes met mine, icy and unreadable. "You'll be safe here. I'll handle the rest." Before I could protest further, he was gone, the door locking behind him. --- Silence filled the room, broken only by the distant sounds of gunfire. My mind raced with everything that had happened. I had been sold, betrayed, and now hunted. And the only person standing between me and death was Dominic Salvatore, a man I didn't trust. Minutes felt like hours. Every sound made me jump, my imagination conjuring terrifying scenarios. I tried to focus, to think of a way out of this nightmare, but fear clouded my thoughts. Suddenly, the door burst open. I gasped, backing against the wall. But it wasn't Dom. A man I didn't recognize stepped inside, his face shadowed and his gun aimed directly at me. "Well, well," he said, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "The little Moretti princess, all alone. My heart pounded in my chest. I pressed myself against the wall, my mind racing for an escape. The man stepped closer, his finger hovering over the trigger. "Say goodbye, sweetheart." Before he could pull the trigger, a deafening bang filled the room. The man crumpled to the ground, blood pooling beneath him. I looked up, my breath hitching. Dom stood in the doorway, smoke curling from the barrel of his gun. His eyes were cold, his jaw tight. "Didn't I tell you to stay quiet?" He said, his voice low and dangerous. I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could, Dom's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, his expression darkening as he read the message. "They've taken your father," he said grimly. My stomach dropped. "What do you mean? Who?" Dom's eye met mine, and for the first time, I saw something that looked like fear. "Luca," he said. "Your father's gone, Alessia. And he's not coming back unless we act fast.”
