Chapter Fifteen

Vanessa was so excited to meet Crystal and showing Crystal a glimpse of their lifestyle that she had not been sleeping well but, Vanessa would try to sleep well tonight. The jets were ready, Vanessa had informed Quinten that they could leave no later than noon, and it was going to be nice getting out of the country for Thanksgiving. Vanessa saw the changes in Quinten which included a change in priorities, inquiring about what was happening in the kingdom, and Crystal was one of his top priorities.

Vanessa and Nicholas were more at ease stepping down by the end of the year but, Vanessa wanted Quinten and Crystal to have the opportunity to finish school. Vanessa knew that Quinten only had this school year left before he graduated but, Crystal had two school years left. Though this would give Crystal the time that she needed to learn from Vanessa how to be queen. Vanessa had this wonderful feeling that Crystal was going to change the vampire world but, Crystl may not be aware that she was making a difference.

Nicholas was Vanessa closely for he did not want her to overexert herself. Vanessa had less energy than she had a year ago but, they could not pinpoint the cause. Quinten had told Nicholas about Zander’s plan to attack them while they had Quinten with them for the Thanksgiving holiday so, they made the decision to follow Quinten’s suggestion of sending Nicholas’s and Vanessa’s body double to Whitlock Manor to pose as them. Of course, they sent the same number of guards that Nicholas and Vanessa would normally have with them along with twenty extra just in case.

Quinten suggested that they try to pull off a coup d'état since we had Marissa inside Zander’s organization feeding us intel. Quinten’s idea was not the best plan of action because that would mean that they would need to make a move before Nicholas felt that they were ready. Nicholas knew that Quinten Crystal, and their friends were training but, they needed to know exactly what they were up against. Nicholas would need to get a roster of the people that were in their army and what their abilities were. This would allow Nicholas and Quinten a chance to strategize and pick the best people suited to attack Zander and his followers.

The biggest hurdle to consider was that if they decided to execute Zander it would put Stephanie’s life in jeopardy and Nicholas would not consider executing Zander until they found a way to sever the connection between Zander and Stephanie. Nicholas had decided to tell Crystal of his decision when they had a moment to speak alone. Nicholas thought that he may have a solution but, only if Crystal was willing to participate. We all hoped that Zander would want to rejoin the family with Stephanie but, Nicholas did not see that as an option now.

Michael was happy for Quinten and Lucas about finding Crystal and Regina but, things in his life were not going well. Michael’s schoolwork was falling behind and he felt that he deserved to find his mate before Brody did. At least Brody felt the same way Michael did and so they have been spending more time together than normal. They commiserated with each other and complained about feeling left behind by Quinten and Lucas. Quinten and Lucas had at least spent time with Michael and Brody this week but, they felt that Quinten and Lucas were checking their phones more than necessary.

Michael was pulled from his thoughts as Quinten walked into their apartment. Quinten said, “Hey Michael what’s going on?”

Michael rolled his eyes and said, “Nothing much. I must tell you dud that Brody and I feel left out.”

“How so?”

“We barely get to see you and Lucas anymore now that you have found your mates. Do not misunderstand me, we love Crystal and Regina, and we are happy for you both but, we wish that you would spend more time with us.”

“I am sorry that I have made you feel that way and I am sure that Lucas will apologize as well once you have spoken with him. I promise to set a night aside every week to spend time with you and Brody.” Quinten said softly, “You have to promise to keep this information to yourself.”

“I promise to keep the information you are about to tell you to myself.”

“We are going to Greece, and we will be visiting Hephaestus Institution while we are there. Once we return, we will be planning a Christmas ball which, the University of Cartinag Los Angelos will be invited to attend. You and Brody will have several opportunities to meet your mate. Please do not lose hope.”

“I shall try not to lose hope. Thank you for listening to me and being honest with me.” Michael said with a smile. Quinten nodded as he headed off to his room to pack for our trip. Michael went into his own room to pack as well.

Brody went over to check on Michael but, stopped when he heard the conversation between Michael and Quinten. Brody was glad that Michael took the time to talk to Quinten on his behalf before they traveled. Brody turned back to his room when Quinten said that he was telling Michael information that he did not want anyone else to hear. Brody went back to his room to pack feeling much better about travelling with Quinten. We were all excited that Crystal was joining us on this trip. Even though we all knew Crystal and we were all friends with her, we all wanted the chance to see how she would react when she met Nicholas and Vanessa for the first time.

Quinten knew that he had not been spending enough time with his friends and he was proud of Michael for calling him out on it. Having made the promise to spend more time with his friends Quinten was able to pack without worry. Quinten would need to have a conversation with Lucas if Michael or Brody did not beat him to it about making the same promise he had. Crystal made Quinten realize that just because he had found her did not give him an excuse for neglecting his friends. Crystal would still be my top priority but, we both had lives and friends. Quinten cringed at the thought of Stephanie still being with Zander instead of with them. Quinten and his father would be discussing the plan to rescue Stephanie while they were in Greece. Quinten just hoped that Stephanie could hold out for a few more weeks while they figured out the best way to bring her home.

Quinten heard Crystal enter his apartment and said as he poked his head out of his room, “Come on in angel. Make yourself at home. I will be done momentarily.”

Crystal walked into Quinten’s room hearing the dejected town in his voice, shut the door, and asked, “Whatever is the matter my prince?”

“Michael and I had a conversation about Michel and Lucas feeling left out since Lucas and I had found our mates. It does not seem that Regina will be joining us on our trip and Lucas does not have any idea why for Lucas feels that Regina is keeping things from him. I also feel that I have failed you my angel for Stephanie is still with Zander.”

Crystal went over to Quinten, put her arms around his waist, hugged Quinten tightly, and said, “I love you and you are not responsible for everything that is happening. Let me take on some of the burdens that you are dealing with. As for Stephanie still being with Zander, I know that you and your father are trying to produce the perfect plan to rescue Stephanie from Zander. Just concentrate on what you can control which is spending more time with your friends and helping your father make plans to rescue Stephanie. I will take care of everything else.”

Quinten enclosed his arms around Crystal, took a deep breath, and said, “I love you princess. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Now, if I do not pack, we will never get out of here.” Crystal smiles up at Quinten and leaves his room. Quinten finished packing quickly and joined everyone in the living room.
