Crystal grabbed a glass of champagne as a waiter passed by with a tray full of them. Crystal could feel someone watching her so, she casually turned to one of the women in the direction that she felt the stare coming from and found a pair of gold brown eyes staring at her. Crystal excuses herself from the group and before she lost her confidence, she walked over to the man looking at her intently. Crystal noticed as she came closer to the man that he was very handsome with his rich mahogany brown hair and muscular physic. Crystal asked him as she stepped in front of him, “Is there a reason that you are staring at me as if I were the last woman on earth?”
Quinten smirked at the tall woman with strawberry blonde hair and striking lilac eyes standing in front of him and said, “Does anyone need a reason to look at a beautiful woman.” Quinton just realized that he could see in color. He almost tilted his head at the woman before him but, controlled himself.
Crystal’s flesh almost broke out into goosebumps due to the man’s deep sexy voice and his smell was earthy yet masculine. It was odd how wonderful this man smelled to Crystal. Crystal smiled at his comment and said, “I suppose not.” After taking in the rest of the man Crystal held her hand out and said, “My name is Crystal.”
“Quinten.” Quinten said while taking Crystal’s hand in his. Little tingles shot up both of their arms as Quinten’s hand involuntarily squeezed Crystal’s hand a bit tighter. Quinten was trying to hide the shock from his face as he realized that Crystal was his soulmate. Who would have thought that Quinten would find his soul mate on the first night at Darkmyth University?
“If you will excuse me, I am going to return to my friends. I am sure that I will see you around Quinten.” Crystal said as she extricated her hand from Quinten’s grasp and sauntered back over to her friends watching their interaction.

Quinten was in a conversation with a group of men that were around his age telling them about the fraternity that he was in the process of starting. Lucas was helping Quinten piece the things that they still needed to decide on together but, the men seemed excited about joining a fraternity. When a tall hourglass figured woman entered the party Quinten could not take his eyes off her and realized that he could see in color as soon as this strawberry blond-haired person with lilac eyes entered the room. Quinten watched ash the woman followed another woman who was slightly shorter than her with brownish hair and green eyes to a group of women their age. Quinten knew one of the women in the group was Ursula, who would be starting a sorority on campus. Quinten and Ursula had chatted earlier this evening about doing a Christmas Ball or something of that sort with their organizations.
Quinten was surprised by the straightforwardness of the woman in front of him. The woman’s eyes were a bluish-purple color which he found fascinating. The woman was tall, slender but, toned. When the woman walked to Quinten and asked, “Is there a reason you are staring at me as if I were the last women on the earth?” Her voice was like velvet and seductive. Quinten was trying to figure out why the woman’s scent was so intoxicating and familiar to him. Quinten quickly figured out that the woman standing in front of him smelled like wildflowers and reminded him of a field of wildflowers that grew near his home.
Quinten quickly regained the composure that he someone how had lost in the few minutes since this woman approached him and said, “Does anyone need a reason to look a beautiful woman.” Quinten realized that he could see in color because he had been able to tell the color of the woman’s eyes and hair. As Quinten shook Crystal’s hand, he could no longer ignore the signs that this woman was his soulmate. The vibrations racing throughout his whole body as his hand contacted hers was the final sign, he needed to confirm his suspicions. As Crystal walked away it took everything within Quinten to not follow her.
Quinten watched Crystal’s interaction with the woman who was slightly shorter than her with brown hair and green eyes and found that they seemed like they were family. Quinten would need more about Crystal and her companion. Quinten could ask Ursula for more details about them but, he would have to make it seem related to the event that they would be hosting. Lucas turned to Quinten and asked, “Are you okay? You seem distracted.”
“That is because I am distracted my friend. I am sure that Crystal, the woman that was talking with me just a moment ago, is my soulmate.”
Lucas turned to look at the woman with strawberry blonde hair that had just walked away and said, “You are certain?”
“I am more certain with each passing minute. I have been able to see in color and feel my emotions since she walked into the room. When I shook her hand, I felt vibrations throughout my entire body if it is not the signs that she is my soulmate then I do not know what else it could be”
“Well, you are one lucky man because she is hot.” Lucas said eyeing Crystal from the top of her head down to her feet.
Quinten punched Lucas’s arm playfully and said, “You keep your eyes and hands off of her.”
“What happens now that you know Crystal is your soulmate?”
“I find out what I can about her and her companion.” Quinten discreetly nodded in the brown-haired woman’s direction.
Lucas said as he nodded, “Do not worry Michael, Brody, and I can help you in that effort. Crystal’s companion is hot too.”
“Just do me a favor and try not to screw this up for me.” Quinten said a bit concerned about getting his friends getting involved.
Lucas looked at Quinten and said, “We would never that to you. We know how important it for us to find our soulmates. I cannot even imagine what you are feeling right now.”
“It is overwhelming that is all I can tell you. I am going to step outside for a moment. Keep an eye on her for me?” Quinten asks while finding my way out as quickly as possible. As Quinten walked outside, he felt the chilly air hit his face and as the door shuts to the communal area his vision and emotions return to normal. Quinten felt as if his world was back to normal but, it now felt bereft because the emotions and color from his world was gone once more. Quinten had never wanted a mate but, now that he had met Crystal, he did not want to lose her because he instantly loved her. Quinten needed time to think and figure out what he really wanted.

Crystal turned to Stephanie and said softly, “This sorority sounds like an amazing opportunity.”
Stephanie nods her head in agreement and then asks quietly with a raised eyebrow, “Who was the man that you were speaking too?”
“His name is Quinten. He seems nice.”
“What happened when Quinten shook your hand?”
“I felt tingles travel throughout my body, why?”
“We will have a conversation about that in our room once we are done here. There are things that I have not told you about our world.” Stephanie said a bit guiltily.
“Why?”
Stephanie said, “I did not think that you were ready to hear the information that I kept from you. I also did not expect you to find your soulmate so soon.”
“I am more confused than when this conversation started.” Crystal said as she scrunched her nose.
“Do not worry I will explain everything later. Let us continue to mingle and enjoy the rest of the evening. Ursula says that we can expect something in the mail in a day or two.”
Crystal claps enthusiastically and says, “This is going to be so much fun. I am excited to see how this semester is going to turn out.”
“I agree. Now come on let us get to back to having fun. I see someone I know.” Crystal follows Stephanie as they make their way through the crowd. Crystal watches Quinten step outside and frown. After another hour Stephanie grabs my hand and took off towards their room.
As soon as the door closed Stephanie says, “Go get comfortable and meet me on the couch.” Crystal did as Stephanie asked and plopped on the couch as she returned with popcorn and chocolate. Stephanie takes a deep breath, “I have been keeping information from you thinking that you were too young to hear it and because I did not think that you were ready to hear it because of the early trauma that you experienced in the beginning of your vampiric journey. But now that you have met Quinten, I believe that I cannot keep this information from you any longer.”
“What on earth are you talking about Steph?” Crystal asked with a worried look on her face.
“In our world you are meant to find a soulmate.”
“What do you mean by find a soulmate?”
“For you I am not sure what finding a soulmate might mean or what you might feel. We all learn that your soulmate is your other half of us. Our soulmates make us better, whole, and change our whole worlds. Crystal, the vampire that turned you is a vicious monster which, gave you the ability to see in color and can feel your emotions.”
“What happens when you meet your soulmate?”
“I do not have any idea what will happen when you meet your soulmate. I believe that the tingles that you felt earlier this evening are a precursor to what will come for you. For your soulmate he would have been able to see in color and feel things that he has never felt before. There may be more as well but, there is no way for me to know what exactly what would have happened. For most vampire like me we see in black and white and feel no emotion. I have never met another vampire that can see in color and can feel their emotions. It is nice being able to live through you sometimes.”
Crystal just sat there in silence and then say softly, “So you think Quinten is my soulmate?”
“I do not know if Quinten is your soulmate. You will need to ask Quinten what happened when you met him to find out if he is your soulmate or not. Sometimes it can take days or even weeks with you it could have just taken those few minutes to affect him.”
“I hope I run into Quinten again soon then. I want to know him.”
“I will ask Ursula if she knows anything about him when we meet her for lunch tomorrow.” Stephanie says with a smile.
Quinten returned to his room after speaking with several other men at the welcome party about the fraternity. Quinten finally decided to call it a night after another hour and went to his room. Once Quinten was in his room with the door shut and locked, he called his father, Nicholas. Nicholas answer after three rings, “How was the welcome party?”
Quinten rubbed his left temple and thought straight to business I see. Quinten responded, “There were some people still there when I left a few moments ago. Your intuition was correct, people are finding their soulmates.”
“I am glad to hear that my plan is working. Have you found your own soulmate my son?”
“I have father.”
“What is her name?”
“Crystal. She is rooming with a woman named Stephanie. It seems like they have been together for quite some time.”
“I will see what I can find out about this Crystal and get back with you. Did you find candidates for your fraternity?”
“Any information that you find out would be helpful. Yes, we were able to find candidates to pledge this semester.”
“I am glad to hear it. I will call you tomorrow with the information on Crystal.”
“Talk to you tomorrow.” Quinten hung up, took a hot shower, and wished that his conversations with his father were less businesslike but, maybe once he stepped down it would become easier.
