Chapter Four

1850 Words
Zander was fuming, how could he not have noticed or felt Crystal in his classes today? Zander might be able to save this situation if he could get his head out of his ass. Why was I tossed aside while Quinten received all the love and affection from our parents? Zander felt that he was the bane of Vanessa’s and Nicholas’s existence. Zander was able to find out about Venessa’s premonition and what she had seen in Zander’s future if he stayed with the family but, Vanessa knew that the premonitions were meant as a warning and had a chance of not happening. Yet Nicholas and Vanessa had still decided to give him up and that is why Zander wanted revenge. Zander had traveled the world learning what he could about his so-called family. Zander wanted to take what his ‘family’ had built and make it come crashing down around them. While traveling Zander found other vampires that dreamed of a world without a royal family. Zander had been able to convince these vampires that they could take down the royal family if they joined together. Zander watched from the shadows of the trees that surrounded the Lilith wing as Crystal and Quinten talked. Crystal accepted Quinten’s dinner invitation which caused Zander to cringe. If the bond between Crystal and Quinten continued to become stronger Zander would not be able to make Crystal forget that Quinten existed. Zander had sent a letter to one of his informants that contained Crystal’s name, room number, and a copy of some of the personal information he was able to get his hands on. Zander had would make his informants life his if he did not get him more information by the end of the week. ^ ^ ^ Quinten had sent flower, a dress, jewelry, and shoes to Crystal’s room, he wanted tonight to be perfect. Quinten was trying not to overdo it but, he could not help but spoiling Crystal a bit. The fact that Crystal could see in color and feel her emotions may come back to bite Quinten in the ass. Quinten would need to tread lightly and not tell Crystal the information that his father had found out about her potentially being more powerful than all the royals. Now, that Quinten was accepting the fact that Crystal was his soulmate it would be extremely difficult to keep anything from her because the bond made him feel like he needed to be honest and upfront with Crystal. Quinten could only hope that Crystal would not freak out once he did decide to tell her all this information. At six o’clock there was a sharp knock-on Crystal’s and Stephanie’s dorm room door. Crystal went to the door, opened it, and found a man standing on the other side holding two boxes tightly tied together with a yellow ribbon which, matched the roses that he was holding in his other hand. The man handed her the flowers and asked politely holding out the boxes, “Would you like me to put these down somewhere in particular?” “You may place the boxes here next to the door,” Crystal said while motioning her left hand to the area next to the door and opening the door a bit more with her right hand. Once the man set the boxes down, Crystal shut and locked the door. Crystal walked into the kitchen, found a vase under the sink, filled it with water and placed the flowers into the vase. Crystal went back to the boxes next to the door, picked them up and went into her room with them. Upon further inspection Crystal found a card on top of the smaller of the two boxes. Crystal opened the card and read: My beautiful Crystal, I hope that you do not mind but, I took the liberty of purchasing you something for you to wear tonight. There are shoes as well. (Hopefully, everything fits.) I hope that you enjoy the flowers. I cannot wait to see you tonight. Sincerely, Quinten Crystal’s smile, unties the ribbon around the boxes, sets the shoe box aside and opens the dress box finding, a purplish-blue dress. The dress had spaghetti straps, an empire waist, and flowing skirt that would stop just above her knees. Crystal returns to the kitchen to drink another glass of O+ blood before going to get ready for her date. Crystal did not want her cravings to feed to distract her from enjoying her evening with Quinten. When Crystal thought she had consumed enough, she put the cap back onto the bag of blood and placed it back into the warmer. Crystal quickly cleaned the kitchen, went into her room, closed, and locked the door before going into her bathroom to take a bath. Crystal added her lilac scented Epsom salts once the oversized tub was filled with hot water. After soaking for a half hour Crystal gets out of the bath, dries herself off with one of the plush towels stacked on top of the towel rack hanging near the tub and then goes into her room to get dressed. Crystal French braids her hair, pulls out her make-up, applies gold eyeshadow, rose pink lipstick, and mascara. Once Crystal is satisfied with her make-up she walks back into her room, opens the shoe box, and gasps when she sees a pair of Jimmy Choo Lang Strappy Patent Leather Sandals. Since the dress was plain Crystal decided to wear gold and nude sparkly bangles with gold sparkly strappy matching earrings. Crystal looked at herself in the full-length mirror before checking the time. Crystal still had about ten minutes before Quinten was supposed to arrive so, she went to Stephanie’s door and knocked. When Stephanie opened the door she gasped and said, “You look amazing. Where did you get the dress?” “Quinten sent it to me.” “Quinten must have an eye for fashion or know someone that does because you look stunning. And are those Jimmy Choo shoes?” “Yes, they are.” “Quinten must be trying to make an impression on you, my friend.” “Well, I am not sure how I feel about him sending all this to me but, it is nice that he wants to make it special.” “I am sure that this is all so new to you that your mind is trying to catch up with your heart. Just remember to take your time and enjoy the experience. Are you planning to ask Quinten about what happened when you touched each other?” “Yes, I am planning to ask Quinten what happened when we touch. You know that I do not like beating around the bush.” Stephanie nods her head in agreement and said, “I do not expect you to be any different for Quinten and if you do then maybe he is the one to change you for the better.” Crystal laughs wholeheartedly and says as there is a knock at the door, “Do not wait up Steph. I will let you know if I am later than expected.” Stephanie nods her head with a smile on her face. When Crystal opened the door for Quinten, he caught a whiff of her scent it caused Quinten to see in color and feel his emotions. It was like a light switch had been turned on. The dress Quinten chose for Crystal was lovely and the jewelry Crystal had chosen was simple yet went very well with the dress. Quinten said a little huskier than he meant it to, “You look amazing Crystal.” “I have you to thank for that Quinten.” Crystal continued with a smile, “The dress is beautiful thank you for sending it to me.” Quinten was wearing a blue blazer, khaki pants, white button-up shirt, and brown shoes. Quinten looked very handsome with his hair slicked back the way it was. “I must admit that I had help picking it out. I do not know about fashion.” Quinten said taking Crystal’s hand and asked, “Are you ready to go?” “I just need to grab my handbag.” Crystal said turning and grabbing a small bag from the table near the door. When Crystal turned back with it in her hand she said, “Now, I am ready to go.” “Then let us be on our way. I have made a reservation for us for seven-thirty.” Crystal smiles up at Quinten as he leads her down the hall to the elevators. Crystal gasped when she saw my Porsche Cayman R. When we got to the restaurant we were shown straight to our table. As we sat down, I asked, “What did you find out about the man that shares my classes with me?” “Nothing that I am ready to share quite yet.” A waiter came, Quinten ordered a bottle or merlot, and food in French. “I hope you do not mind I took the liberty of ordering for you.” Crystal smiled and replied in French, “I gathered as much.” Quinten raised an eyebrow at Crystal, and she continued, “French is my native language. I lived in France until my parents moved when I was thirteen. Where are you from originally?” “Transylvania. I moved here to the America’s about 100 years ago with my parents.” “Precisely, how old are you Quinten? And how long have you been twenty-four?” Quinten could see Crystal putting all the pieces together in her head. Crystal would figure it out once he answered her questions. “I am 297 years young. I have been twenty-four for fifty years because I have been waiting on my soul mate before I choose to turn twenty-five.” Quinten watched as Crystal placed some of the pieces together. Crystal asked, “Can all vampires choose when they age?” “No, not all vampires can choose when they age. Only pureblood vampires or royals can choose when they age.” Crystal’s eyes snapped to Quinten’s as she asked, “I am guessing that there are few princes or pureblooded vampires that exist in our world. You are Prince Quinten are you not?” “I am Prince Quinten.” “And are you, my soulmate?” Crystal asked not taking her eyes from Quinten’s. “You are very upfront. I like the fact that if you want to know something that you ask.” “Are you going to answer my question?” Crystal raises her right eyebrow as if challenging Quinten not to answer the question. “I am your soulmate, Crystal. How do you feel about that?” “I know what it is I feel when I touch you but, I know for me that might be the only thing that will tells me that I am your soulmate. I would like to know you as a person.”
