I think we're gonna need a bigger boat!

We show up to the game in all our Senior glory, enjoying these cold autumn nights. We meet up with the rest of the gang Hannah and James (couple), Silas and Jasmine (couple), Ron, Aiden, Samantha and Hallie. They all wave and say Hi in unison.

I get along with everyone, I guess that's the perks of being in a small town. I really appreciate that, these people this place it all feels like home. There's an awkwardness in the air and I know its because Ashton and Samantha are going to the dance together. I do my best to ignore her lingering stares I know she wants to see my reaction and frankly I don't have it in me. He cannot be my end all be all, I am a strong woman with goals and dreams and he cannot define me.

As I am praying to myself, willing myself to be stronger. I feel "him" before I see him. He is warming up with Justin, my heart does a little flutter but for who? That's weird? Ashley nudges me before she screams out "Hey Justin" he quickly runs over says "Hello" to everyone and respectfully introduces himself, I can see all the girls shift in there seats and if girls could show off their boners I'm sure they all had one even those in a relationship. I slightly giggle not releasing Justin heard me. 

He tilts his head down to my ear and whispers "What's so funny"? I look at him again time slows and I swear I can see the atoms in the air. I go to answer him when Ashton comes running in. " Hey Ashley, how come your not that enthusiastic to say Hi to me? He gives her his cocky smile she shakes him off and says " My cousins cooler than you" she shrugs her shoulders and turns to talk to the group.

He looks at me and says, "Hi Monica, how are you this fine evening? I respond in a robot voice,"Fine" he gives me one of his mischievous smiles and turns to Samantha. " Hey Gorgeous you ready for the dance tonight." A blush appears on her cheeks and she just nods her head. We look at each other and she is secretly telling me "I'm sorry" with her sad doe eyes. I just give her a pitiful smile.

As Justin was about to continue talking to me, Ashton nudges him kinda hard and tells him we have to get back to the practice field. He looks back to me one more time with a sad little smile and starts jogging away. Ashton gives me a hard look, like I did something wrong. I just shrug and look away.

How dare he , the game ends we won 46-32 what a game. We head back to our school, the journey is a boring one on the way back to our shore I hear a wolf howl at the crescent moon. How beautiful I think the sound.

We finally get back to the school and on our way to the gym I can hear the music and smell amazing food. As were walking I tell the gang to head in I needed to go grab something from my car. As I head over to my car I hear Ashton and Justin having a heated discussion.

"I told you to leave her the fk alone, you don't understand" Ashton states.

"Oh I understand, you treat her like s**t and because she has continued to allow it, you keep taking more." Justin see's me coming and tells Ashton he's hitting the showers.

Ashton's sad gaze lands on me and he lets out a deep breath before following suit and going to shower.

All I can think is "Dam, we're going to need a bigger boat"
