Diana's Pov
The pain I felt in my abdomen was grueling, every inch of me felt like I was pricked by needles, I felt cold. But what was more was the coldness in my heart. It was so damn bright! I mumbled something, and then it went a bit darker.
“M… much better…” I spoke softly, but realized my throat was parchingly dry.
“Water.” I said, my voice pleading. Instantly, I heard a rustle, and a few seconds later, a cool glass cup was placed on my lips, wetness touching them.
Immediately, I began to greedily gulp down the water. I welcomed the feeling that came with its coolness.
“Be careful, so you won't choke.”
I heard a calm voice say from above me. Once I finished drinking water, the person laid my head back on the bed and patted my hair endearingly. His scent was like a soothing balm to my soul, it made me feel safe for some reason.
“Go to sleep.” his deep voice said, causing shivers to go down my spine. Good shivers.
“But I'm not…”
“Be good and go to sleep. I'll come back to check on you.”
As if I was under a trance, I drifted off to sleep once more, vaguely feeling his caring touch and caresses.
A FEW DAYS LATER
I groaned as I opened my eyes, once again, it was so bright that I had to stay in a daze for my eyes to gradually get used to the lightning in the room.
“Wait… Room?” I instantly stood up, and then promptly hissed when I felt tear jerking pain run across my midsection. I looked down and my stomach was bandaged, heavily bandaged.
“Who did this?” I murmured, “Where am I?” I raised my head to look around, carefully ignoring the pain. I was in a small room; it wasn't so small since it was two times bigger than the room I used to sleep in. It was painted in deep colors, and I felt a sense of familiarity in those deep colors. Purple and black.
I swung my feet off the soft bed, and stood up ungracefully. The pain came loose, but I couldn't stop walking till I got to the balcony and I duly gasped.
It was huge! From where I stood, I could see the lands, big, great and evidently taken care of.
“Where am I?” I asked, leaning over the railings to check.
“You shouldn't be out of bed, lady. Your wounds might rupture and you'll have to stay in bed throughout the week again.” A slightly hoarse voice came from the door and I turned around instantly, my eyes widening when I saw a pale male standing at the door, carrying a tub of water.
“Who are you? Where am I?”
“It's better you lie down so I can explain everything to you, I'm not a bad person. I'm just a person who is trying to take care of you, trust me.”
“Usually, only bad people say that before they target their victims.” Despite saying that, I still followed his directions and sat on the bed. He claimed not to be a bad person, he hadn't done anything to harm me, and I couldn't sense him lying.
“Do you remember what happened before you fainted and fell off the cliff?” He suddenly asked.
I looked down on my stomach silently, but it was clear that I remembered everything. However, I was confused, “How did I survive the fall?”
“The cliff wasn't that high for a werewolf to fall and die. From my observations, you're quite a strong woman. However, even though you survived, we had some implications that might have ruined your chances of getting pregnant, ever. But we don't know for sure.” The man put down his tub on the ground and cracked his knuckles, explaining at the same time.
“I don't understand what you're saying. What do you mean by ‘my chances of getting pregnant?” I asked, and then realized, “Are you talking about my inability to give birth?”
I smiled bitterly, “I already knew I was barren; apparently I was fed some type of poison so… I'll get over it. Some day.” My voice went low at the end of the sentence. I felt aggrieved, I loved children. I thought I would have children of my own one day, and take care of them just like my parents took care of me. I was too presumptuous it seemed.
“Infertile? You're getting me wrong here, lady. You weren't infertile previously, but I think you might be now.”
“Can you please explain? I don't understand what you mean?” I was beginning to get irritated, did this man intend to poke at my sore spot? I had wanted to mourn for my unborn children and the fact that I would never be able to birth a child again and yet, he continued to get on my nerves.
“Just get to the point already and say whatever it is you wish to say. Stop dilly dallying any longer!” I snapped, my eyes were beginning to water.
“Alright. After we found you at the bottom of the cliff and saved you, we brought you here. I ran some tests on you in order to make sure that you weren't allergic to anything that would make you die on us. I also ran some pregnancy tests on you because we sensed something in you that wasn't there after we saved you, but thankfully, I ran those tests just before you finished bleeding your guts out. Any later than that, I wouldn't have been able to get results.” He began to speak.
“After I did the tests and the results came out. We found out that you were actually pregnant. A month pregnant but due to the fall, you lost your baby and…”
I zoned out just after he declared I was pregnant… Pregnant? How could I have been pregnant, that wasn't possible. Zara said I was infertile. How… My hands went directly to my wounded stomach.
“It can't be… But... How could…”
“I don't know what you've been told, but it wasn't true. You were pregnant but now, the baby is gone.” His words brought me back to reality.
Before I knew it, tears started dripping down my eyes, dropping on the bed covers, “I was… I was pregnant.” I sobbed, my shoulders shaking. My wishes would have come true, but all my chances were taken away by Zara and Aldrich.
I clenched my hands, hatred visible in my eyes, my heart black with anger.
“Zara… Aldrich, I promise you. I won't let you go free, I promise I'll fight you to the death.” I said vehemently, rage burned just underneath my surface.
“You would have to get a lot of help with that.” Another voice said, it wasn't the doctor, it was someone new. New but familiar. His scent made my heart skip a beat, I turned my head to see him.
There he was. Hair the color of a black gem, eyes dark and the color of blood. There was a dark red mole under his left eye, and he was tall, with a lean but muscular body. He was attractive and he took my breath away.
But I recognised those eyes. Only one person in the entire world had red eyes, Alpha King Christopher, the ruler of the Werewolf World. And he was right here, in front of me.
