Chapter 1: Madame Unknown
Daniela's POV : "Daniela!! Daniela, wake up!! We are going to be late!" My beautiful dream with a hot guy was interrupted by my best friends voice. I didn't really wanted to wake up but… She began to shake me so violently that she didn't gave me any other option. Just then the reality hit me… Really hard.  " What the hell! Which time is it? Don't tell me I'm late… Again!"  "Get your ass out of the bed! We have ten minutes before the bus dives off!!"  "Whoooo, what??!! Why didn't you wake me?" I jumped out of bed and began to search for clean clothes. Eva already stuffed me into bathroom with hands full with a pair of jeans, shirt and hoodie. And then with a menacing glare she slammed the door behind me.  "What do you think I am doing this few minutes?! I called you on the phone, then rang your doorbell. How can you sleep so tightly?! Not even a bomb could wake you! Meanwhile, the next time the ON button on your phone is there for turning the device on! All ordinary people leave their phones on at night but you have to be unique! What's then the purpose of having one?! " Eva yelled behind the closed door. I understand her rage. I can't really remember if I ever got somewhere in time. But what should I do? Right now I have to focus on getting in time to the bus stop.  After I dressed I just took my bag and run with Eva behind my back out of the door. When I locked the door I found Eva furiously hitting the elevator button. Just my luck. No answer. So I began to improvise and sat on the stair railing and slide down the first floor. I lived on the highest floor so there was no time to waste. Eva run behind me but I was quicker and it was fun. We got out on the street we made fast run to catch the bus. When you are late you don't think about anything just catching up time so you know… We run like crazy through the street and made aur own car havoc. Whatever, my luck again forbade me to made it in time. So the bus just drove away before our own eyes. Someone up there really hates me….  Eva tried to run after him. Screaming and waving.  "Ok!! And thanks you ashore!! The next time I see you I'm definitely going to make a talk to you about using rearview mirror!"  I didn't know if I should laugh on her behavior or to try calm her down. Whatever. Now we had plenty of time before the next subway route.  " Hey Eva, what do you say about a good breakfast? " " Okay, but you are paying. It's your fault that we are not going to make it for the first class. " What should I say about that? She had a point. So I waved my hand to show her to move after me. I made my way between two big buildings then I turned right into a narrow road full of old paper boxes and smelly trash cans. It wasn't the best way, but it was the shortest and I needed to get into an overheated room quickly. It was December and freezing outside but in hurry I just didn't think about an option to take a jacket with me. I know. And I believe in myself being smart. Today it looks like my brain forgot to come out of bed with me. Can't blame it. Good think I left my scarf and gloves in school bag. The scarf was long enough to use it as cap and turn around me. So it helped a little bit. Even though I needed to be in a bit warmer place. When I saw my favourite little bakery I began to feel like Christmas came earlier. The smell, the heat. Yes, couldn't decide which makes me feel happier. Doesn't matter. First thing running in and then decide what my stomach likes.  Ok, hmmmm… Eva likes banquettes and for me something sweet… A croissant could be okey but a sweet donut could be even better.  I never had a problem with my weight. My body looks like it could easily find place at Victoria's secret catwalk. Ideal proportions with full breasts, flat belly, little round ass and long slim legs. I can get dressed even in a rag and would look good but that's not my concern. I'm more comfortable when I melt into the crowd. Which is for me a little complicated. My parents knew what they were doing when they were making me. Sometimes I make jokes that they used all the genetic potential on me and that's why I never got siblings.  My face has lightly oval shape with soft features, big peridot green eyes and alabaster white skin without no trace of imperfection. Oh, and not to forget that I'm a natural redhead. This combination makes me stand out even if I don't really want to.  But that's not all. Not that I try to prays myself. I can't even tell that I am stupid. I love chemistry and periodic table is a holy greal for me. Right now I am working on my master degree in this subject.  I placed the order and waited for the seller to back our food into thin paper bags. The place was pretty crowded so after receiving our goods we had to leave. Back to the freezing air. Yeaaaah! Eva immediately began to chew on her banquette. I on the other hand buried myself deeper into the thick woolen scarf and tried to imagine that I am in Mediterranean Islands. We walked through the Main street full with every kind of shops to the nearest staircase down to the subway station. The road wasn't so long but Eva just had to make breaks to look into the windows and make comments about the collections. So when we already made it down the stairs I felt like frozen vegetable. We sat down on a free seat and Eva immediately removed her makeup bag from her purse and began powder her nose and add lipstick to her lips.  "Do you want?"  She asked me and offered her makeup. "No, thanks. I didn't even had enough time to clean my teeth. Not to think about brushing my hair and so on. I must look like a homeless person and my breath definitely smells that way." Eva began to laugh at my behalf. But like the best friend she is, she searched through her bag and find spearmint bubble gum for me.  " No need to worry, friend. Everything has its solution. And about your hair. It looks pretty damn perfect to me. You know.. If the cosmetic companies should be reliant on your use of makeup, they could already begin to pack their bags." I took the bubble gum and smiled at her. She knew how to make my day. My BFF in all her glory.  Few minutes later it was time to get on the train. We made it to the last free seats. I sat opposite to Eva so I turned around to look at her. "Do you have plans for the Christmas holidays?"  I asked and hoped to get a positive response.  "Nope. Something special in mind?"  "Totally! What about elongated weekend in the mountains full of skiing, snowboarding and having fun?"  "Who's in?"  "Mum and dad. Obviously… But I'm done playing the third wheel. They can have their private time and we will have some fun."  "Not bad. And where exactly should it be?"  "Heh… If I knew… Dad's coworker recommended the place. All I know is that it's somewhere in Romania in Carpathian mountains. Who cares? If there is a good hotel and enough snow, than I'm in."  "Okeeeey, you have a point. So count me in! Which means we have a long day before us. After school we are going shopping!!!"  Eva full of excitement began to babble about all the new clothes she needs to buy. Then she counted the stores she needs to make an appearance, but I didn't listen. My attention got an older humpbacked woman. She slowly made her way through the corridor between the seats and searched for a free place. Baggy clothed with face covered under a woolen scarf. No one even gave her a look. So when she came near me I offered her my seat. She smiled at me sweetly and padded my arm. It was a good feeling to help someone. I just grabbed for a place to hold and waited to the rest of the drive. Few minutes later we began to near to our station. I made my way to door for a quick exit, but I felt someone grab my hand from behind. When I turned around I found the old woman smiling at me.  "My dear, for your kindness please take this. I'm sure you will eventually find it really useful for the destiny awaits just behind a corner." And with a smile and a wink she pushed a small packet into my hand. It was a little messy pack wrapped in an old oily paper.  " Hmmm, why thank you. It's ready appreciate it but I can't take it… " I turned my attention back to the old lady but she was missing. What? Where the hell is she? She couldn't just disappear! I looked everywhere, even back though the corridor. Nothing. Strange... " What are you doing?! Come already, or we pass the station! " Eva began to pushed me out of the train. I utterly forgot where I am or what should I do.  Just after the train left again the station I began to snap back to reality. Eva waved before my face to get my attention.  " Did you see where old woman went? In one moment she was before me and the next… she just vanished." Eva looked at me like if I lost my mind.  "What? Which old woman? I didn't see anyone."  "The old granny! I let her sit on my place."  Now she really looked at me like if I was hallucinating. Damn it all! How could it just be trick of my imagination if the little dirty pack was in my hand??!  "Then tell me where THIS comes from?!!"  And I shoved the package before her nose. Yes. I was mad. Her shopping tirade made her blind to all around her. Why should I feel like the madwoman? No, I definitely know what I saw. My nerves were on edge so I didn't wait for her reply. The dirty paper wasn't even properly glued together or sealed with a tape. It didn't last long and I had it neatly spread. My jaw dropped. Wrapped inside was a beautiful fine silver necklet with a cross shaped pendant. The cross had little colourless gems inserted inside and soft cutted pattern. I couldn't get my eyes of it and it felt just right after I took it into my hand. I can't really describe it but I felt calmer, more at peace. Without hesitation I placed it around my neck. The cross fell between my breasts and just the chain stayed visible. That was just okay with me. Then my attention snapped back to the paper. Eva already read the text written on it and looked like ready to faint. Her anxiety made me even note curious. The writing says: The time has come to crack the stone,  to save the soul to be your own.  So take the shield and make it clear,  that you will win against the fear.
