Chapter 21

2689 Words

Dimitri The door to the Wolf King’s room closes behind them with a loud slam, the sound echoing down the hall like a taunt. A metallic rattle follows, and I am quite certain that it was the flimsy iron latch on the other side. I glower at the wooden door like any of this is its fault, when in truth, I only have myself to blame. She is in there with him. Again. Because of me. Because I pushed Bane too far. Because I let my temper and pride steer the night, and my entire plan backfired on me. I had not expected the wolf to completely lose control and drag her away like a starving beast finally loosed from its chains. But I shouldn't be all that surprised. I can feel my bloodlust rising; that was supposed to be me in there with her. Eliciting those soft, breathy moans from her lips.
