In an alternative universe, the tension between the Russians and Americans lasts much longer than through the 1980s. In fact, after years of experimenting, the Russian government has finally created young, living super soldiers.

Their scientists have made breakthroughs in neurobiology, the structure of human DNA, and embryology that allows them to miraculously create several human traits together and then nurture and grow these artificial humans in an incubation chamber. Dozens of these experiments have failed over the last several decades, but there is finally a breakthrough in 2005. However, this breakthrough is a tragic end for the scientists who helped create and grow this artificial human.

Waking up in the middle of the summer in a Russian laboratory, Nick breaths his first breath and starts his journey in this new world. He knows nothing of the language or the world around him, but he has help navigating with the help of another artificial human.

Cursed with a violent start to his life, Nick and his friend must run from the Russian government across the globe just to survive. These two start their journey in Russia, manage to make it to France, and find their final destination the United States of America, which they understand is the home of the free and the brave. However, they learn reality is not always what it seems.

Join Nick and Nikki as they seek to live a normal life in America, despite everything about them and the life they live being everything but normal.

The Awakening
Boom! Bang!  There was a loud crash outside.  Outside… whatever I’m//.  I’ve just woken up from… my sleep.  I try to open my eyes and can’t for some reason.             Bang!  I heard several screams before I heard silence.  What is going on?  I try to move my arms or legs or anything.  For some reason, I can’t move anything at all.  Several moments go by and I heard small noises.  There’s someone still out there.  I think… there are people in trouble out there.  There are more than one voices that I hear out there.             I manage to open my eyes a little bit.  It hurt to open them.  Everything is blurry.  I’m under water right now.  I can feel that I’m breathing through a tube.  I can’t really feel anything else, and I still can’t move any parts of my body.  After a few moments, my line of sight becomes clearer.  There’s a figure in front of me.  Holy crap!  She is staring right at me.  Our eyes meet.  We stare at each other for a few moments.  She put her hand on the glass.             We break eye contact when I start to look around at my surroundings.  I’m underwater in a giant glass tube.  This person outside my tube tilted her head slightly while just staring at me.  She finally moved over to a computer near my tube.  She started operating the computer by pressing buttons.  I’m not sure if she knows exactly what she’s doing.  But she looks back at me and then leaves.  The girl grabs a laboratory coat on its way out.  Well, what exactly did she do?             My tube starts to make some noise, and I can feel the water in my tube start to move.  Wait… my vision is starting to get a little blurry.  My head starts spinning, and… and… I can’t see.  I’m starting to drift away…. then everything goes dark. ***************************************             Oh my god.  My head hurts so bad.  It’s throbbing like nothing I’ve ever felt before.  Honestly, I don’t remember anything from before waking up last time and seeing that girl.             I don’t remember anything at all.  That starts to scare me a little bit, but my head continue to hurt even more to worry about that right now.             It took me a few minutes to gather my composure.  I hacked and coughed for air several times.  Wait a minute… I’m not underwater anymore, but I’m still in my glass cage.  I must have dropped the breathing device because I could no longer feeling that in my mouth.  I slowly but finally get my eyesight back.  I look around.  I’m still locked in this glass cage, there are a couple of people on the ground, there are red lights flashing, and oh my god – they are blinding!             The girl who was staring at me through my cage appeared to be gone, and there are no other people standing or walking around.  Just two people laying on the ground.  Well, two people that I can see anyway.  There could be more around here somewhere, but my vision still wasn’t great plus there were several tables, computers, and other objects that kept me from seeing everything in this room.             I still can’t feel much of my body.  I haven’t yet picked up my head, but I was leaning against the glass wall.  My head felt so heavy that if I would lift it up, I felt like it would fall off my shoulders.             An eternity seems to pass, but I finally start to feel my hands and legs and the rest of my body.  I can feel the inside of my body moving and unsettled.  I start to move my arm in the air.  My hand feels so weak, and it hurts to move it.  I must do something, though.  I don’t know what’s going to happen next.  Will that girl come back?  Did she really kill these people on the floor?  Why didn’t she kill me?  Would she kill me if could have?  Did she mean to kill me instead of just draining my container?             After several minutes, a door opens.  I haven’t been able to move much, so I feel like I’m helpless prey.  What do I do?             Three people enter the room.  They are wearing the same clothes as the two people laying on the floor.  They immediately rushed to my glass cage and start talking to each other.  I can’t make out what their saying.  I start to fixate my attention on what they are saying.  I clear my head and focus on energy on them.  After a few moments, I can hear something.  At first, it’s quiet, but as I focus my attention, the room gets louder and louder.  Holy crap!  Make it stop!  It’s a loud buzzing noise!  Whatever is making the noise, it makes a constant and patterned buzzing sound that goes along with the flashing red lights.  Whatever is making that sound is probably also flashing the lights.  I want both gone.  Now!  Argh.             On the bright side, hearing this noise helped jerked my arms and hands into motion.  It was once hard to make movement, but now my arms automatically jump right at my ears.  With my hands covering my ears, the sound mostly goes away.  The red lights don’t go away.  I close my eyes.  This helps but I can still see the flashes even with my eyes closed.  Whatever this place is, I don’t blame that other person for leaving.  This is a real-life nightmare!             The people stayed outside my glass cage.  I open my eyes just enough to see what they are doing.  One person is now gone, so there’s just two people right now.  The other two are monitoring the same computer that the runaway person operated.  What are they going to do with me?             I watch them for several minutes.  They’re mostly watching the computer, but they occasionally glance at me.  It’s clear that they are unease right now, but I don’t know what they are doing.             One of them clicks a button, and they both look right at me and start staring.  Out of the corner of my eye, I notice there’s a small tube attached to me that’s starting to change color.  It looks like a liquid is going down the tube, which is attached to the back of my neck.  No!  I don’t know what it will do, but I have a strong feeling that I’m not going to like it.  Every ounce of strength in my body is ready to fight it off.             I grab the small tube and ripe it out of me. OUCH!! Argh. That was way more painful than anything I had felt up to this point!  It was even more painful than the noise.  I feel a warm liquid running down my back.  It was not the liquid that was coming out of the tube, though.  That small tube is now in front of me with that liquid just falling into the floor.  I can’t see this liquid, but it… it… it feels like it’s coming out of me.  I… I… I feel like part of my life is draining from me, and that frightens me!             What do I do?!  The two people are also in a panic.  They start pressing buttons, and I start to get the feeling that they are going to kill me.  I have a lot more tubes and wires attached to me, so I start pulling them out one by one.  I feel some pain with each pull, but each pull is less painful than the last.  With almost each one that I pull out, I see what is probably running down my back.  There’s a red liquid that comings out of a tiny hole in my body where the tube used to be.  There are wires and tubes, but the wires don’t make that same liquid come out.  Whatever is going to happen with me pulling these tubes out, I’m sure it will not be as bad as whatever these people are trying to do to me.  I just want out of this glass cage!             One person continues to work at the computer, but the other person goes to a closet and grabs something.  It’s a short handheld device that he is holding with both of his hands.  It’s a light green color, but it’s really small.  I can’t make out any other details, so I don’t have any idea of what it’s about to do.  I know that it won’t be good, though.             That person ran over to my cage but on the other side – the back side of the cage where I hadn’t even looked.  There was a bunch of machinery, so I didn’t think there was much behind it.  The man is right by the cage now.  He is twice as big as me.  The girl was about my size, so these men were twice as big as her as well.  I wonder what happened to her.  If she was caught, these people would overpower her for sure.             The two people look at each other and nod.  The person with the device raises it up at me.  I don’t know exactly what is going to happen, but it’s not going to be good.             What the hell?!!  My glass cage starts to lift up!! It is cold as hell outside the glass!! Never mind – I want back in!!             My body is definitely not used to the outside air.  My vision starts to go blurry again, and my skin feels really weird.  The person with the device shoots something at me.  I couldn’t see what was coming, and I couldn’t brace myself for whatever was to come.  Whatever he shot at me, it hit my chest.  I felt a sharp pain, but it was brief and didn’t seem to do much.  I’m still alive!!             Well, I think I am… I feel like I need to sleep again.  But I can’t!  I’m too vulnerable to whatever they’re going to do to me!  I pull out what the person shot at me.  It has a really sharp end that went right through my skin.  Again, I can feel some liquid come out of my body.  I frantically start to move around, try to get away, run, anything that will get me away from these two people.  All my effort was in vain, though.  Everything started to go dark again… and now I couldn’t see anything at all. ***************************************            Sometime later, I’m conscious again.  I’m not dead?  That’s a start.  Once again, I can’t see anything, and my head really hurts.  This situation is becoming all too familiar and all too annoying.  I can’t hardly feel anything, though.  Where am I now?  Am I still in the same glass container?             Okay, let’s calm down and think.  I need to feel out my surroundings.  I… I… I can feel… I don’t know.  I need a little more time to regain my strength and figure out what’s going on.  I don’t think I’m in that giant tube anymore, but I can’t figure out exactly where I’m at.             Several moments pass by.  My body isn’t moving, but I can finally move my hands and legs. I’m finally starting to wake up and feel good.  Wait a minute.  Something isn’t right.  My wrists and ankles and bound, so I can’t move.  I don’t squirm around too much, though.  I’m not sure if anyone else is around, but I don’t want to alert them to the fact that I’ve woken up if there are people around.             I’m laying down on a cold and hard surface.  On the bright side, there isn’t any of the bright lights and loud sounds that were there the last time I was awake.  I sure hope they don’t try to tell me that they have been looking out for my best interest.             After what seemed like an eternity, I could finally start to open my eyes.  Slowly and painfully, I could finally see.  Everything was somewhat blurry, though.  I remained as calm and relaxed as I could.  I still didn’t know for sure if anyone was nearby, and I don’t know if I’m “supposed” to be awake.             My vision finally comes after another passing eternity.  The room is somewhat dimmed.  I slowly move my head, but even my head is bound to this hard surface.  I can move my eyes but not my head.  How am I supposed to get out of here?             There was someone in the room because they now came to my attention.  He came over, looked at me, and started using some sort of handheld device.  What was he doing?  This person had a similar set of clothing to the last few people who have been in the room, but I couldn’t tell if he was one of the same people who were in the room the last time, I was conscious.  The same people that the other captured person attacked.             This guy stopped next to me, looked at me, and started writing something on a device.  What was he doing?  It was making me uncomfortable.  What do I do?  I wanted to get out of here.  I wanted to break free of this prison.  It was so constraining.             The man just stood there and continued to write on the device.  I just looked at him or looked at the ceiling.  I couldn’t really see anything else in the room.             After a while, the person accidentally dropped the thing he was writing with.  I quickly took advantage of this mistake.  He dropped it only a couple of inches from my hand.  While my wrists were bound, I could still move both my hands a few centimeters.  I quickly grabbed it.  The thing felt hard and mechanical in nature.  The man was using it to write on another long and flat device.  The device that I grabbed had a bright red light coming from it.  It wasn’t bright enough to blind anyone, but I think it could if the light was amplified.             The person was not happy that I grabbed what he was writing with.  He tried to grab it out of my hand, but I knew that was another mistake.  He tried to squeeze two of his fingers into my hand to get his writing utensil back.  I quickly took those two fingers and snapped them back as quickly as I could.  The feeling of bones breaking felt like a painful experience for him.  He screamed out in pain, and I could tell he wasn’t expecting my aggression.  The look on his face was not great.             As all this was happening, there was something I couldn’t explain.  This person was two or three times bigger than I was.  His fingers were twice the size of mine, yet I could easily overpower this person.  Why was that the case?  Did I already know his weaknesses without even realizing it? or was I super strong?             I looked into his eyes as I held his two fingers in my hands.  All I could see was fear and pain in his eyes.  I sensed that I had control of the situation, even if I didn’t know exactly how I was going to get out here or what my next step would be.             I didn’t let up, though.  The scientist tried to pry my fingers open, but I wouldn’t budge.  The longer I held on, the more panic I could see in its eyes.  After a few moments, the scientist reached around for anything that could help him pry its fingers free.             He found a sharp pair of scissors a few feet away on a metal table.  He grabbed the scissors and immediately aimed for my hand.  The movement seemed slow and taxing.  I could tell too much energy was devoted to the panic and anxiety of its situation, rather than making a calculated move to ensure his own freedom.  It seemed odd, but I could tell there was a difference between myself and this person.  Why was this the case?  Was it the reason why I was encased in that glass container?  Was I superhuman, and they were testing or experimenting with me?             The scientist quickly tried to stab my hand.  I quickly jerked my hand, so he stabbed his own fingers.  He stabbed so hard that he nearly cut off one of his two fingers.  It didn’t fall off, but his finger was now disfigured and looked like it could fall off pretty easily.  The scientist managed to cut into the palm of my hand.  I could feel a strong sense of pain jolt through my body, but his injury clearly hurt much worse.  He screamed even louder and was frantically trying to escape from my grip.  My palm hurt, but I was still calm and collected, while he continued to squirm in pain.             I finally let go of the person’s fingers, but I won a better prize.  The scientist completely disregarded the most valuable item in his possession.  I picked up the pair of scissors and started to cut away at the leather strap that was holding my wrist down.  The scientist ran over to a cabinet a few feet away.  It didn’t take me long to cut the leather of my wrist, and I next started cutting the leather that was around my neck.             It didn’t take long to cut the leather from my neck either.  I cut it off just in time because the scientist looked back at me and realized what I was doing.  He tried to quickly run over by a door.  I figured it was trying to call for backup or sound the alarm that I heard like when the other captured person escaped.             I took the scissors and threw them at the scientist.  The scissors struck him right in the neck.  Was that going to stop him in time?  I started quickly working on the rest of my restraints.  My other wrist was still bound and so were my ankles and waist.  But I could raise my torso and head, and I could I freely use my arm and wrist.             The scientist was moving slowly and somewhat falling to the ground.  It continued to try to reach for a red box on the wall.  Every movement was devastating to its life.  The scientist couldn’t pull out the scissors without profusely bleeding through his neck.  Leaving the scissors in the neck was also terrible because the pair of scissors further cut away at his veins and tissue in his neck.              I was close enough to another table where I grabbed a different sharp object.  It wasn’t quite as useful as the original pair of scissors, but it was sharp enough to cut away at the remaining leather straps.             Unfortunately, the scientist made it to the red box.  The same loud sounds and flashing lights ensued.  It was agonizingly louder and more annoying when I was outside of the cage.  I had only a few moments before more people would open the door near where the scientist that was now dying.             After a few moments, another scientist entered the room.  I grabbed another sharp object from the table and threw it at this new scientist.  It hit him square in the front of the neck.  This person fell to the ground relatively quickly and somewhat blocked the door.  He wasn’t dead, but he would be dead within the next few minutes.  This bought me more time to finish cutting the rest of the leather straps.             I cut the last strap as three more people arrived at the door.  I kicked the table toward the three people, which bought me a little more time to figure out what to do next.  I quickly glanced around and saw the entrance to an air vent.  It was on the ceiling, but I climbed onto a table, climbed, up a cabinet, and used a metal object to break the vent entrance.  I quickly slipped into the vent before any of the people could reach and grab me.
