Whisked Away
This way. The voice is soft and harmonious as crisp as a wind chime. Melodies emite from the willow tree. In the front of the procession come in the elders all dressed in robes made of fine twine. Multiple fairies enter orderly the youngest of the fairies come in first. All together, the fair haired fairy began the meeting. The grass blew softly as clouds began gathering. There a field of flowers is blowing with the spring breeze as if dancing to their own tune. Large water droplets began to fall from the sky. Briskly walking underneath the Willow tree Lucy decided this tree is where the voice was coming from. On the plate is eggs ,and a slice of ham. Emitting a cloud of smoke is grandpa Tom as he busies himself with the newspaper. Turning one page at a time every couple of minutes. Lucy thunders down the wooden stairs of the cottage home. "Good morning pa" says Lucy. "Good day darling, going out today?" says Tom. "Yes once I have finished breakfast I will go out here next to the woods for a bit" says Lucy happily. A cool breeze immediately hits Lucy's face as she skips down the stone steps of the cottage. Umbrella in head she hops each individual gray stone until reaching the wooden gate. The gate creaks as Lucy exits the cottage premises. There she stands in the dirt road deciding which way to go today. To the left is the lily pond full of lilies and tadpoles. To the right is the wooded area and fields of flowers. Lucy decides for the latter. With a skip she walks down the road not having to listen for cars as they rarely pass. She comes to a field of wildflowers where grandpa Tom sometimes sets a picnic on sunny days. This way. This way. Lucy hears a whisper in the wind as she reaches an old willow tree. She looks around thinking someone else must be there, but it comes from the tree itself. It now began to rain. Reaching out her arm to touch the tree, Lucy felt a tug. All of a sudden the ground seems a million mile away. The wind whistles fiercely in Lucy's ears ,and she is in a sort of twister. Heading closer to the willow tree Lucy thought I'm going to crash ,but just when she should have made contact with the tree she passes through the tree as if it were not there. Still clutching her umbrella Lucy lays in a heap wood. She is on her stomach; her eyes tracing grains of wood lined in a circular pattern. The lighting was soft yellow in this place. Lucy steadies herself as she gets on her feet. Now noticing the commotion of whispers. Human. Look. Who is she? All around her sat people ,but they look a bit different since Lucy notices their eyes were proportionately larger and their ears were… pointed. And they had wings of a translucent kind. Could it be fairies. Also, their clothes were made of shiny material unlike any cotton Lucy had seen. An older fairy stood on a podium and raises her arms. She had fair straight hair ,and a booming voice. "Where is Droplet?" She says. A younger looking fairy ran into Lucy bumping her on the shoulder. Lucy felt a gush of wind from his wings. He goes closer to the podium. He wears a brown outfit consisting of a shirt and pants and leather shoes. With brown hair he rather blended in with the floor. "Here I am," says Droplet. "You have found the maps," says the older fairy. "Oh yes they were in the library, Grand Elder, I have them right here" says Droplet presenting a piece of paper. "Very well, we need the Vera flower for our tree desperately" says the Grand Elder. "Now on to other matters, as you all fairies can see we have a human visitor today, what is your name dear?" says the Grand Elder. Lucy who is quite the whole time listening to the exchange between Droplet and the Grand Elder was suddenly caught off guard. She felt as if all eyes were on her. "Pendergrass, Lucy Pendergrass is my name" says Lucy. "Miss Pendergrass, how did you find us?" asks the Grand Elder. "Well I heard a voice that came from the tree and then I was whisk away here" says Lucy. "I see, now what to do with you..." says the Grand Elder. "If I can interrupt, maybe she could help me find Vera flowers" says Droplet. "Miss Pendergrass let me tell you about the Vera flowers for once upon a time fairies used to harvest Vera from the forest. These flowers is ground up and added to the tree to cure it of fungal infections. Without it the tree will root. Our inventory of Vera has dwindled to nonexistence. With your help we will gather Vera and bring it back to the tree." says Droplet. "Let me introduce myself, my name is Droplet" says Droplet as he extends a hand to shake. Lucy shakes Droplet's hand and says "It is nice to meet you". "So will you help me?" says Droplet. "Yes" says Lucy. "Well you two must be on the way" says the Grand Elder. Droplet motions for Lucy to follow him down a hallway to the right of the podium. Lucy briskly follows to keep up. In the hallway there were portraits of fairies with fair hair. Droplet opens a door. There was a circular staircase that seemed to lead to many rooms. It was bustling with fairies going up and down. "Now we need to gather supplies for our journey," said Droplet. Droplet starts to walk up the stairs, Lucy follows. They went two flights until reaching a green door. "I need some supplies for a journey," says Droplet. "I see, gather what you need and meet me at the register" says Dixie. "These are the supplies I will need, Dixie," says Droplet. "Alright let me write it down" says Dixie as she gets out one of her many papers and starts to scroll down notes. "If you will sign for me here," says Dixie as she rotates one of her papers, so it faces Droplet as she extends her pen. After Droplet had signed they went out of the green door into the staircase. Droplet led them all the way to ground level; it was many flights down. Lucy feels her legs sore after so many stairs. At last, they reach an open space label terminal. "This is where we will catch our ride," says Droplet. Lucy wonders what type of ride fairies ride. An attendant fairy walks their way, he had a bright orange vest and a clipboard in hand. "Wanting a ride?" he asks. "Yes, for two" says Droplet. "Fill this form" says the attendant. Droplet takes five minutes filling out the form. Meanwhile, Lucy catches a glimpse of what type of animals carry fairies. Two sparrows from above each with one fairy. Right after left a rodent with a fairy straight into the outside ground levels opening. Droplet hands the form back to the attendant. The attendant scans it then looks at Lucy in surprise as if only then acknowledging she was human. He clears his throat. In view a light brown rabbit. On its back lay two saddles. The rabbit comes right up to Droplet and Lucy.Droplet helps Lucy mount her saddle on the back as he takes the front seat folding his wings behind him. The rabbit moves through the opening in the tree taking them through sunshine. Immediately the smell of grass hit their nostrils then the scent of wildflowers. Kiwie awaits outside the willow tree for instructions on where to go. Droplet looks down at his map and steers Kiwie toward the line of trees leading into the forest to the right. "Fox!" Droplet yells. Kiwie rushes forward and to the left. The forest is a blur. Lucy turns around wishing she had not; paces away was a red brown fox striding their way. Through her saddle Lucy feels Kiwie's accelerated heartbeat. Zigzagging they go through the forest. They find a log to hide in; all three were quiet. After five minutes pass they lost the fox. Droplet decides to wait another ten minutes just to make sure. Once they get out of the log, they can hear birds chirping again all is clear. They check their gear. Then Droplets heart drops to his stomach. The map. Gone. The map was gone. "The map is gone! What will we do?" Droplet says. Lucy stays quiet thinking. She is going to suggest looking for it, but that would take forever. "I know there is a settlement of fairies nearby, maybe they have a guide who can take us to the Vera flower," said Droplet. "Great, let us go there," said Lucy. Heading this time for the other fairy settlement Droplet steers Kiwie who seems to be a bit shook up. Droplet pets her head for comfort. They reach a creak of flowing water. Leading Kiwie through the water was not difficult, she is a good swimmer. Lucy felt the icy cold water up to her chest, it feels strangely nice. Once out of the water, they go a few hops into a meadow and they reach the sister settlement. Droplet leads them to a great big ancient oak tree. There is a nook in the tree where Lucy and Droplet could pass through as a door. Soon they were greeted by a fairy. "Hello, travelers, what brings you to Concordia? " says the fairy. "Hello, we were hoping to get a guide for our travel needs; we are from Willowian," says Droplet. "Well do come in brother and sister" says the fiary Droplet and Lucy dismount, glad to finally stretch. Leaving Kiwie to rest in the meadow they enter the nook in the tree. Inside was a bustle of fairies going about their business. There was a cafe shop with tables set up in a corner. The fairy takes them to the cafe shop. He sat them down at a table for four. "I'll look for someone who might be able to help you," he says. Back comes the fairy and behind him was a young fairy boy with black hair and bright blue eyes that matched his outfit. "This is Rainix the guide" says the first fairy. "Hello, Rainix at your service, of course if it is someplace I know how to go" says Rainix with a wave of his hand his wings fluttered slightly. "Hello, I am Droplet of Willowian, I was hoping you could take us two to find Vera flowers. You see we need some for our willow tree." says Droplet. "Vera flower… yes well I know a place where to find it but it is across the Darken forest. A dangerous place, seeing as you need it I will take you" says Rainix "Thank you" says Droplet "Should we camp here tonight and head in the morning?" asks Droplet. They climb a flight of stairs up the tree. There was a large open space with hammocks pin to the tree wall. The hammocks stock pillows and blankets. Already fairies get ready for sleep. They choose their hammocks, three near each other on the east end. Lucy closes her eyes. Behind her eyelids the world melts until it goes blank. From the blankness a scene unfolds. Fog and water droplets suspended in midair. There is only the soft sound of hooves hitting the ground. Lucy looks out and finds the willow tree next to it is a white pearl like figure with a translucent horn on its head- a unicorn. Lucy walks slowly, as to not scare him or her. Finally reaching its mane, it is strong and soft. "Lucy wake up…" The unicorn disappears as the water droplets start to fall. Opening her eyes Lucy wakes up in her hammock. Droplet is looking down at her.
