The Hidden Luna
The storm began long before midnight. Black clouds rolled across the sky like an omen, swallowing the stars above the Crescent Moon Pack territory. Lightning split the heavens, illuminating the towering stone walls of the Alpha Estate that stood high above the forest. Inside the estate, screams echoed through the private birthing chamber. On silk sheets soaked with blood and sweat lay Seraphina, the Supreme Luna of the pack. Her silver hair clung to her damp face. Her chest rose and fell in ragged breaths as another violent contraction tore through her body. Beside her stood the pack healer, trembling. “It’s time, my Luna.” Seraphina gripped the sheets tightly. Outside the chamber doors, thunder shook the walls. Something in the air felt wrong. Very wrong. She could feel it. The Moon Goddess had been warning her for weeks. Tonight… destiny would change forever. One final cry ripped from her throat. Then— A baby emerged. The healer quickly wrapped the child in soft white cloth. But silence followed. No cry. No movement. The healer’s face fell. Seraphina turned weakly, tears instantly filling her eyes. “My baby…” The healer lowered her head. “The first twin did not survive.” A sharp pain struck Seraphina’s chest, but before grief could settle— Another contraction came harder than before. “Push!” the healer shouted. Seraphina screamed. Seconds later— Another child entered the world. The healer gasped. This child was alive. A baby girl. Healthy. Strangely beautiful. And unlike any child the healer had ever seen… Soft strands of shimmering golden hair already covered her tiny head. The infant let out a strong cry. The room suddenly filled with warmth. Outside… The storm stopped. The full moon broke through the clouds. Seraphina stared at her daughter with trembling lips. “She’s here…” Then suddenly— The chamber doors exploded open. The warmth vanished instantly. Heavy boots struck the marble floor. A dark shadow entered. Towering. Cold. Powerful. Nathaniel. The Alpha King. Seraphina’s mate. And the man she suddenly feared more than death itself. His eyes locked onto the newborn. No warmth. No love. Only hatred. Seraphina’s heart stopped. “No…” Nathaniel slowly pulled a silver ceremonial dagger from his belt. “You knew the prophecy,” he said quietly. Seraphina’s breathing became frantic. “Nathaniel… please…” His expression never changed. “That child cannot live.” Tears streamed down Seraphina’s cheeks. “She is your daughter.” “She is a threat.” The pack healer stepped backward in terror. Standing frozen near the nursery table was the royal nurse, Miriam. Her eyes widened. She understood instantly. Nathaniel intended to kill both mother and child. Seraphina looked toward Miriam. For one brief second… No words were spoken. But the message was clear. Save my daughter. Nathaniel stepped closer to the bed. Seraphina tried to move, but childbirth had drained all her strength. “You would kill your own blood?” she whispered. Nathaniel’s jaw tightened. “I will never allow anyone stronger than me to take what is mine.” The silver blade flashed. Seraphina gasped sharply. Blood spread across the sheets. Her body went still. At the same moment— Miriam grabbed the newborn. And ran. “STOP HER!” Nathaniel roared. But she was already gone. Rain poured heavily outside as Miriam raced toward the lower pack hospital hidden near the estate grounds. Her heart hammered violently. She had minutes. Maybe less. Inside the hospital, chaos was unfolding in another delivery room. A young woman had just lost her child. The mother cried uncontrollably while doctors worked frantically. The woman’s name was Angelica. Her husband stood beside her, trying desperately to stay strong. Gabriel, commander of the Alpha Guard. One of the most respected warriors in the pack. Their child had been stillborn. Miriam froze. The gods had given her one impossible chance. She moved quickly. She gently placed Seraphina’s living child beside Angelica. Then carefully removed the lifeless infant. Angelica, weak from labor, looked down through blurred tears. A cry filled the room. Her eyes widened. “My baby…” Gabriel stared in stunned silence. Moments ago… Their daughter had been gone. Now she was alive. Healthy. Beautiful. Golden hair glowing beneath the hospital lights. Gabriel looked toward Miriam. And in that instant— He understood. Miriam’s voice trembled. “You saw nothing tonight.” Gabriel studied the child. Then looked toward his wife. Angelica had already wrapped the infant protectively against her chest. As if she had always belonged there. Gabriel nodded once. “I understand.” Miriam exhaled shakily. “Protect her with your lives.” Gabriel’s expression hardened. “I swear it.” The nurse turned and disappeared into the storm. And somewhere above the pack... The moon turned red. As if marking the birth of a queen.
