As they attempted to frantically escape, the sounds of the three people’s splashing and panting mixed with the mice’s hissing and scurrying, made the whole underground waterway tremble.
Jason and Zoe had never run so fast in their entire lives. They didn't care about the dirty water splashing all over their bodies or even their faces. The little strength they had left was being used up by their non-stop running.
Their lungs were burning and their strength was about to expire, but the thought of the extremely terrifying, disgusting mice getting closer and closer to them made them clench their teeth and pick up their pace again.
