Charles and I were both silent while riding in his car back to his house. I could see his teeth gritting and his tight grip on the steering wheel but I still didn't say a word. I rejected his marriage proposal so I understand how he feels right now. But I didn't reject him because I didn't want to marry him or because I didn't love him. The truth is that I felt so much joy when he proposed to me. But I don't understand why I also felt fear and doubt. It's the reason why I didn't accept his marriage proposal.
There is no doubt that I love Charles and I want him to be my husband. But I had to find the answer to the fear and doubt I felt. I need to know where this feeling is coming from before I agree with his proposal.
