Guardians of the forest

She was very old the day that she died, her granddaughter was very young. The night before she was going to turn 96, her granddaughter was at the age of 22 and was looking at a life as a wife and a mother with a 2 year old boy not knowing she had a second child on the way. She looked at her beautiful grand daughter full of life her hair the color of pine, deep in the forest, eyes the color of dark spruce, a beautiful color and told her, " my dear Katerina, bring me the wolf looking glass on the table in the library" as the young woman did the old woman said, she took out some paper and wrote a short letter and sealed it put it on her lap as her beautiful grand daughter walked in with the looking glass. " my dear' one day you will have a child and on the same day that your babe is born there will be a giant wolf pup born as well. This wolf will be your babe's guardian for it has a dangerous future ahead. Around their 18th birthday the wolf will show its self and bow to your babe and their journey will begin" as the old and frail woman wrapped up the looking glass she gave the letter to her young grand daughter. " this letter will explain everything to them, my dear you are the mother of the next guardian of the forest." and with her dying breath she wispered her good bye. 10 Years Later MAX I wasn't snooping, I was just board. "Max! What are you doing in here this is momma's room" she said with her deep green eyes staring strait at me with defiance and a look daring me to touch something I'm not supposed to. Meleine walked right in making sure that if I touched anything she would be the first to tell. "Nothing I'm just board go away it is none of your business anyway." i told her as i faked walking out, as i knew she would she raced after me. her many brown waves the color of tree bark bounced as she ran to catch up. Mother says she is beautiful but i thought she was just as plain as me, other than her green eyes the color of the leaves of the trees mine were brown dirtier than the mud under the house with hair to match. "come play with me i found something cool in the woods!" "of course you did... i will be there in a second i want to change." i said hoping to get rid of her she was just a nuisance. “Fine just yell at the edge of the forest and i will come get you." "okay" as she ran down the stairs i turned back to mothers room now i wanted to snoop. As I'm digging through moms chest i see an old looking envelope i picked it up and there was a wax seal on it, i carefully opened it so i could easily fix once i looked what was inside. as i read the letter i found inside i could not help the smile on my face. the letter had to be about me i had a wolf out there somewhere and he or she would show their face in about six years. i couldn't wait so i quickly fixed the letter but everything back the way it was and left my mothers bedroom and out to the woods i went hopefully to catch a glimpse of my wolf hiding in plain sight. MELENIE oh how I loved to walk around in the forest when ever my mother could not find me I was normally in the woods doing "something stupid " at least by her book she hated when i was out here i was always exploring or shooting my bow i was getting pretty good and my mother thought it was a waste of time to be way out here but I felt free in the forest. Only today the forest seemed awfully quiet and I hated when I couldn't hear the normal chitter chatter of the birds and the animals and the sound of the wind in the trees, today the wind sounded like a warning to run but from what I had no idea what was in store for me. I was walking along the river when I heard a a growl I turned and a huge brown bear stood on both legs looking down on me with a sneer. It was the biggest bear I have seen this close to the village. Just then I heard another growl from behind me, great I thought i just walked right into a bear fight. I turned slowly and what I see is not a bear but a legendary giant wolf crouching right in front of me like it was going to pounce, only it wasn't looking at me it was looking behind me at the bear. The giant wolf jumped and my vision blurred as the huge wolf lept onto the bear, after a few seconds the wolf won but it didn't kill the bear instead it let it run off then turned towards me. I froze with fear I knew it would not hurt me some how but I was terrified to move an inch. The wolf stalked towards me, I was thinking how beautiful and huge this wolf was big and brown perfectly camiflashed but my thoughts ended when it stopped right in front of me stood strait and then bowed its head. Its ear flicked it looked up at me then stood and ran off. A moment later I heard my little sister calling. "Melenie, where are you?" she called and called my name. "I am over here Avry." I called out. " mother is looking for you, you skipped your chores again today, mother is furious." she yelled back to me. everyone always said she was a spitting image of me but with blue eyes the color of the sky early in the morning. "shoot" I mumbled to my self and ran as fast as I could home. "And where have you been young lady?" my mother said to me as I was walking into the house. "oh mother I was just walking but mother I do need to talk to you before supper." I despreatly wanted to tell her about the wolf and the bear but I was not sure how. "After your chores young lady you skipped them again today." she sounded as irritated as I felt. " mother it is very important it needs to be said." I was going to tell her wheather or not she wanted to hear it. " dear are you alright you look like you have seen a ghost." concern was very noticable in her voice. She pulled a chair for me to sit sat me down and grabbed another for her, " now tell me whats the matter" as I told her about the bear she paled but when I mentioned the wolf color had returned to her face I didn't know how to make since of it. " wait here I have something for you." she disapeared and a moment later she came back with something wrapped in cloth, she handed it to me and dissapared again and came back with an evelope. "Which would you like to open first?" "I don't understand." I said in a small voice. "alright here you can open this first" she handed me the cloth wrap. It was tanish and looked very old at least the look of it, I turned it over and over again in my hands I looked at my mother and she has a small smile. I slowly opened the cloth and inside was a looking glass with a wolf face in the middle it was beautiful it was the perfect size to fit right into my hand. " its beautiful whats in the envelope?" I asked. " I think its a letter but I'm not sure its from my grandmama and they are both very old, here. She said it was for your eyes only." I opened the envelope and sure enough it was a letter. To my dear great grand child, You are the new guardian of the forest if you are reading this you are just about to turn eighteen or you are a little older either way you must have just seen your wolf guardian and from what I remember from when I first meet my guardian I was terrified but I knew that she would not harm me, and I trust that you felt the same. After you have read this you have come of age and you can look through the looking glass and find your wolf anywhere and he or she will be waiting for you. Once you bond with your guardian you will understand their thoughts it is a trumendous honor to be a guardian. Now go my dear and bond with your guardian for your life will be in danger for if anyone to find out so bond quickly. I picked up the looking glass, brought it to my eyes I looked around, everything was green except a big red spot about a mile and a half from here. I looked up at my mother she was smiling. "Go my dear I will pack you some supper, my grand mother told me very little I do know that you need to leave and you will be back soon so I guess I will make you some supper for on the way.”
