“Elijah, what happened to our baby? Did our baby survive?”
In the VIP room of a hospital, Scarlett shivered vigorously.
“I'm afraid I might lose the baby, Elijah. I didn't think Charlotte would do this to our child. She tries to murder our innocent baby.”
When Scarlett mentions this, Elijah can't help but grit his teeth and clench his fists as hatred brews inside of him.
”It's all my fault for falling in love with you, a married man. I can't blame her for trying to kill my baby; it's all my fault. On the other hand, I hope you can talk to Charie so that she won't hurt our baby."
Scarlett let out a few tears, which caused Elijah’s brows to twitch in anger.
Even if he had cheated on her and gotten Scarlett pregnant, it wasn't right that she tried to kill his precious baby!
They were married for two years, and she couldn't get him a child, not like he played his part.
So, why won't she just be happy for him and divorce him quietly so that he can be happy with Scarlett? After all, she was the one that he truly loved.
Seeing the concocted expression on Elijah’s face, she realized that she still had a strong hold on him, and with a few more button pushes, everything would fall into place.
Elijah loved Scarlett. In this chase for love, Charlotte was the loser. She was destined to suffer a crushing defeat.
All this while, he had never been concerned about her. He even despised her. However, she had never seen so much hate for her in his eyes.
”If our baby doesn't survive, I don't think I can live a good life in the future. Elijah, please save our baby; I'm so terrified!”
Elijah’s handsome face was covered with a layer of frost. However, there was an ominous glint in his eyes that Scarlett could not understand.
“Charlotte Strauss, if anything happens to the child in Scarlett’s stomach, I will lose dignity and make sure to punish you severely.”
He gritted his teeth bitterly as the anger in his eyes sprawled like wildfire.
Seeing this, Scarlett’s joy knew no bounds; she was so thrilled, but dhd dofbg dare to shoe her happiness in front of Elijah.
After Scarlett was done feeling pleased with herself, she pulled Elijah towards herself aggrievedly. "Elijah, it's fine. Charlotte and I are sisters after all. I don't need her to get punished because of me. It's my fault. After all, you guys are married. I shouldn't have any contact with you, but I can't help myself.”
The seething anger in Elijah’s heart rose to the brim upon hearing this.
On one hand, there is Scarlett, who is so mature and considerate enough to give up on her love to make her sister happy.
On the contrary, there is Charlotte, who is vicious enough to attempt killing her sister’s own child.
Even if Scarlett begs him not to, he will definitely make her repent for her actions.
Suddenly Scarlett added, "IIf Charlotte and her mother hadn't forced me to go away from you by k********g and holding my mother hostage, we would have been the ones who got married!” She blatantly accused Charlotte.
When Elijah heard this, he was so angry that his eyes turned white.
“What? This really happened? Why didn't you tell me immediately, Scarlett?” Elijah was so furious, his palms bled from his fingers digging into them.
“What could I have done? I was afraid my mom would get hurt; I had to quietly leave as they wanted. Because of this, my mom was safe, and Charlotte married you in my place. However, she spread rumors that I left because you became a vegetable!”
Scarlett’s lashes were moist with her tears, and with her doe eyes, she looked like she was viciously aggrieved by Charlotte.
Back then, when Scarlett didn't show up to their wedding, everyone thought she ran away because he became a vegetable after he got into a bad accident, but no one knew the truth.
Charlotte was the one who stayed with him and took care of him until he got back to good health; she even married him during his hard time.
Everyone thought she was an angel; her facade even deceived Grandma Foster, who forced Elijah to marry her.
Hearing this truth from Scarlett caused a lump to grow in his chest.
“Charlotte Strauss, how did I underestimate your maliciousness? You deceived me? I won't go easy on you!” Elijah’s eyes were bloodshot red, causing him to look unapproachable.
Elijah thought Scarlett had gone through so much trouble because of Charlotte; he pulled her closer and kissed her head.
At this time, Elijah’s mother, Maya Foster, raced into the room in their direction and snapped, "If anything happens to my grandchild, Elijah, I will never forgive Charlotte. That woman has always had a hidden agenda; who knew that she would try to kill our precious grandchild? You two were married for three years, and she couldn't give us a grandchild, and now she wants to take this happiness away from us!”
The servant had informed the old Foster couple, so they came running.
Maya Foster had always considered Charlotte an outsider and hated her; she always favored Scarlett, but she didn't dare show off her bias because of Charlotte’s favors and old grandma Foster’s affections for her.
Since old grandma Foster died three months ago, there was no one to take sides with Charlotte anymore, so she could finally voice her grievances.
“Elijah, don't blame yourself for that vicious woman’s doings; once my grandchild is safe, I'll make sure to give her a piece of my mind." Maya patted Elijah’s shoulders and comforted him.
Elijah knew it was his fault, but he couldn't accept it, no matter what.
Four months ago, he woke next to a naked woman after a drunk night.
That woman turned out to be Scarlett, his lover, who had suddenly disappeared.
Despite the fact the fact that she left him, Elijah couldn't bring himself to hate her, and when she cajoled him with her words, he found himself falling right into her arms.
She was beautiful; with her big, bright eyes and her slender, smoking-hot body, she was perfect.
He knew it was wrong to keep a secret affair with Scarlett while being married, but he didn't care.
Every time they made love, he realized that Scarlett was truly his soulmate.
To Elijah, Charlotte’s feelings didn't matter; all he wanted was for Scarlett and their baby to be safe and healthy. He would deal with Charlotte later.
“Elijah, shouldn't we take Scarlett to a better hospital? There are not enough qualified doctors to look after Scarlett and my grandchild here." Maya uttered, looking at Scarlett’s conditions.
Elijah panicked, so he could only be Scarlett to the nearest hospital, which was a general hospital.
Then she suddenly remembers, "WWhy don't we ask Tiffany for help? She's the best, there is!”
Elijah nodded as Tiffany's name came up. His cousin, Tiffany Foster, was the best new gynaecologist in town. She was so good that the Aurious Medical Center had taken her on since her residency.
Moments later, Elijah stepped out of Scarlett’s room. He was about to call Tiffany when he raised his eyes and saw a familiar figure standing in front of him.
His brows knitted together, and he could not help but be angered.
“What are you doing here, Charlotte Strauss?”
