Miscarriage

”My baby… What happened to my baby?!” Charlotte was startled when she woke up. She touched her flat belly and asked, feeling terrified beyond belief. At this point, she didn't care about anything; all she wanted to know was how her baby was doing. Her mind was completely blank. ”Charlie, Charlie…” After a while, Charlotte heard someone calling out her name. She came back to her senses and saw a familiar figure. She was shocked when she saw the man calling out her name. At first, she couldn't bring herself to guess how he got here. She looked around her and realised she was in a refined hospital bed. Sitting right next to her hospital bed was Jeremy Connor, the CEO of Connor Globals, the biggest company in Glindale City with a lot of subsidiaries. The Connor family is the wealthiest in the city. Even though it's been a while since she last saw him, and he might have even grown physically mature, Charlotte would always recognize him. He was a man from her past who had a close relationship with her and her husband. However, things turned ugly along the lines, and they stopped seeing eye to eye. He was a very attractive man, with perfect features and a really strong aura. His dark brown eyes seemed like drops of ink in the snow. They were absolutely stunning, but extremely cold. A few hours ago, she was going to share the news of her pregnancy with her husband, only to be met with his destructive news. Slapped with a divorce, she reluctantly signed and was framed by Scarlett. Left to die alone by Elijah, Charlotte was overwhelmed. Without looking in the mirror, she knew she looked horrible. In the past, she was the No. 1 socialite in Glindale and had so many suitors gunning for her, but she chose Elijah over everyone else. After giving three years of her life to him, she found herself in a strange hospital room with a man from her past looking over her. “My baby. What happened to my baby?” She jerked out of her trance, asking. “You…the baby is." Jeremy couldn't bring himself to say the word. Charlotte looked at the man in front of her with thin eyes. Seeing his hesitation, she faintly asked, “Jeremy, what happened to my baby? Please tell me?!” Jeremy was afraid she wouldn't be able to take it, but he finally said it. “I'm sorry, Charlotte, you lost the baby.” His tone was calm and filled with sadness. It appears as though Charlotte had gone into a trance; she wouldn't speak or express any emotions for two minutes. Then, tears stream down her face as she recalls Jeremy’s words,I'm sorry, Charlotte, you lost the baby. Suddenly, she broke down, crying, "Boho boho! No! No, this is not happening to me!” “I'm sorry, Charlie." Seeing her tears, Jeremy couldn't hold back. “No! No! This can't be happening!” The color on her face drained immediately. Seeing her colorless face, Jeremy felt a pang in his chest. "No! It can't be!" She screamed. "I wanted this baby so bad—for so many years!" "I don't care about anything else; I just want my child! Jeremy, please tell me it's not true," Charlotte exclaimed. She was finally pregnant after a long time. However, she miscarried the child. Why was the world so cruel to her? ”That can't be true! It cannot be!” Her nose arched, and she hurled her pillow out of rage. Charlotte didn't mind that she was unintentionally aiming at Jeremy Knox. She was only concerned with her grief at this moment. “Calm down, Charlie; it's alright,” Jeremy advised. “No! I can't.” Charlotte’s tears blurred her vision. She shouted, "I can't calm down! I can't.” Charlotte was so overwhelmed by grief that she didn't care about anything else. The next thing she knew, Jerrmy’s arms were securely wrapped around her. He said, “Calm down! Calm down!” "I despise him! I despise him. This is all his fault! He killed my baby," Charlotte exclaimed. She cried even harder, so much so that her tears ruined Jeremy's fine suit. In an unexpected moment, Charlotte was in tears as she explained, "I was going to build a healthy family for my baby. I was going to love him with everything I had." Her body shook with each angry syllable that came out of her mouth, and her cries were filled with real anguish. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were puffy from the flood of tears. As Charlotte started to pour her heart out, she felt Jeremy’s hug tighten around her waist and back. Despite not knowing his reason for being there and offering her assistance, she did not object. Charlotte was willing to accept any kind of consolation at the time. She also tightened her grip on Jeremy. She cried until her eyes ran dry. She didn't know how long she was in his arms before falling silent. Her grip on Jeremy lessened, and he moved away. Her arms softly dropped on her lap, and her eyes were distant. Charlotte was silent for some minutes, simply thinking about her pregnancy. She and the man in front of her both remained silent. Charlotte laughed at herself. "It's all because I like him." Jeremy was stunned once again. He looked at her, and he felt a lump form in his heart. "You can have another child in the future.Your health is more important." Charlotte laughed at herself. "There won't be any." Jeremy looked at her in confusion. As he was about to say something, Charlotte wiped her face carelessly with the back of her hand and asked, "Did they try everything to save my baby?" "Of course," he responded confidently. "But," Jeremy gulped and spoke softly, "I should let the doctor explain this to you." He pushed himself out of bed and into his wheelchair using his strong arms. Charlotte finally responded, frowning, after a brief pause. She wondered, 'Wait, what? Is Jeremy Connor still in a wheelchair?’ Charlotte remembers Jeremy being in a car accident many years ago, which left him unable to walk without help. She had not expected Jeremy to be in a wheelchair until today. It had indeed been a long time. Ever since Charlotte and Elijah got married, Charlotte did not see him anymore. "I'll get the doctor," Jeremy responded, wheeling his wheelchair out the door. "Dr. Foster? Tiffany? She's awake! Please come here immediately! Speak to her. I can't." 'Tiffany?' Charlotte balked at the name. 'Tiffany Foster?' She didn't need to see another Foster right now, but could Tiffany be any different from the rest of the Fosters? Tiffany is a Foster, but she is also Elijah's cousin, an obstetrician-gynecologist. Tiffany entered the hospital room briefly. Guilt was mirrored on her face as she walked slowly toward Charlotte. Tiffany hugged Charlotte hard before she could say anything, grieving for her. "I am sorry about the baby, Charlotte. I'm sorry for my foolish cousin! I won't ever forgive him for hurting you like this.” Unable to hold back her emotions, she couldn't help but cry upon seeing Tiffany’s tears. …. Tiffany took a look at Charlotte’s condition. “You were under a lot of mental and emotional stress, which added to the fall and caused you to miscarry the baby. Your condition is quite bad, so I'll keep you under observation for some time.” Tiffany took Charlotte’s hands and warmly said, "I'm really sorry to hear about what you've been through. It's completely normal to feel a range of emotions during this time. Remember, it's okay to grieve and take all the time you need to heal. In the future, you'll be able to have another healthy baby with a man who is deserving of your love, Charlie.” “Thank you, Tiff,” Charlotte said with a sad expression. After a while, both Tiffany and Jeremy left the toon to have a private conversation. Just then, Charlotte couldn't hold back the repulse she felt towards Elijah; she hopped down from the bed and put on her shoes. She could not believe that the man she had loved for three years would do something like that! Charlotte's heart sank. Despite the nurse's advice, she pulled the infusion needle from the back of her hand and stumbled out of the ward. Charlotte walked through the corridor helplessly. She accidentally ran into a man and fell down. “Elijah Foster, it's your fault; I'll make you repent for this!”
