CHAPTER 10

WE NEED TO TALK

The next morning Liam wakes up with Layla in his arms still in shock 

of the events of last night looking at the mark he left on her neck.

                                                                                            Liam’s POV

                                How am I supposed to tell Layla I lost control and took her choice away?

                                            I need to tell her everything but first I need to make

                                                     sure, she’s fed and ok to hear it first.

                                                                                        End POV

Alpha Liam: Good morning beautiful.

                                            Liam looks at Layla as he runs his finger down her shoulder to 

                                                    her elbow. Sending tingles down her arm and back up again.

Layla: Mmmm good morning. (opens eyes to look at Liam)

Alpha Liam: Can I get you anything are you hungry thirsty hungover or all of the above?

Layla: (Smiling) Bacon eggs toast and coffee not hungover which is odd are you?

Alpha Liam: No neither am I.

                                                                                        Layla’s POV

                                                                          Why does he look so nervous?

                                                                        Am I making him uncomfortable? 

                                                                                Does he want me to leave?

                                                                                                End POV

Layla: Is everything ok?

Alpha Liam: (Furrowed brows) Yes? Why? Are you ok? How do you feel?

Layla: I just have to tell you something about my family and I but first let’s eat then we talk.

Layla: Ok but only cause I’m hungry.

Alpha Liam: All right I’ll be back with some breakfast in bed.

Shortly after they ate Liam gets ready

Layla: Not going to lie I was expecting eggshells and burnt toast.

Alpha Liam: (Laughing) But I’m a great cook and at least you doubt my skills with the bacon.

Layla: (Laughing) It's bacon everyone knows how to cook bacon you have to be a simpleton to mess up bacon.

Alpha Liam: (Laughing) Touché let’s go for a walk I want to show you something.

Layla: Uhm all I have is the dress I was wearing last night.

Alpha Liam: Don't worry I have sweats and a t-shirt you can wear.

                                                Layla puts the sweatpants and t-shirt that Liam gets for her 

                                                                 It fits her loosely, but it fits none the less.

Layla: Thanks 

                                            Liam just wears his shorts with no shirt and head deep into the woods near a lake. They arrive at a lake surrounded

                                                                             by trees with a waterfall.

Alpha Liam: I have to tell you something serious about my family and me.

Layla: Ok but why bring me here to tell me not that I’m complaining it's beautiful here buy why couldn't you tell me back at your house?

Alpha Liam: (lets out a heavy sigh) Well not only do I have something to tell you I have to show you as well, but before I do, I need you to keep an open mind and not freak out ok.

Layla: (laughing) Seriously you don't scare me.

Alpha Liam: Good, ok well the thing is my family and I are different from everyone else …

                                                                        Layla cuts Liam off Laughing 

Layla: (Laughing) I’m sorry I don’t mean to laugh it’s just everyone’s family is different unless you mean you're a bunch of Psycho Serial Killers different? 

Alpha Liam: (Laughing) Not exactly Psycho Serial Killers but yes somewhat in that area of different.

Layla: Uhm Okay.

                                                    Liam hesitates but he knows he has to tell Layla 

                                        he has no choice since he lost control and his wolf marked Layla.

Alpha Liam: Well as I was saying we are different. My family and I are a pack…

                                                                                        Layla interrupts

Layla: You mean like a Pack?

Alpha Liam: No, I mean we are a pack. Do you believe in supernatural creatures?

Layla: Yes and no. Like if you ask me if I believe in ghosts and stuff like that maybe but the way you say pack, I’m assuming you mean like wolves, but you look pretty human to me.

Alpha Liam: My people and I are what are Wolves also known as shifters or werewolves.

Layla: Yeah sure

                            As Layla says this Liam’s bones starts to crack and he begins to shift 

                                into his wolf form shredding his shorts. Layla just looks at him 

                                dumbfounded in awe as she walks up fearlessly to Liam’s large 

                                    black wolf form with red eyes petting him from head to tail.  

                                    Liam’s wolf licks Layla’s hand in appreciation for her acceptance

                                                                 and he shifts back to his human form.

Layla: Oh my God this is amazingly crazy. I would’ve never thought this was possible.  I have so many questions. You know your naked right?

Alpha Liam: (Laughing) Yeah, I have an extra pair of shorts over here.

                                                    Liam goes behind a tree to grab a pair of spare shorts 

                                                            that was in a bag for an occasion like this.

Layla: (laughing) So you keep all your spare clothes behind trees?

Alpha Liam: No just for when we shift and ruin our clothes, we normally take our clothes off before shifting, But on a serious note I know you have lots of questions but you need to know that there’s more I need to tell you first whatever questions you have can wait till after I say what needs to be said.

Layla: (furrows brows) Uhm ok

Alpha Liam: do you remember when I said you were my mate a few days ago?

Layla: Yes, you were talking about it last night at the banquet too.

Alpha Liam: Well when I said you were my Mate my soulmate my other half chosen by the Moon goddess Selene.

Layla:  Uhm I don't understand I mean I hear you but what does that even mean?

Alpha Liam: Well when a wolf is born our Moon Goddess chooses a mate for us. When and if we find our Mate, we mate for life. Once were bonded with our mate were connected so if one dies the other follows soon after. And that's only if our mate accepts us. You and I are mates that's why we both feel a strong pull towards each other and it's only going to get stronger the longer we resist unless one rejects the other. The only way to complete the mating bond is to mark each other after mating but you can’t because you are human.

I haven’t heard of a wolf mating with a non-supernatural being before.

Layla: Uhm what if I don't accept?

Alpha Liam: Then you’ll never see me again, but you’ll have to formally reject me and I have to reject you as well.

Layla: Let’s say I do accept, what is this of a mark or how do we mark each other?

Alpha Liam: If you do accept me as your mate, we both have to mark each other while making love hence the mate part of the bond.

                                                        As Liam is explaining this, he touches his

                                                                             mark on Layla’s neck.

Layla: Wait that's right you bit me last night did you mark me is that how you…

Alpha Liam: (Looks down ashamed) Yes, I lost control of my wolf when we marked you, he just wanted to claim you as his mate. I didn't want your choice taken away.

Layla: (Growls) You didn’t because I didn't mark you back and I can reject you right?

                                                                                            Liam’s POV

                                                                                Did she just growl at me?

                                            And how did she know the bite was how we mark our mate?

Alpha Liam: Yes, but…

Layla: But what?

Alpha Liam: How did you know the bite was how we mark our mate?

Layla: I don't know maybe because I dreamt it happening before it happened your eyes turned red like your wolf's eyes and all. Now, What do you mean by but?

                                                                    She dreamt this before it happened

                            I don't think she’s a human she might be a witch but she’s strong and dominate

                                            So that's not right. I need to talk to the elders to find out.

                                                                                            End POV

Alpha Liam: I don't know I have to ask my elders because this has never happened before.

                                                                                          Layla’s POV

                                                He says this never happened before so why did he bite me? 

                                He took my choice away and he doesn't know what’s going to happen.

                                    And I’m supposed to just accept it while he goes to talk to his elders.

Layla: YOU DON'T KNOW! YOU DON'T KNOW!!

                                                I get so angry it takes everything in me not to smash his face

                                                 to a pulp I ball my hands into fists feeling my nails digging into

                                                                     my palms causing me to bleed but I don't care.

Layla: I have two kids that need me. You f*****g marked me, and you don't know what’s going to happen!

Alpha Liam: I’m sorry I lost control I didn't mean to…

                                                   I’m so pissed my blood boils and before Liam can finish his lame excuse of an apology I spin kick him in the chest sending him flying fifteen feet into a tree. I don't care if he’s hurt all I can think about is my kids and how is it going to affect them.

                            I walk back to Liam’s house grabbing my purse and catching a cab back home.

                                                                                                   End POV

                                                                                                   Liam’s POV 

                                                                   What the f**k? There’s no way she’s human. 

                                                She’s definitely a powerful woman I’ve never met anyone like her.  

                                            I should go after her, but I think that I’ll be pushing my luck if I did that. 

                                                                                                        End POV  

                                                     Liam arrives to the packhouse to call for an emergency meeting 

                                                       with the pack elders to find out about any human being mates 

                                                            with a wolf or any human with supernatural strength.

Alpha Liam: So, has there ever been a human and a wolf mated before?

Pack Elder: No not unless the human has to be turned. But there’s no record of it.

Alpha Liam: What about a human with supernatural strength?

Pack Elder: There is an ancient tale but it’s a myth it’s not possible.

Alpha Liam: What myth?

                                                                            Layla arrives home 

                                                                                    Layla’s POV 

                        I can’t believe I’m marked what does this even mean for me how will this affect the kids Ugg 

                             I want to hate him so bad, but I can’t stop replaying last night over and over in my head 

                                Every kiss every touch. What am I thinking God what the hell is wrong with me?

                                                        I let down my hair to cover the bite on my neck.

                                                                                                End POV 

Lena: Hey mom how was your night? 

Layla: It was okay till this morning.

                                                    Lena smells a metallic scent and looks down at her mother’s hands

Lena: Mom why do you have blood on your hands? 

Layla: (Thinking) s**t I forgot about my hands

Layla: Oh, it's nothing it's just…

                                                        Layla runs her hands under the warm water in the kitchen 

                                                            sink washing the dried blood only to find that she has no 

                                                                        scars no marks not even broken skin.

Layla: Uhm (confused) See it's nothing.

Lena: So, who’s blood was on your hands and don't tell me it wasn't blood I know that smell was undeniably blood.

Layla: It was mine, but it was just a little Knick and I guess I’m just a heavy bleeder.

Lena: Yeah sure.

Layla: (Thinking) what the f**k? Did my hands just heal by itself? That's crazy.

                    But now that I think about it, I’ve never been sick except for when I was pregnant. 

            Come to think of it neither has the kids but they've gotten hurt and healed fast but ever this fast. 

                        Myself, on the other hand, I’ve never been hurt or even scraped a knee, or have I? 

                                                            Think It's time to see my parents.

Lena: Mom are you ok?

Layla: Yeah why?

Lena: You seem lost in thought.

Layla: I was just thinking how about we go see grandma and grandpa today what do you say?

Lena: Umm ok but why?

Layla: Well it's been a while and its grandma and grandpa so do we really need a reason do you want to wait till they’re dead to see them?

Lena: Ok Okay geez

Layla: Good go pack for the week and let your brother know I want to be on the road in an hour.

                                                        Layla gets changed and packs for the week in one

                                                             bag then waits for Lena and CJ downstairs.

Layla: ready to go?

Lena: Yeah

CJ: Yeah

                                                        They all hop in the car and Layla drives three hours

                                                                     to Ithaca New York to see her parents
