THE MYTH AND THE BOOK

Liam’s POV

Pack Elder: There is an ancient tale. But it’s a myth, it’s not possible.

Alpha Liam: What myth?

Pack Elder: Well it’s been said that Selene the Moon Goddess Once Walked the earth with her Mate before he died. And she went to the Moon, it’s said that they had two children. Her first Born was a wolf-like his father her second a human.

Alpha Liam: OK, So Selene had two children one wolf and one human what does that have to do with Layla?

Pack Elder: Well the human child Selene had was not only human.

Well not entirely if Selene’s child was to find her mate all of her powers will come to manifest 

But if she were to stay with a human, they pass the gene down till one of her own children so on so forth till they find their own true mate.

Alpha Liam: So, do you think that Layla can be Selene’s descendant?

Pack Elder: Well possibly I don't know what do you know of this Layla or about family?

Alpha Liam: Nothing really except she’s really strong woman with two kids and she kicked Alpha Marcus’s ass twice. She’s a natural Alpha female and her late husband was the other man Sofia was cheating on me with and in the car with the night of the accident.

Pack Elder: Wow fate has a great way of bringing you two together from what you tell me it’s possible she can be Selene’s descendant. 

Alpha Liam: How can we make sure because I kind marked her without her consent and she’s not like us she’s human.  What does that mean for her and what will happen because she already sent me flying fifteen feet into a tree with one kick for not having answers.

Pack Elder: If she is just human, she might turn if the change doesn't kill her first, but if she is Selene’s descendant, she’ll have to mark you back to complete the bond. If she chooses to complete the bond that is. If not, good luck she sounds more than capable of making you suffer for your impulses. (laughing)

Alpha Liam: s**t 

End POV

Layla’s POV 

We arrive at my parents’ (Linda and John) house here in Ithaca New York

Layla: Hi mom Hi dad

Linda: Hi Sweetie, it's been a while 

John: Hi Princess

Layla: I know how’s everything?

Linda: Good now where’s my grandbabies?

Both CJ and Lena give my parents a hug

Lena: Hi Grandma and Grandpa 

CJ: Hi Grandma and Grandpa

John: How’s school?  You guys keeping your grades up?

CJ: We always do well

Layla: It's true they haven’t even received an A- ever.

John: Good I’m happy to hear that 

Linda: Me too 

John: You guys got here just in time I was just about to head to the lake and catch some fish you kids want to come? I have extra rods in the shed.

The kids answer excitedly at the same time 

CJ: YES

Lena: Yes

They look at me as if they need my permission

Layla: Go on I know you guys want to go, but count me out

Lena: Yay thanks mom

CJ: Thanks mom

They leave with my dad to go fishing 

Layla: I don't get why they love fishing so much. 

Linda: It's because when they were small, they’d go fishing with Chris and your father remember.

Layla: Oh, yea that's right I can’t believe I forgot that.

Linda: Oh, don't worry I see you have a lot on your mind.

Layla: Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something.

Linda: Does it have anything to do with the bite mark on your neck?

My mom raises an eyebrow at me as she’s pointing to my neck. I blush and cover it as fast as I can but it's too late she already saw it.

Layla: Actually, I wanted to know more about our family history.

Mom looks at me and lets out a sigh

Linda: Ok I thought I didn't have to tell you since you never asked but I guess now is as good of a time as any.

Layla: What is that supposed to mean?

Linda: You see soon enough. 

Mom takes me up to the attic and pulls out a dark brown leather book from an old chest.

Linda: Everything you need to know is in this book. I’m going to need you to keep an open mind Ok.

Layla: OK but why?

Linda: it's all in that book just read it and look at the drawings too.

When my mom hands me the book I notice the cover has a crescent moon on every corner and two more with what looks like a woman in the center. I unbuckle the leather straps and open the book But all the pages are blank.

Layla: Uhm mom the pages are blank.

Linda: OH yeah, you’re going to need this.

Mom hands me a Silver Axe Dagger Crescent Moon Pendant with a moonstone in its center on a necklace.

Layla: Wow this is pretty but why are you giving this to me?

Mom grabs the necklace to put it around my neck.

Linda: This is now yours. You will need this pendant to read the book. You have to use the pendant to prick your finger.

Layla: Why? I don't understand.

Linda: The answers you seek are in your blood.

Mom touches the bite mark.

Linda: Judging by this Mark here you’re going to need answers and fast.

Layla: Do you know what is happening to me?

Linda: Yes, and trust me when I say it’s been a very long time coming. I’ll leave you to it.

Layla: OK

Mom leaves to prep dinner for everyone while I unlock the journal. I take the pendant mom gave me and prick my finger like she suggested. As soon as the first drop of my blood hits the page drawing begin to appear on the pages of the book. The first drawing to appear is a woman in some sort of crescent Shape crown with two wolves one black and one white, and under the drawing, it says Selene with her mate and first-born son. The second drawing to appear was a young girl on the back of a white wolf. Under the drawing, it said the son of Selene Lycaon Lykos was born a wolf, like his father. But Selene’s daughter Luna Lykos was born human and if she chose so, she could be like Selene The Moon Goddess with all her powers so on and so forth but if she didn't want that she can stay human. After Selene’s Mate passed, she told her children she was going to return to the moon to be with their father. She instructed her son to always look after his sister and she instructed her daughter to make sure every child born of her bloodline knows of the choices they have if they were to mate with anyone other than human. And on the next few pages are all the names of everyone in Luna’s bloodline. Lena’s name is last of Luna’s bloodline. Then there is Lycaon’s bloodline with every wolf born in his bloodline. One thing that stands out on both bloodlines is gender. All the names on Lycaon’s line were all-male wolves no females. And on Luna’s all are female except for CJ’s name, He is the first-born male in Luna’s line, And he also had a little logo of a small wolf in the shape of a crescent moon next to his name and so did Lycaon but every other wolf in Lycaon’s line did not have the logo. I don't know what that means for CJ. I close the book and go downstairs to get ready for dinner.

Layla: Mom when was the last time you looked at the book.

Linda: When Lena was born.

Layla: So, you noticed the logo near CJ’s name is the same logo as Selene’s son Lycaon.

Linda: Yes, I also noticed You're the only one of both bloodlines to have two children both a son and a daughter just like Selene did, both bloodlines only had one child each until you.

Layla: I noticed that too.

Linda: So, let me guess you found your True Mate and he marked you.

Layla: Well he says I’m his Mate, but he marked me before I knew what it meant. I only just found out what he was after my choice was taken from me as far as the mark goes.

Linda: I have a feeling you didn't really kick his ass like you normally would have. Why?

Layla: (laughs) What makes you think I didn't?

Linda: Same way you know things before they happen. You saw this before it came to be, didn't you?

Layla: Yes, it was weird because it felt real in the dream too.

Linda: (Shocked) You felt it in the dream too?

Layla: Well yeah but doesn’t that happen to you?

Linda: No, but this isn’t the first time it's happened to you either.

Layla: What do you mean?

Linda: Sweetie don't you remember when you were pregnant with CJ? You told Chris that you had a dream that he was in a horrible car accident and he died in your dream. You said it felt so real you woke up crying. 

Layla: I honestly don't remember.

Linda: I guess because we didn't think much of it at the time because all pregnant woman has vivid dreams, and everything was fine for the following nine years.

Layla: Until that night. Are you saying I saw what happened before it happened like some kind of psychic?

Linda: (laughs) You’re not a psychic but you do get premonitions we all do even Lena not CJ though.

Layla: How do you know?

Linda: Its Lena’s’ reflexes it’s like she anticipates everything before it happens and as for CJ you need to talk to this Alpha Liam guy he can help.

Layla: (Shocked) How do you know his name? I didn’t tell you.

Linda: (laughs) I told you I’m like you and Lena I get premonitions. 

Layla: Ok but it's still kind of freaky.

Linda: (Laughs) I know you’ll get used to it.

Layla: (Laughs) If you say so. But why would I need to talk to Liam about CJ?

Linda: Because CJ is going to be sixteen soon. And soon CJ like Selene’s son Lycaon will be a wolf.

Layla: This is all because Liam marked me, right?

Linda: No, unfortunately, this was fated to happen because our bloodline only had females until you became pregnant with CJ that is.

Layla: Wait so even if I didn't end up with Liam CJ would still become a wolf?

Linda: Yes, it is his fate. You just got lucky finding your True Mate.

Layla: Who else besides us can read the book?

Linda: No one only those who are directly from Selene’s children's bloodline.

Not only that but you're the only one of both lines to have two children as well.

Just then dad and the kids walk in the house

End POV

John: We’re home and guess what?

Linda: You cause a big one.

John: No actually it was CJ here who caught this thirty-five-inch, fifteen-pound eight-ounce salmon.

CJ:  How did I do ma?

Layla: you did great (laughs) but don't think I’m gutting that thing for you.

Lena: (laughs) Fishing is fun but cleaning it not so much.

John: It's ok I’m going to teach you how to gut and descale a fish.

Linda: And I can teach Lena how to filet it.

Lena: Now that I can do.
