We have started getting into the routines here and it is actually both easy and kind of fun, but honestly I am surprised about how little we get recognised ... Most people seem to just think we are very good look-alikes.
Today I am doing a photo op ... not as me, but as my superhero alter ego Falke. Giving the kids a chance to meet their hero and get a photo. Honestly this is part of what I love most about the role, making kids happy.
So I get into the costume and a grumpy looking security guard that seems unable to do anything but grunt, picks me up, motioning for me to follow him.
“So ...”. I lean forward reading his name tag. “Luc ... how do you like working in Fairytale Land ? Pretty amazing right ? I totally agree ... I bet you put smiles on a lot of faces every day”.
He just grunt and keep walking at a pace that has me halfway running to keep up with his longer legs.
“So who is your favorite character ? or do you prefer super heroes ?” My voice gets slightly muffled as I pull on the mask before walking outside. “You are a Mouse man right ? No wait .. Winter princess is your girl ? Tell me if I am close”.
I am still not getting anything, making me pick up my speed, almost running backwards in front of him.
“Any hobbies ? Like knitting ? Porcelain kittens ?” I stop talking to breathe. “Killing people who get in your way”.
The last one actually makes him c***k a smile, and I overlook a curb, stepping down wrong and feeling myself falling backwards.
Luc actually gasps, but I am used to falling, so when I hit the ground, I roll ... It still hurts, but I end right back on my feet. “So you were about to tell me what your favorite Fairytale candy is ?”
“Do you ever shut up ?” He rubs his neck.
“When I sleep ... no wait, I talk in my sleep ... so no never really”. I c**k my head. “Do you have a headache ? I know some great stretches for the neck that help, you want me to show you ?”
He just glares at me. “Be quiet ... please”.
“I could be quiet, but as you are not really speaking it would be rather boring ... so maybe better if I just keep talking”. I smile at him.
A couple of minutes later he opens a door, making a motion for me to go inside. “Okay so just in here then, will you and your witty personality stay and entertain me ? I ...”.
I stop in my tracks as an angel appears before me, or well turns around to look at me. She is stunning with thick dark honey blonde hair and big blue eyes. Her lips are rather full and her nose is totally adorable.
“Oh hi you must be Mr Walker, Hi I am Tabitha, I’ll be your helper today, getting people in and out of here on schedule”. She sends me a beautiful smile.
“Uh ah ... oh”. My tongue suddenly feels useless and I am unable to form a real sentence.
Luc shakes his head. “Now he shut up ... next time you can be his handler Tabitha”.
“Yes please”. It comes out as this weird croak. “You can handle me any time you want”.
“Oh god”. Luc groans and rolls his eyes.
The girl gives Luc a look. “Don’t be so hard on him, he might just be ... nervous or something”. She walks closer. “Are you okay Mr Walker ?”
“I ... yeah… Daniel ... Danny ...”. I want badly to kick myself right now. “Just call me Danny please ... and yeah, I am okay ... very okay”.
I realise I am still wearing the mask and I pull it off, making her giggle in the most adorable way. “Oh you have a face too”.
“Yeah ... hi”. I already realise how dumb that sound, but she seem to have some weird effect on me, making me act all weird.
“Hi ... Danny”. She giggles again. “Should we get ready here ?”
I nod. “Yeah, sure ... whatever you want”.
“You are cute”. She wink at me as she turns, taking my breath away. “Okay you better get the mask back on”.
*Tabitha*
I spend the day getting people ushered in and out of the room, talking with Danny when there is a break. I instantly like him, he is a sweet guy and funny too, and he is so amazing with the kids.
I have this feeling that he might be flirting with me, but it might also just be how he is ... I mean he seems like a very friendly guy, so I choose to ignore it. I mean I guess he is kinda handsome, but my heart belongs to someone else, someone much more mature.
These last couple of days I have tried spending as much time as possible close to Aiden. And I have no doubt ... I am deeply in love with him, I am sure of it ... I mean he is so perfect. Until now he is keeping a bit of a distance though and I know it has to do with my age, I have to make him forget that. I mean what does 21 years really mean if the love is there.
And talking about the handsome devil, when we are having a lunch break, Danny talks just about every second where he isn’t chewing, Aiden’s head suddenly pop’s in the door.
“Hey Danny, are you up for some karaoke tonight ?” He looks handsome as always, then he seems to notice me. “Oh hi Tabitha ... are you stuck with this one all day ?”
I smile at him. “Yeah ... but it’s okay, he is funny ... we’ve had fun”.
And it is the truth, Danny is fun to be around, we’ve had a great time and I feel like we could be really good friends.
“Well that’s good”. Aiden gives me a warm smile, then turns to Danny. “So ... Karaoke ?”
“Sure Aiden, sounds like fun”. Danny says between bites of his sandwich.
Aiden nods. “See you later then ... see you around Tabitha”.
“See you Aiden”. I watch him leave and sigh.
Danny is looking at me for a bit, then he swallows his food. “What’s with the ... heart shaped eyes and sighing ... is it Aiden ?”
“No ...”. I sigh again. “He is just so ... handsome, and so grown up and mature”.
“Yeah because he is ... grown up I mean”. He fiddles with the mask in his hands. “You know he could be your father right ? He has like … grey hair and everything”.
I bite my lip. “I know ... but age is nothing but a number, it doesn’t matter if you are in love and I like the gray ... that salt and pepper look is very sexy”.
“So what is Aiden saying ... he doesn't care about the age either ?” He looks curious but also something else, sad ? Upset ? I am not sure.
I shake my head. “I haven’t told him, he seems to ... care about my age ... but if he would just give me a chance. I am sure I could make him forget that”.
“You might be right”. He gets up slowly and pulls on the mask, then his whole body kind of perks up, and he pulls the mask back off. “Hey, you want to come with us to karaoke tonight ? Aiden will be there”.
“You’ll bring me ?” I almost can’t contain my excitement. An evening with Aiden, outside work. “I’d love to”.
He smiles, he has a cute smile. “Sure, the more the merrier.. It’ll be fun”.
“Thank you Danny ... you are such a great friend”. I jump up, hugging him and pressing my lips to his cheek, leaving a wet kiss.
“Yeah ... friend”. He says with a small sigh, then he pulls on the mask. “Let's make some kids happy”.
