Nina pulled up to the diner and said, “I swear I have déjà vu. I was just here hours ago.”
I grinned and replied, “Yeah, I think so too.”
“I think there’s a joke there that I’m not aware of,” Andy chimed in from the back seat.
I turned to him and explained, “After school and before the game, we ate here.”
“Oh, I wish I had known! I would have joined you guys,” Andy said.
“Hey, that’s on me. We’re not used to having an extended friend group. But you’re right; I should have asked you and Billy if you wanted to tag along,” Nina admitted.
“Hey, it’s cool. Trust me, I know the new dynamics take some getting used to. Honestly, when we had the other girls in our little friend group, all they cared about was hooking up with Shawn and David, and I often felt left out,” he said.
