I was worried about Lila. She never responded to the text I sent during school to check if she was okay. As I drove home, instead of texting, I decided to call her.
As the phone rang, I felt a strange sensation that Lila was avoiding me. After the fourth ring, just as I was about to hang up, I heard, “Hello” on the speakerphone in my car.
