**Lila** I woke up the next day and sat up in bed. I really didn’t want to go to school and face everyone after what happened yesterday. But I also knew I could get into a lot of trouble with my parents if I missed school again. I needed to just swallow whatever happened and get through the day. As I was getting dressed, my phone dinged with a notification. I looked at it and saw it was a message from Nina. N: Picking you up in 15 for school. I guess Nina is going to drive me to school. Sometimes she does that; most of the time, I take the bus. But I had a feeling Nina was doing this today because she wanted to make sure I actually went to school. Fifteen minutes was really thirty minutes—Nina time. She wasn’t exactly punctual. I finished getting dressed and headed downstairs. Kayla
