I just got off the phone with Shawn. It was definitely a strange conversation. Maybe it’s my insecurities, but there’s a part of me that feels like he’s trying to pull a trick on me.
I looked at the clock on my phone and saw that it was only 7 PM. I figured I should call Nina to see if she was okay.
When she dropped me off, she had calmed down a lot, but I was still worried because I know she can’t just write David out of her life. She’s stuck with him because of her mother.
I called her, and the phone must have rung five times before I heard her say, “Hello.” She sounded like she had just run a marathon.
“You okay? You sound out of breath,” I told her.
“Yeah, I didn’t have my phone on me when you started calling,” she replied.
