As David and I got away from Lila and Nina’s lockers, making sure they didn’t overhear us, I said to David, “Okay. First off, you and Nina?”
He shook his head. “It’s not what you think. We’re just friends, that’s all,” he replied.
“She brought you to school,” I pointed out.
“Yeah, because I needed a ride, and I had to apologize for being a jerk yesterday,” David said as we reached our lockers.
David nodded to Billy and Andy before he yanked open his locker.
“You saw who’s back in the student body, right?” Billy asked me.
“Saw? More like she shoved me. But yeah, I saw,” I said as I opened my locker.
